Hey guys, Dave here from amptcomics.com and I have a new unboxing review for you
0:13
It is the Amazon exclusive Defenders 4 action figure box set and I'm pretty excited about
0:21
this one. I actually got to see it and hold this box at San Diego Comic Con a couple months ago
0:27
and I was really impressed with the box. And also it's retailing for $80 but you can actually get it cheaper on Amazon right now
0:38
if you go and pre-order. Actually, I think it's not even pre-order right now, you can just order it
0:43
Though I think originally they were saying that it would come out around December 1st
0:48
Anywho, let's break this thing open and check it out. Alright as you can see the front is beautifully drawn and it's got our four characters
0:59
Obviously they're in slightly different costumes than they are in the show but they're actually
1:06
the more comic book versions. Jessica Jones here is in the jewel costume and Cage has got his metal wristbands and
1:16
then we've got Iron Fist in his Hickman style shirtless costume and then the traditional Daredevil
1:26
So what's really cool about this box actually is that it has velcro so opening it is a big
1:34
part of the experience. Of course once these toys are out I don't know if people are going to save the box or not
1:40
Anywho, it says Defenders at the top which is actually a really excellent comic right
1:45
now by Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez. We've got bio, alias, other information here on all the characters which is pretty cool
1:55
in different languages so hey look at that we can actually learn something here
2:00
You cross examine what the languages say. And we have snapshots of each of the characters which actually mimics the front
2:11
This is a Marvel Legends action figure set and again it is an Amazon exclusive
2:18
And then on the side actually it's really cool we have logos for each of the characters
2:23
I'm not familiar with this one for Jessica Jones. I like it though
2:27
And on the back we have some sweet photography, probably photoshopped a bit to look extra
2:34
dynamic and cool. And as you can see the characters are in an alleyway in probably New York City
2:41
And then warnings and what not more of those logos. So anywho, let's open this
2:48
This is going to be pretty easy though. So the toys just slide right out
2:55
And oh one last thing. There's actually it says Marvel and then Defenders on the top of the box and it's actually lifted
3:04
up a little bit. Kind of a nice little extra feature. So the toys themselves
3:09
They don't come with a lot of accessories. Obviously Iron Fist has two flame balls
3:15
Luke Cage has nothing. Joule or Jessica Jones has nothing. And then Daredevil has his sticks
3:24
And they're actually red and silver which is new for Daredevil. I think in 2005 the Marvel Legends set, or was it 2016, had a, the Spider-Man wave had
3:35
a Daredevil action figure which you can see right here. And let's just do a really quick comparison
3:45
As you can see the new Daredevil is a little bit brighter red, not as dark
3:50
The eyes have more detail, a little bit black in there. And there's actually some black on the horns themselves which is kind of cool
3:57
And then the DD is different too. It's outlined with black. Similar belt, although again it's darker on the new Daredevil
4:07
And then the Billy Clubs are white on the original, or the 2016 version
4:13
And they're red now which is huge because these white ones are a bit lame
4:19
Kind of generic. Any character could be wielding those. Also the Billy Club pouch is a different color
4:27
The boots, actually the whole thing is just a slightly different color. I think this new Daredevil though, a lot better, a lot better looking
4:36
The paint job is just a little bit more detailed and, I don't know, high-end
4:43
Then we've got Danny Rand, Iron Fist. He's got some taped up hands which is some nice detail there
4:49
Looks like they're dirty even. If only there was some blood splatter
4:54
I'm sure someone will do that and post pictures online someday. He's got some really green pants
5:01
This is basically a reissue of the same figure that we've seen before but he is shirtless now
5:15
And the pants are a little bit different in color. We've got the yellow bandana which looks pretty cool actually
5:24
And he does not have a beard at all. The paint job on the chest piece is really nice
5:31
I like it. Although there's a little bit of black right there that's not perfect
5:38
Got the usual peg holes at the bottom. On the back. This figure you can definitely pose and make him look pretty awesome
5:49
Then we have Luke Cage. The cool thing about these figures, just right off the bat, you can tell that Cage is a little
