The LV V30 is the newest and greatest smartphone from LG Electronics, and it's beautiful. Boasting a huge 6-inch screen with almost zero bezel, it also boasts Qi charging, a glass back, elegant ergonomic design that makes it a pleasure to hold and much more. Heck, LG even figured out that having the finger scanner in the middle of the back is easier for lefties and righties than having it offset awkward as part of the camera assembly.
Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ explores all the features and capabilities of the LG V30 and finds it an excellent Android phone with almost no downsides at all. Fast, bright, able to take vivid photos, there's a lot to like about this newest smartphone from LG. But it's not quite perfect, as explained in this detailed video review...

it's the best LG ever but is it the best
0:03
Android phone let's find out oh hey Dave
0:15
Taylor here hang on and I am enjoying
0:17
the new LG V 30 now right off the bat
0:21
two really cool things to show you one a
0:24
headphone jack
0:25
oh very exciting more interestingly too
0:29
Qi charging I am charging the phone
0:32
without any wires
0:34
well now without any wires I'm using
0:37
actually the phone salesman wood puck
0:40
but you can use any she charge er and
0:43
its really nice a lot of cars actually
0:46
have Qi charging built-in you just drop
0:48
your phone right in the middle and when
0:51
you get it all positioned properly it
0:52
just starts charging how cool is that
0:55
but let me tell you this is the new
0:58
flagship phone for the LG line the V 30
1:02
and it's gorgeous it's a really really
1:05
nice phone let me show you a couple of
1:07
things about it so first off as you can
1:10
see in this picture it is an edge to
1:12
edge screen in fact believe it or not
1:16
it's this small and it's a full six inch
1:19
screen at twenty eight eighty by 1440
1:23
and for those of you that have been
1:25
looking at the latest Samsung or iPhone
1:27
10 there is no notch on the top nice job
1:31
LG avoiding the notch it's what they
1:35
call their full vision oh LED screen and
1:38
it's gorgeous it's a really nice screen
1:41
and it's bright and I'll show you I'll
1:44
give you a picture of some autumn leaves
1:46
and it's just really really vivid and I
1:50
really like it now some people online
1:52
have been saying they see inconsistent
1:55
colors when they look at solid colors on
1:57
this I don't see that at all I don't
1:59
know what the heck they're talking about
2:00
whether they got late prototypes or what
2:02
but this is some nice screen and it's so
2:06
big that it's just beautiful for
2:07
watching a TV or a movie or something
2:10
and here's what's also cool front and
2:13
back glass and metal so the whole finish
2:16
the ergonomics the feel of it's terrific
2:19
it's waterproof
2:21
ip68 so it's dust resistant waterproof
2:24
up to 30 minutes in the bottom of your
2:27
pool hopefully you will not leave it
2:29
there over 30 minutes you probably need
2:30
to pay attention to your phone but if
2:32
this drops in something or you splash
2:34
some coffee on it or something no need
2:37
to have a crisis about it because it's
2:39
gonna be fine has a nice big battery
2:42
3300 milliamp hours which means that you
2:44
get 17 to 22 hours of talktime
2:48
interestingly depending on whether
2:49
you're on a 3G or 4G network turns out I
2:52
didn't know this a 4G network takes a
2:54
little bit more power out of your phone
2:56
but however you do it
2:58
this is definitely gonna run you 24
3:00
hours without any real hassles and hey
3:02
it has Qi charging so boom I'm charging
3:05
it so how easy is that I mean honestly
3:08
if every company could just agree on
3:10
this charging and the iPhone 8 and
3:12
iPhone 10 do now support Qi charging
3:15
then we could see things like
3:16
restaurants that have chargers in the
3:19
middle of the tables how fantastic will
3:21
that be so what else can I tell you the
3:24
CPU inside this this is running a very
3:27
sweet snapdragon 835 with 64 gig
3:31
internal memory and you can use a micro
3:33
SD and expand it up to 2 terabytes why
3:37
you would want to terabytes of storage
3:39
on your phone is a little beyond me but
3:41
it's a lot of storage space now let's
3:44
talk about the camera because that's
3:46
worth noting too the back is a dual
3:49
camera as is now quite trendy running at
3:51
f/16 and it has a actual glass lens not
3:55
plastic LG says that gives you better
3:58
image clarity and here's an example I'm
4:01
going to show you two photos so because
4:03
it has a 16 megapixel when used in
4:06
normal mode and a 13 megapixel in
4:08
wide-angle so here's a normal photo and
4:14
here's a photo same place same location
4:18
and this one I took it wide angle you
4:21
can see both Optima really really clean
4:24
now the front camera which is always
