Is this the best Android phone on the market
0:02
Let's find out. Dave Taylor here with this
0:12
This is so nice. This is the Google Pixel 7 Pro Android smartphone
0:17
And if I turn it around, you can see that trademark stripe of camera lenses
0:22
Now, it is pretty sweet. It is pretty darn powerful. It is lightning fast
0:27
Everything just happens very snappy. And of course, the cameras and the software to power those cameras are absolutely best in breed right now
0:36
So, a couple of quick specs, and then I'll get into lots of demos of photos and video
0:41
So before I go any further, I'll tell you I did an unboxing. I encourage you to check it out
0:47
It gives you the executive summary. It comes with a USBC charging cable, a USBC to USBA adapter, and some paperwork
0:55
And that's basically everything in the box, plus, of course, the phone itself. So, let's talk about this phone
1:01
It's a 6.7 inch OLED display running at Q-HD Plus resolution, which is 312 by 1440
1:10
It features Corning Gorilla Victus glass. So this is the toughest glass they have, and it really helps because if you drop your phone
1:19
you don't want to pick it up and say, oh, look, it cracked. How much is that going to cost me
1:23
So they got you covered there. Also features the always on display, which has been around for a couple of
1:29
a couple of generations of pixel at this point. And it's powered by the Google Tenser G2 chip
1:35
This one is actually the Titan M2. Now, you don't have to worry about the chips per se
1:41
other than number one, to know it's super fast on computation and it gives it a lot of AI power for things like photo editing
1:49
And it's actually a Google-produced chip. So Google can really fine-tune all of it
1:54
to give the best possible features and the best performance and the best battery
1:59
life, you know, for specifically smartphones. So very nice. Let's see. There are three cameras
2:07
rear facing. They are a 50 megapixel wide at F1.85, a 48 megapixel telephoto at F3.5, and a 12 megapixel
2:18
ultra wide at F2.2. On the front, there's a little hole punch, which honestly you don't even
2:24
notice after a few minutes. And that features a 10 megapixel F2.2
2:29
And lots of cool stuff. If I lock it, let's see, then there's a fingerprint scanner
2:36
Let me wake this thing up. Oops get back to where we were Demos There a fingerprint scanner which lights up and of course it not actually unlocking because that the wrong finger that not the one I scanned
2:51
But really nice built into the screen. It's a dual sim phone so that means that you can use a nano sim and an e-sim
3:00
The nano-slim slides into a little slot on the left-hand side. In fact, let's do a super quick tour
3:07
On the bottom, you can see there's USBC for charging in the middle. the middle and then there's two cutouts for the speakers on the right hand side is
3:15
volume up and down and separately a power button on the top there's really nothing on the
3:22
left side there's that e-sim tray and of course the e-sim tray removal tool is also
3:28
included in the box but honestly you can use a paperclip it works just as well and that's
3:33
really everything around the four sides on the back it's just that stripe with the cameras
3:38
So, you know, from a perspective of like physical buttons and devices, this is really not much going on because really everything is subsumed by it running Android and having you have software access to everything
3:51
Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth, 5.2. Lots of great technologies. But seriously, let's jump into demos
4:00
And I'm going to start with photos and then we're going to look at videos
4:04
So let's jump right in. This first photo you can see is a wide angle shot
4:11
Then I switch to a 1x view, which is supposed to be the same as what you're seeing yourself
4:16
And this is a 5x zoom. Then here's a close up and then a really close up here
4:23
And you can see the detail. It's pretty darn impressive. This is just my watch
4:28
It's actually the same one that's on my wrist right now. And then finally, here's a selfie shot
4:32
And again, look at the nuance on the skin tone. really does a nice job. But where this really gets fun is let's switch to video. So first of
4:40
here is a 1x video. And then I went to 2x, and then this sequence is a 5x video, so it's a 5x zoom
4:56
And of course you can't not have fun with this, so I also have slow motion
4:59
and I have time lapse. All of the video I've done by having the phone on a tripod that's important to know
5:10
particularly if you're getting into things like time lapse, you really can't just handhold this
5:15
And of course, here's a video selfie. This is a selfie video and it's doing pretty well
5:20
The lighting's okay. The sun is up there, so it's not exactly lit well
5:27
And I have the competition of the stream behind me because it only using the microphone on the phone I don have any additional microphone but what do you think Finally I also have a couple of demos of NightSight
