There's more than meets the eye with this messenger bag. Let's look inside
0:04
Dave Taylor here on the perpetual quest for the best computer bag in the world
0:17
This time I'm looking at the Mobile Edge Sumo messenger bag. Now if you look real closely, this is sort of the stylized Sumo wrestler logo on the graphic
0:28
But it's not the graphic that's interesting, it's the design of this
0:32
So, let me just show you. There are tons of compartments. And what I really like about this model is there's a lot of zippered compartments
0:40
So there's a secret one here that you don't even realize exists, which is nice
0:46
But that's not all. There's another zippered compartment on the back. And this one's really huge. So let's see
0:53
You open the zipper, and this is plenty of space in here to put all sorts of your favorite stuff
1:02
And, you know, it's not a fully waterproof bag, but it is ballistic nylon, which makes it water resistant
1:10
We'll come back to the material in a second. Let me just spin it around and keep showing you all the cool features
1:15
So it has sort of covered buckles. I'll have to undo one
1:21
I don't know why I always tend to do one buckled up both, but that's just how I roll
1:26
Oh, there we go. I'm pushing in the wrong spot. There we go. So now, open up the flap. You can see the interior on this side is, again, a sort of fun Sumo pattern
1:37
And it continues that red theme. And then inside, there is a ton of space in here
1:43
I don't know how well you can see that, but let me just show you. There are pockets. There are pen holders. There's plenty of space for my headphones, my power cord
1:55
And then, in a corduroy-lined container or compartment with a Velcro close is space for up to a 16-inch laptop or 17-inch MacBook Pro
2:09
That is a lot of space. And I really like that it is not only padded, but it doesn't go to the very bottom of the case
2:17
So you have additional sort of support and protection if you drop the case or someone hits the case or something untoward happens
2:26
Now, on this exposed part, there is yet another zippered compartment. So there's just a ton of storage. And I really like having things closed properly with zippers
2:38
because I tend to travel with lots of little wires and adapters and, you know, little doohickeys
2:44
And having, like, just a Velcro close at the top means that if I were to turn the bag upside down
2:50
remember my computer's still in here, if I were to turn the bag upside down, things would fall out
2:55
As you can see, they aren't falling out. Very nice. So let's see. The material that they use, let's talk about that for a second. This is pretty cool
3:03
This is a 1680 denier ballistic nylon. And I'm like, hmm, so what's denier
3:10
So denier is pretty interesting. It's actually a measure of the density of a fabric
3:15
So on sheets, you have, like, thread count. This is sort of the equivalent
3:20
But 1 denier is silk. 300 denier is polyester. This is 1600 denier, which means that it's using thick fibers
3:31
And when you have a high denier count, you have thick, sturdy, and durable materials like a ballistic nylon
3:37
If you have a low count, then you have something that's sheer and soft and silky
3:42
So silk is the reference material at 1 denier, which is why it's pretty amazing
3:48
That would not make a good computer bag. I don't know, maybe it would be kind of interesting, that's for sure
3:54
You know, not a whole lot of protection going on there. But generally when you're wearing silk, protection is not your primary goal
4:01
Whole other subject. Okay, so water resistant, has a really nifty shoulder strap
4:07
And, you know, they've done so many things I really like with this design
4:11
This is really a great messenger bag. But one of the things it has is it has quick adjusts on both sides
4:18
So a lot of the bags, the bag that I use right now, until I switch to this one
4:23
actually has the sort of quick release where you can adjust the length of it on one side
4:29
But this actually gives you that same feature on both sides. And it's a padded shoulder strap. And if you don't like the padded shoulder strap, you know what you can do
4:39
You can take it off without any penalty. So, again, that crazy Sumo shows up everywhere. There's a lot of Sumos
4:46
If I counted all the Sumos in this bag, I'd be really wasting my time
4:50
So I didn't do that. So, suffice to say, this is a really solid option for your next computer bag
4:58
And the fact that it supports up to a 17-inch MacBook or 16-inch PC laptop
5:03
and has so many zippered compartments, is just a huge win. It comes in four different colors. This is the red. It also comes in pink and blue and silver
5:14
All really nice looking colors. But this is the kind of bag where if you're going to get this and you're going to use this
5:20
in five or ten years, you'll still be happy with this. This is a tough bag with a lot of smart design features
5:27
Really definitely worth checking out. Which means the only thing we haven't talked about is the price
5:33
But before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you can subscribe to my channel
5:38
There's a little button floating down there near the bottom. Just click on it or tap on it, and you have subscribed to my channel
5:44
I am super honest in my reviews. If there was any issue I had with this, and honestly, this is one of the few bags I've seen where I have no issues
5:52
But if I had any issues, I would be super candid and straight with you, because that's what I do
5:56
I am an honest reviewer, and if the merchants or vendors don't like it, whatever
6:01
I'm doing this for you. I'm not doing it for them. So, great. Subscribe. Thank you