4:26
exciting for my teen daughter is a five
4:29
megapixel and it has a wide angle lens
4:32
and a selfie light fantastic for when
4:35
you want to annoy everyone in the movie
4:36
theater and say Here I am
4:37
watching the movie and everyone else is
4:39
like turn or thrown off dude
4:41
so does that also from the video side it
4:45
has what they call cinematic video
4:46
filters haven't done much with that but
4:48
I hear they're pretty fun in terms of
4:50
you wanting to get really good quality
4:52
video out of this so that's a nice
4:55
additional feature as needed fingerprint
4:58
scanner if we look at the back good job
5:00
LG the fingerprint scanner is in the
5:03
center and it is in a logical place so
5:05
it's easy to put your finger there
5:07
unlike for example the Samsung Galaxy s8
5:11
which actually puts it up in the corner
5:14
which is a little confusing now I talked
5:17
to an s8 owner this morning and she said
5:19
that she just got used to it it's not a
5:21
big deal but I think having it in the
5:23
center just makes more sense it just
5:25
works better so that's really nice but
5:29
really the sweetest best thing about
5:32
this phone even with everything I've
5:34
talked about is the sound this thing has
5:37
some crazy good audio because built in
5:40
it has a high 5 quad DAC audio system
5:43
and a DAC is a digital analog converter
5:46
which is what high-end stereos use to
5:48
give you really big dynamic range and
5:51
even with these pretty mediocre little
5:54
earbuds sounds really good if you have
5:58
really nice headphones or really nice
6:00
earbuds that you can actually plug in
6:03
then you're gonna be blown away I
6:05
promise blown away by the audio on this
6:08
phone it's probably the best audio
6:10
system that I've ever heard on a smart
6:12
phone and that's saying something so you
6:14
use this and you use something like a
6:16
you know nice high-end biodynamic or
6:19
something like that and you will be
6:21
listening and people will call and
6:23
you'll be like ignore I'm listening to
6:25
music right now thank you very much so
6:27
super super cool and of course it has a
6:30
3.5 millimeter headphone jack
6:32
hey everyone else that's saying just
6:35
bluetooth LG has said we
6:37
give you a headphone jack and we'll give
6:39
you a reason to use it because of course
6:41
you can't really tap into the quad DAC
6:43
if you're using Bluetooth because this
6:45
is not how that works
6:46
so best quality sound by plugging in
6:49
which you know probably you have a half
6:51
a dozen items of audio that you can plug
6:54
in any way so that works out really nice
6:56
now on the less thrilling side it's
7:00
running Android 7.1 8.0 is not yet
7:03
available but they say by the end of the
7:05
year will that happen we'll see it puts
7:09
an LG UI on top I don't really see that
7:12
that does much the settings are a little
7:14
bit different and there are some
7:17
additional apps that LG drops on so
7:19
people complain about bloatware but
7:21
honestly I don't see that there's much
7:23
here on this AT&T Wireless LG v 30 so
7:27
AT&T puts some apps on LG put some apps
7:30
on you can delete them all if you want
7:32
or disable them whatever I don't see
7:34
that as a big deal your mileage may vary
7:36
so really there's a lot I like about
7:40
this phone I really like the waterproof
7:43
I really love the screen it's just big I
7:46
really like the whole edge to edge thing
7:48
I just I want screen I don't want edges
7:51
I know sometimes you have to have edges
7:55
and of course the audio whether you're
7:57
using relatively budget devices or
8:00
whether using something high-end the
8:01
audio is definitely really really nice
8:04
so before I tell you the pricing let me
8:07
just ask that you click on that
8:08
subscribe button and if you like this
8:10
video go ahead and click on that thumbs
8:12
up icon I sure appreciate the feedback
8:15
now you can get this through a variety
8:18
of sources you can go buy it flat out at
8:20
somewhere like Best Buy but mine is
8:22
through AT&T and AT&T Wireless has this
8:25
wicked good deal because in either
8:28
aurora black or cloud silver which is
8:32
cloud silver not another kind of silver
8:35
clouds over very nice it runs eight
8:39
hundred and nine dollars but AT&T has a
8:42
payment plan where it's an honestly it
8:44
is not kidding
8:45
27 bucks a month that is pretty darn
8:48
painless for this really pretty
8:50
our high-end Android smartphone that
8:52
you're going to be very happy with for a
8:55
good couple of years so if you get it to
8:57
18 T Wireless its 27 bucks a month or
9:00
809 flat out or I suppose you can find
9:03
it somewhere else
9:04
in any case LG v 30 really really nice
9:09
job LG there's a lot to love about this
9:11
phone Steve Taylor and I'll catch you in
9:14
my next video
