Save Selected AutoCAD Objects as a Separate DWG

Aug 13, 2026
Need to save only one room, detail, stair, equipment group, or drawing section from a large AutoCAD project? Use the WBLOCK command to export selected objects directly into a separate DWG file. Command sequence: WBLOCK → Objects → Pick Base Point → Select Objects → Retain → Choose File Name Use Retain if you want the selected objects to remain in the original drawing. The new DWG file contains only the objects you selected, making it easier to share details, create a block library, or reuse project components.