5:40
It is a remarkable combination of the camera and a lot of software and computations
5:46
So this is a photo, and notice the stars and how they all just pop right out of that picture
5:52
But it's interesting because when you do a lot of this night site, you also get this sort of timeline
5:58
So here's an example time lapse. It's pretty fast, but it's really cool. And this was taken at midnight on my street. So it is pretty darn dark. So those are all the camera demos. And I got to say, I was very impressed. This phone and the software and everything, it's clear Google has put a lot of effort into making this a real rock star in terms of the way it takes photos. And honestly, I just think back even five years ago where you might be thinking, oh
6:28
I should carry my DSLR or something, but our phones are really good cameras now
6:33
I mean, that's really impressive footage there. So, I will tell you, the sound is decent
6:40
It's great on phone calls, although I generally really, I don't like holding up the phone to my ear
6:46
so I'll either use it in speaker mode, which works okay, or I'll use some sort of a Bluetooth device
6:52
to actually have it be a little bit more private, like the Google Buds or something like that
6:56
And that works way better. I will note that we showed in the demo or in the tour, there is no 3.5 millimeter jack. I wish they wouldn't have taken that away, but they did. So, you know, either you need to find some sort of headphones or earbuds that'll plug into the USBC, not so easy, or you're going to be using Bluetooth. But when you do, you'll find that there's also some software to make clarity on your phone calls a little better, which is a great feature. So otherwise, the only other thing is the
7:26
to talk about is the battery life. And the Pixel 7 Pro features a 5,000 millan
7:33
amp hour batteries. That's pretty hefty. And they say it'll give you more than 24 hour battery
7:38
life. And it's also Chi wireless charging certified and you can use a 30 watt fast charger
7:44
to get it to charge pretty quick. My actual experience with the battery was not quite so
7:50
stellar. I found that it lost somewhere about 20% of its charge just sitting unused
7:56
for 24 hours. Maybe that's not something you would do with your phone, but I have other
8:02
pixel phones that I can pick up after two or three weeks and they'll still be at a 90% charge
8:07
that they'll just, in, you know, particularly in shutdown mode, they'll be able to just power
8:12
everything down and just conserve that battery I didn find this was quite that good but still 5 millamph hours and Android 13 and all the circuitry to give you the maximum battery life I think it be very happy that you be able to charge this overnight and then when you get up in the morning it going to run all the way through your midnight movies and then you get home you be tired your phone will be tired and plug it in and the next morning you ready to go again So really pretty darn impressive Now dimensions it 6
8:44
inches by three inches by three tenths of an inch and it's seven point five ounces comes in three
8:51
different colors and the pricing's kind of interesting but before we get to pricing let me go
8:56
ahead and ask if you could subscribe to my channel please click or tap on subscribe click or a tap on that
9:01
notification bell icon we're connected and if you found this helpful and useful go ahead and
9:07
give me a like or a thumbs up really really appreciate when you do that cool now this is the
9:13
Google Pixel 7 Pro Android smartphone and AT&T sent me this so I'm going to give you both Google's
9:20
pricing and AT&T's pricing because they're not quite the same so at Google you can pick it up for
9:27
899 99 so you can do that you get it straight from Google but then you have to deal with all the hassle
9:33
of getting it onto your network instead you can also pick it up from AT&T where it's slightly more
9:39
expensive at 93999 or if you want to pay monthly it's 2612 per month times 36 months at
9:48
at t.com it comes in hazel which is this color or snow or obsidian and honestly i would say this is one of
9:57
the very best android phones on the market right now and the fact that you can pick it up for under a
10:02
thousand dollars it's pretty spendy but it's actually a pretty darn nice phone that's going to serve you
10:09
well for years. And one of the secret advantages of having a pixel phone is that if you're a fan
10:15
of Android and you like to experiment with things, the pixel phone gets features before any other
10:21
Android phone and it gets new versions of Android faster than any other Android phone. So if that's appealing
10:27
and you have that sort of I want to live on the edge sort of mentality, this is one to check out
10:33
It's everything I got. Big fan, sad I have to send it back to AT&T, but I really appreciate that they
10:38
sent it to me to review. And that's all I got. So hope to catch you in my next video