5:58
bit taller. He's a little bit more of a burly dude so when you pose them together you can tell the difference
6:06
That's what makes this toy so good I think, the comparison size
6:13
And let's see, looking at his face, got some good detail on the facial hair
6:18
Ooh, he's got a bit of a divot on his head. I'm going to have to iron that out
6:24
Pretty basic toy. Not a lot to this character anyway. The belt is actually a bit separate
6:31
It actually moves a little. And the yellow is a nice darker yellow
6:36
Suits the character. If you are a big fan of the TV show Jessica Jones you'll notice that this is actually
6:44
a costume she wore briefly as a bit of a gag. She clearly didn't want to wear it
6:49
It was ridiculous. And you can probably see why. It's skin tight and revealing of her body
6:55
There's a nice little purple shape on her belt there. The hair is very purple
7:04
This face looks familiar. I'm thinking it's one of the recent spider girl or woman face molds
7:13
I can't pinpoint it though. It's got a nice sheen, the color
7:17
You can see the shininess of the blue belt. The paint job is pretty good
7:23
The hair is just a little ridiculous. But I don't know. And then we've got Daredevil. Alright
7:31
As we pointed out earlier, the paint job around the eyes and the horns is really cool
7:36
Just a little bit different from the rest so it looks special
7:40
And then the Daredevil emblem on his chest is well defined. Yeah, the paint job in general is really good
7:50
But again, these are basically the same figure. So if you already have this Spider-Man wave Daredevil, I don't know if you're going to want or need it
8:01
It is slightly better though. And you can't beat these Billy Claws
8:08
They're pretty sweet. Let's actually take these guys out. So..
8:34
You can connect it so it's one piece, or separate it so it's two
8:39
And then... Yeah, the silver on the tips is nice. It actually looks like metal. There's like some detail into it that's pretty cool
8:50
And as you can see, there's a backdrop of New York City on top of a building
8:55
I don't know if it's really usable, but it's nice and subtle
9:01
And then nothing else to the cardboard. So, what we have here is an $80 package for four toys
9:08
So $20 each, which is about what a regular Marvel Legends action figure retails for
9:14
That said, each figure doesn't have a lot of accessories. They're kind of just the figure
9:20
Luke Cage and Jessica Jones specifically just have... Well, they have nothing. They just have their molds and their paint jobs
9:26
That said, we're buying this for the package, right? And if you wanted the Defenders, this is a pretty cool combo
9:33
Not combo. This is a pretty cool... What would you call it? Quadro
9:38
Of the action figures. Now, that said, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to go out and buy the TV version of Jessica Jones
9:47
and then combine it here, because... I don't know. She didn't wear this costume very long for a variety of reasons
9:53
Least of which is it's a bit ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of the paint job
9:58
I mean, I don't know who's asking for this figure. I guess it's cool for those collectors who want everything, and they got it
10:06
They have now a jewel action figure. The Luke Cage is really cool
10:11
It's more of the modern, traditional look of him. And also, at STCC a few years ago, there was an exclusive of him, which is really hard to find
10:21
And it's really expensive. So it's nice that Hasbro put one of these guys out
10:25
because now anyone can get it and not pay an arm or a leg to have him
10:29
The Daredevil is definitely an improvement on the 2016 Marvel Legends Spider-Man wave Daredevil
10:38
I don't know if it's a big enough improvement to warrant a purchase of this
10:42
but if you're a huge Daredevil fan and want the comic book version
10:46
the best version of the comic book version in action figure form
10:50
he is a good pickup, I think. And then I really like this Iron Fist
10:54
I don't currently own an Iron Fist. I know there's a couple different versions of this character out there now
10:59
But the shirtless version with the flame balls on the hands is quite nice
11:07
I don't have it, so it's a nice addition to my collection. Overall, I'm a tad overwhelmed, especially for $80
11:15
I don't know if each figure is really worth $20 each. That said, it's really cool to have all four at once
11:23
And the packaging is just stellar. Really, really nice. So, if you go to AIPTComics.com, you can see my score and my full review
11:33
Some additional thoughts and feelings on this package, because this really is just a snap judgment of what I think
