Excited about my time at Sandrock and need a new headset, this is your solution
0:05
Let's check it out. Dave Taylor here, and I want to talk about my time at Sandrock
0:18
It's this upcoming game. It's a follow-on to my time at Portia. People are super excited about it
0:23
It is a post-apocalypse simulation RPG, and there's an early access version already on Steam that people are really enjoying, but the whole game is officially releasing
0:35
in 2023 for Steam, four computers, and for gaming platforms. People really like this game. Now
0:44
they have all sorts of cool stuff going on in the game, but sometimes that's not enough. Sometimes
0:50
you want more. Enter this. This is the Exa E-1000 My Time at Sandrock's Special Edition
0:59
RGB gaming headset. And I thought, well, hmm, what's so special edition about it
1:05
And obviously the packaging is fantastic. This is very much the visual identity of the game
1:13
Obviously, they have licensed it and everything. But let's unbox this thing and see what's actually inside
1:19
So I need to do this preferably without hurting myself. And my unboxing tool is not necessarily something you should give to your six-year-old
1:29
You probably don't have a six-year-old with knives. So let's see. What's in the box
1:35
There is, of course, the headphones. So I'm going to just put the box aside
1:41
So there are the headphones. And there's a user guide and manual, but much more interesting, is my time at Sandrock
1:51
There is this gift envelope with stuff inside. So I'm going to hold off on looking at that till the very very important
1:59
very end because we want to check out the headphones and then we'll come back and see what's in
2:04
the envelope should be pretty interesting now this box is kind of taken up a lot of space so
2:10
I think what I'm going to go ahead and do with it is I'm going to go ahead and put it aside so
2:15
let's see these headphones so that e1,000s are super popular headphones from exa and they make a lot
2:23
of gaming headphones and headsets and what's really nice about these is they're actually entirely
2:28
affordable. Even this special edition is still very affordable. When we get to the price, you're
2:33
going to be like oh that all That pretty sweet So here we have them They are a full gaming headset with microphone and the microphone is as you can see highly adjustable And then on the wire it this big heavy braided cable
2:54
And then there's a control on the wire that gives you a mute button, super easy, and a volume control
3:01
Also really helpful. And then on the end of it, there is no 3.5 millimeter
3:06
This is a USBA, the rectangle. This is a USBA connector, and the advantage of that is it actually gives you 7.1 audio
3:16
So this is super important for gaming. You want a spatial sense of what's going on around you
3:22
so that if someone's sneaking up behind you, the game will give you that directional info
3:28
but your headset needs to be able to do that too, and this is exactly what this does
3:34
Now, it is an immersive 70s,000, not one environment, which is what I was just saying
3:38
And they're powered by 50mm neodymium drivers, and it's plug and play
3:44
So you just plug this thing in and you're ready to rock and roll. The microphone is a cardioid pickup
3:50
So if I put them on, then it's something where it will pick up mostly from the direction of my mouth
3:59
rather than the full environment around me, which makes a huge difference in terms of actually
4:04
picking up background noise. You don't want that. It's adjustable 120 degrees
4:09
I'm not sure how your head would be shaped that you would need it at these other angles
4:12
But you can also get it out of the way if you have a tendency to do that spitting thing
4:19
kind of yucky. But a lot of people, that's how they pronounce certain syllables
4:23
So you can move your microphone a little out of that way. So it gets a little bit less annoying to everyone else
4:29
Volume adjust and such are on the line. I already pointed that out. Obviously, it comes with this nice little traveling bag
4:36
which is entirely functional for what it is. And let's see, the ear pads are breathable
4:45
It is adjustable. But what we really want to do is we want to plug it in
4:49
because we want to see the lights, right? So I happen to have a brand new Lenovo Yoga here
4:55
So we're going to plug in. This is a Windows computer. So I'm going to plug in the headphones
5:01
They have not actually sacrificed USBA at the all. of USBC like too many companies have done
5:10
So plugged in and now you can see that cool lighting effect
5:16
So this is very simple, there's no adjustments, you can't turn the lighting off
5:21
but it pretty mellow and you can see it sort of circles around in this rainbow pattern So I gonna go ahead and put these on Notice I adjusted the headphones And now I have the microphone
5:33
So you can adjust it just so. And the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to give you an audio sample
5:40
Let's see. Let's see USB device. That must be this guy. So now what you're hearing is the audio pickup
5:53
from the microphone on the E-1000 headphones. So you can hear it's a really nice, bright sound
6:02
and something that everyone else that's in the middle of playing my time at Sandrock with you
6:07
will definitely appreciate as really anyone who's working with you in any context
6:13
whether you're on a Zoom call or whether you're just chatting with your friends in a different game
6:18
So really nice sound and let's just go ahead and check that music
6:23
button so and I've unmuted and so the mute button works on that control super
6:30
easy to work with let me pause this recording and now while I have it hooked up I
6:37
also I'm gonna just trick listen to some music real quick and obviously you can't
6:44
hear this but I'm listening to the kind of music you'd listen to if you were in the post-apocalypse and you had found some CD or something in the
7:02
desert sands, right? So sort of that my time at sandrock theme. And I'm using this to adjust the
7:10
volume and it's a very pleasant sound actually. I would say that it is really almost a little
7:19
base heavy and that's I think that 7.1 system coming into play
7:23
because that's like a surround sound system you'd have for a TV in your headphones
7:27
How cool is that? So it's a big bass forward sort of sound, which is exactly what you want for a game
7:36
So these are going to be really fun for a game. For regular music, if you wanted to use these to listen to Spotify or Pandora or something like that
7:45
you might want to use the EQ to bring up the mid-range and the highs a little bit
7:50
But it does have a nice presence to it and a good sound stage. I mean, you know, these are budget headphones designed for gaming and from that perspective
8:00
They really are doing a nice job of giving you all the sound that you really want at that lower end because that kind of where all the game designers have a lot of fun With the low rumbles of things that are over the horizon and all sorts of stuff So definitely nice sound And again I really like the light up
8:19
I like the light patterns. This is very low key, very easy to work with
8:24
We plugged it in. It didn't need any special drivers. Really straightforward to work with
8:30
So all of that is delightful, right? But I know what you really want
8:35
You want to find out what's in the envelope. So let's crack open our My Time at Sand Rock envelope and see what's in here
8:44
All right. Well, let's see. There are postcards. There are wanted postcards for four of presumably the bad guys in the game
8:58
So there you have it. And let's see. There should be one more thing in the envelope
9:03
Aha. There is also this pretty cool. This is a commemorative ticket for my time at Sandrock too
9:13
So the commemorative ticket is pretty neat. The postcards are definitely something you're going to go ahead and tape to your wall behind your computer monitor
9:21
And I know you're really into my time at Portia and you're super excited about my time at Sandrock and as you should be
9:29
It's a really fun game. It looks really cool. And that's everything
9:35
So, you get these great gamer headset, you get all these cool wanted cards, you get the commemorative ticket, all of this for
9:47
nope, hold on though, can't tell you the price yet until I ask you to subscribe to my channel, click or tap on that subscribe button, turn on notifications, and we're connected
9:56
Awesome. All right, this is the Exa E 1000 My Time at Sand Rock Special Edition
10:03
RGB Gaming headset, and it is 3299 at Exa.net, and you'll also want to check it out at Amazon.com
10:11
It might even be less expensive. Either way, this is a great addition to your My Time at Sand Rock setup
10:18
and of course these, you probably can't get anywhere else, so you probably would have to get the headset just to get these
10:25
possibly worth it right there. So that's all I got. I'm going to go back to my Steam Early Access game
10:31
So I'll get you in my next video
