Hey guys, it's Dave from AIPTComics.com and behind the camera is... Lisa! Woo
0:13
Um, what we have for you today is an unboxing review of the Mezco Spider-Man, which we literally
0:18
just got today. And I literally pre-ordered a year and maybe five days ago
0:25
So yeah, this was delayed quite a bit. I don't know if there's any of these in the wild yet
0:29
I've been looking and I don't see any reviews, so this might be one of the first reviews I saw
0:33
Anywho, the Mezco 112 action figures are retailing for $80. They actually might be going up in the near future, but this one was retailed for $80
0:43
and I think there's still a wait list on this if you wanted to get it. That's crazy
0:47
A year and still a wait list. I know. Well, anywho, to start, we got the box, which is pretty cool
0:53
It's like Spider-Man's chest. On the side, we have the logo of Spider-Man, which is usually on his back
1:00
And then some art for the figure, which you can see on Mezco's site, MezcoToys.com
1:07
And then you can see all the little attachments and whatnot he has with him. And then this is a slip cover, which we will put right here
1:18
Okay, so there's the Mezco symbol on the back, like all 112 figures
1:26
And we've got the little window here where we can see Spider-Man
1:32
Once again, there's a lot of plastic protecting it so it doesn't get rubbed or the paint doesn't
1:35
get scuffed or anything. Let's just open this guy up. Let's see if I can get one close shot
1:40
Yeah, there's a lot of reflection. This is not good. So, as with all their 112 figures, there is this tray that sort of protects it
1:54
It's kind of tricky. Last time I did this, I think I..
1:58
Hands exploded? Yeah, I think so. Which one was that? It was one of the Deadpools
2:02
It was Deadpool, I think, yeah. Oh gosh. Oh boy, and there we go. Hands exploded
2:06
We didn't lose too much. I did just scratch myself. You got a couple hands that came out there. Okay
2:12
So, as you can see, we have a couple webs. We have a shooting web, a little tiny, I don't know, wad of web
2:21
We got two of those actually. This one's a little bit longer. Oh my god, you're right
2:25
They just blew up. Oh, we've got a web that's kind of like spraying out a net
2:31
A little basket at the end there. And then this came with Miles Morales Spider-Man that we did a few months ago
2:38
It's a web that you can kind of bend, which is pretty cool. Oh yeah, that's cool. So you can pose him
2:43
Maybe like wrap it around the bad guys? Yeah. I'm gonna take these out
2:49
Mezco has really good packaging, I think. Everything is kind of in its place and it's hard to like lose anything
2:56
It looks like we have a second head. What's the face on that one
3:02
It looks like he's sort of squinting a little bit. Oh yeah, a little squinty face. What's interesting is there's like a bit of white, not white, but clear plastic for the eyes
3:10
It gives it a little bit of depth if you look. I don't know if you can see in the camera, but if you look, there's just like a little
3:14
bit of depth. Okay. And then we've got two for six extra hands
3:20
Yeah, I'm not sure if I put those back in the right way, but
3:24
That's all right. There's a flip hand, two flip hands, obviously, for left and right
3:31
Grip hands to grip the web. Looks like a splayed hand. Yeah, probably to like pose
3:37
And then looks like another hand to grab a web. And then the two hands that are on the figure already are just the fists to punch
3:47
It's interesting that the red is a little bit darker than other Spider-Man figures. It's not as bright of a red
3:52
But I don't know if you can see, but there's like some texture for the webs. It's like actually layered
3:57
Looks like some good detail there. Yeah. I like the raised webbing effect
4:01
Yeah, it gives it some texture. The fingers kind of move a little bit, but they're not supposed to
4:06
Yeah, flexible. That's it. All right. Then the actual figure. Dun dun dun
4:12
A year in the making. Or in the waiting, I should say
4:15
Now does this one have like the funky pants like the blue guy had
4:20
The blue Deadpool? The material. Yeah. It is. Yeah. All these figures from S.C.O.A.T. have like a cloth figure. Yeah
4:27
That's cool. The boot is just hard plastic. It's got some like, got like a sneaker on the bottom
4:33
But then all the blue is like a mesh or like a nylon, I should say
4:41
This is all like a fabric as well. It's all fabric all up in here
4:47
But then this arm is now hard plastic. And then the head obviously in the neck is hard plastic
4:54
You can see the stitching back here. Big stitches for Spider-Man. I guess he's got a really big, uh, what is it called
5:02
Big stitches where? Right here. Oh. On his belt? Yeah. He's got a thick waist
5:08
I guess. Thick waisted Spider-Man? Um, alright, so. As with all of S.C.O.A.T. they have pretty good bendability
5:16
