Make AutoCAD Text Readable with WIPEOUT
Aug 22, 2026
Need a clean and readable label inside a busy AutoCAD drawing?
Use WIPEOUT to mask the geometry behind your text without trimming, deleting, or modifying the original drawing objects.
Command sequence:
Draw a Closed Polyline → WIPEOUT → Polyline → Select the Boundary
The new wipeout may temporarily cover the existing text. To restore the label above the mask:
Select the Text → DRAWORDER → Front
Then hide the wipeout boundary:
WIPEOUTFRAME → 0
The result is a clean and readable annotation while the original background geometry remains unchanged behind the wipeout.
Use this workflow for room labels, area values, dimensions, equipment tags, and technical notes placed over dense plans or hatch patterns.
