Have you ever asked the question
0:01
what is the gospel? You always hear this word thrown around in Christian circles
0:06
but you will be shocked that most Christians today are oblivious of the true meaning of this word
0:11
So what is really the true gospel? That's what we are going to discuss today
0:17
Before Christ ascended into heaven, he imparted a profound mission to the church
0:22
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature
0:26
Mark 16 verse 15. This command, echoed in Matthew 28, 19, to make disciples of all the nations
0:34
is the cornerstone of our Christian duty. To be effective Christians, we must zealously fulfill this directive
0:40
and cultivate the habit of preaching the gospel. Understanding the gospel. In today's world
0:47
the true gospel is often obscured by various misleading messages, such as the prosperity gospel
0:52
or the once saved, always saved doctrine. To preach effectively, we must first understand what the gospel truly is
1:00
According to Mark 1, 14 and Luke 4, 43, Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom of God
1:07
His mission was to proclaim this message of hope and future restoration
1:11
not just his birth, suffering, or death. The focus should be on the living Christ
1:16
and the coming kingdom of God, a message often overshadowed by other aspects of Jesus' life
1:22
A message of hope. In a world plagued by moral decay, hatred, and suffering
1:27
people yearn for good news. The gospel of the kingdom of God offers this hope
1:32
promising a future where God will intervene in human affairs through Jesus Christ
1:36
As millions suffer from natural disasters, wars, poverty, and disease, the message of the coming kingdom provides a beacon of hope
1:44
and a solution to the world's problems. Our responsibility. As Christians, we are commissioned to continue Jesus' work of spreading this good news
1:54
Luke 9, verse 1 to 6. shows that this is not a suggestion
1:58
but a guiding principle for the church. We are not to bury the truth like the man who hid his talent
2:03
Instead, we must actively share it. Preaching as daily sustenance. Jesus exemplified the ideal of preaching the gospel as his daily sustenance
2:12
In John 4, 31 to 34, he describes doing God's work as his food
2:17
essential for his spiritual nourishment. We too must adopt this mindset, treating the act of preaching as vital to our spiritual health
2:25
Without it, we risk spiritual malnourishment and death. Supporting the church's mission
2:32
Preaching the gospel is not solely the responsibility of ministers. It is the duty of every church member
2:39
Matthew 24, 45 to 47 blesses those who are found actively doing God's work when he returns
2:45
The collective effort of the church strengthens its mission, making it more effective
2:49
Each member's contribution is crucial to fulfilling the command to preach to all the world as stated in Mark 16, verse 15
2:58
Conclusion. The mission to preach the gospel is both a personal and communal responsibility
3:04
We must understand the true gospel of the kingdom of God and share this message of hope with a world in desperate need
3:11
Preaching should be as essential to us as food, driving our daily actions and sustaining our spiritual health
3:19
By supporting the church and actively participating in this mission, we fulfill our duty as effective Christians
3:25
and ensure that the powerful message of the coming kingdom of God reaches every corner of the world
3:31
Let us commit to this vital task and be found faithful in our work when Christ returns
3:38
There you have, friends, the true meaning of the gospel. It is not simply about Jesus Christ
3:43
but rather it is the good news of the coming kingdom of God
3:48
In a world filled with suffering and chaos, that's the greatest news you'll ever hear in this life