A lot of points of articulation. With the knee, actually has a double, a double hinge there
5:24
His ankle can go all the way around. This moves a little bit, but not a lot, surprisingly
5:29
I don't know if I can force it. I guess I can, yeah, you can force it all the way around
5:36
Ankle has a joint so you can go all the way around, but also up and down. Move that elbow this way a little bit more
5:41
There you go. Um, and then the wrist has a joint that can go like so
5:48
The elbow has, I think, double joint as well so you can get that nice bend
5:52
And then he's got a joint in the middle and then he can go this way as well
5:58
The head can go all the way around. Go up. So this has its own joint. Yeah
6:03
Pretty well made. Pretty good. He looks cool. Yeah. He definitely looks cool
6:08
There's one other element. Is there a stand in there? Is that what that is? There is, yes
6:14
All Mezco figures come with a stand which is, I think, pretty awesome. Yeah, I think it's neat
6:17
You don't have to go buy more and it has a symbol related to the character. Right
6:24
It makes it more displayable. I feel like with Mezco you get more of a collector feel from it
6:31
This last tray holds the, um, this seems new. I don't remember the little foam thingies. Oop
6:46
These are super easy to put together. You, uh, you just push this peg out at the bottom here
6:55
And then you can put this, what would you call this? Come this way more for people
7:01
There you go. The crane. The arm. It goes in pretty good
7:08
And no assembly required besides what you just saw. Um, actually this is interesting
7:13
So Mezco usually comes with these extra, um, claws or whatever you call them, with a magnet
7:19
so you can put them on, like, your fridge. This magnet feels a lot heavier. I bet it holds a lot more weight
7:24
That one looks more heavy-duty than the last one. It's definitely, and I mean, of all the figures you'd want to put on your refrigerator, Spider-Man
7:30
is probably one of them. Okay. So. As you can see, you're displaying within seconds
7:41
Oh, and you also get this handy bag to put all the, uh, extra accoutrements for the figure
7:47
Yeah, that's nice too. And they give you an area where you can label the bag. Yeah
7:51
Which is good. So, if we were to compare this to two other figures, this is the Marvel Legends, uh, Spider-Man
7:58
I think it's the Pizza Spider-Man. Relatively new. Uh. Oh, I just lost the head
8:04
That's why you need that bag. Yeah. About the same height, no
8:09
What do you think? Mezco's a little taller. And a little thicker
8:13
Yeah, a little bit. And then this is actually my favorite Spider-Man figure
8:18
This is the Toy Biz Spider-Man from 2004. As you can see, the muscles are a lot different
8:24
That's actually something that, um, now that I'm looking at these three together, the Mezco
8:28
isn't very muscular, is it? Uh, no. Not as ripped. Right. It's more like
8:35
More, more toned and physical, but not as, you know. Like this guy here, your favorite, is, is really defined
8:43
Extra, extra. And then this one's sort of middle of the road. So we've got steroids
8:48
And then maybe some protein drinks. And then, hey, I hit the gym, but maybe I'm more of a yoga guy
8:54
You know, looking at it, and looking at the art on the box, it, uh, it's a lot like the
8:59
Stan Lee, uh, original. In that he's not as insanely ripped as comic, uh, heroes are these days. Yeah
9:06
But also, like, the colors are darker. Like how, well, this one's extra bright blue, but even this is a brighter blue than this. Yeah
9:12
And the red is, is not as rich and, and bright. It's. Well, you're gonna have a different saturation, too, for the blue, because it's cloth versus plastic
9:20
But, um, you know, I like this because this, to me, is more classic. More. Yeah
9:27
You know, this is a regular guy getting in a suit. Right. You know
9:31
Um, and for $80, you are paying a little bit more than these, obviously
9:36
I mean, the Marvel Legends is only, you can probably get it for $15. Um, but you're getting quality and you're getting, like, this texture and a really nice figure
9:46
I, I like it. Um, I do have a couple reservations with the cloth
9:50
I mean, with all these Mezco figures, they, they tend to have this, like, bunching when
9:56
you start to pose them in funny ways. I mean, right now, his crotch is really pronounced
10:01
It looks a bit silly. Um, and, but, I mean, that's just a matter of moving it around
10:06
I still like this figure. I think it's pretty cool. Um, and yeah, for $80 and a year's wait, I think it was worth it
10:15
Anywho, if you go to AIPTComics.com, you'll see my score, uh, some pictures, and some
10:20
additional thoughts on this figure. But, uh, yeah, if you like this video, don't forget to subscribe
10:25
Uh, we're gonna have more, way more Mezco action figure unboxing, uh, reviews
10:30
And, uh, thanks for watching. Thanks, guys
