taste for my taste I'm drinking wine I know but you know to make samp the wine
0:14
for a real a real wine and not like a wine that you turn your nose up to I
0:21
have very expensive taste and oh God don't you dare white SEL oh
0:29
my God all the black people
0:35
hits hey hey welcome back to another episode of t t what's up um a lot yeah it's been a
0:45
busy week it's been really busy what have you been up to [ __ ] [ __ ] out and choking [ __ ]
0:52
out [ __ ] them up yeah I've been uh doing a little Jiu-Jitsu in my free time
0:57
you know on a Jiu-Jitsu tour yeah usually Saturday is my off day but I've been using it to choke [ __ ] out I mean
1:04
that's not a bad way to spend your Saturday hey it's pretty fun I actually met a lot of uh nice girls at the
1:09
tournament they were all very thrilled to you know get CH out by a UFC fire
1:15
yeah exactly exactly but you know um we were talking to uh we were talking to
1:21
Eric Anders the other day and I really share his sentiment with the fact that
1:26
I'm going in there into their territory and everyone knows who you are like everyone knows like oh it's UFC fighter
1:34
so when you win it's like okay you're supposed to and then when you lose it's
1:39
like oh I beat a UFC fighter so there's a lot of pressure on you doing stuff like that yeah for sure I feel that I
1:46
mean I I kind of feel that when people come in and train for sure they're always there's always kind of a a Target
1:54
on your back when you know you've you've made it to the UFC like oh a superstar
2:00
like doing the thing the dream she's I want I want to test my my metal is that
2:05
what people say uh yeah metal like M TT l e is that how you spell
2:12
it like m e t l oh yeah that's probably
2:17
it well there there is a saying that uh where you know you just like you test yourself to see where you're at in
2:23
comparison to where you want to be right and what better marker for that is to you know test yourself a against you up
2:29
SE fighter so yeah that's always like bragging rights no exactly so good job [ __ ]
2:36
and the ghee that beat me by referee's decision oh but she was actually really nice and she's a dancer she's a pro
2:43
dancer so it felt a little better Pole or like ballet um ballet but I wouldn't
2:50
be surprised she jumped on me like a pole oh she legit
2:55
did she was a guard jumper she could she she jumped on the pole and was able to
3:01
hold with just her legs how was that leg strength was that leg it was good I was I was pushing her down and then she just
3:07
like hop back up like she was climbing climbing a ladder the PO I know where
3:12
your dancing credentials came from I see you sis we need to go back to classes we do
3:19
it's been a minute it has it's been too long yeah especially if I do another
3:26
grappling tournament I feel like that's definitely going to give me an edge definitely help you with your like your
3:32
guard your leg locks like all of that stuff yeah yeah so I'm definitely going
3:37
to jump on that but I did get gold and noi so I was happy about that um purple
3:43
belt butal a metal working my way up there and I think I'm going to do
3:49
ADCC trials this year so they added a weight class right yeah they have the
3:54
little chicks so I feel a lot more comfortable going up against like that one and his day before weigh-in so it's
4:01
going to be kind of similar to the weight that I'll be fighting at so I'm
4:06
excited [ __ ] yeah yeah we'll see what happens how was your week um oh my god
4:13
I've we've already talked about Tulum we've talked about Florida um I just got
4:18
back from Vegas so I've been traveling non-stop since the New Year even before the new year I've been traveling a lot
4:24
yeah what the [ __ ] sit your ass down you know what I'm just like I'm sad I can't train I'm trying to like do things you
4:31
know to keep me busy and not sad cuz quite frankly I'm getting really
4:38
tired of lifting me I mean at least I can do something you know that's definitely a positive I can I can do
4:44
some sort of physical activity but it's not the kind of physical activity that I want to do um but I've been trying to
4:51
like really immerse myself in the lifting thing um but I just got back from Vegas I was invited to the second
4:59
celebrity Poker Tour Tournament oh and it was super fun saw our friend Al
5:04
Jamaine oh and then there was uh big country was also there representing for
5:10
the MMA fighters lots of football players and um some baseball players and
5:16
other like um YouTube and Instagram Tik Tok like influencer type people who is the biggest like celebrity for you that
5:24
you met like the person you were like oh my God I I nobody they they they didn't
5:31
get it wasn't my demographic it definitely wasn't but I was really happy to see Alaine it's always really nice
5:37
seeing him he's you know he's a sweetheart he is he's such a gentleman yeah it was really nice seeing him I met
5:43
uh big country's wife in the bathroom she was a sweetheart oh cool I all bad cuz I like just got done washing my
5:49
hands and I couldn't like sh you do the like I'm so happy to meet you the
5:55
fingertip hug yeah um but yeah it was it
6:01
was really nice um I did fairly well for it only being my second time playing
6:06
poker I I got some you know tips and tricks to kind of like stick to and I
6:12
stocked in for a little bit and then I started drinking a little bit and then I got a little loose oh no and I started
6:18
gambling instead of you know playing poker and strategizing ah what's the
6:23
difference um just being like more intentional and sticking to like you
6:29
play and what you fold okay and then so um once I got to like the second table
6:36
you know where a lot of people were dropping out and they started like mixing and matching people at different tables um you know just to mix things up
6:43
um I started playing with people who like really knew how to
6:49
play and I was falling for stuff just because I was like no they've got to be
6:54
bluffing or I was trying to like go in too hard on bets with um with like a low
7:02
pair instead of sticking to like the blackjack rules where like if you have um a 10 or higher you go ahead and like
7:10
play with those but I was like oh I have a pair of twos maybe I can get a pair you know uh uh three of a kind or you
7:18
know something else and which one time I did so I once was like oh I'm going to do that again and it never like works the second time yeah um so it was a
7:25
really good learning experience I had a lot of fun I'll definitely go back again if you know I get the call back um I was
7:33
also like really surprised so there it's you know Super Bowl weekend in Vegas and
7:39
there's ton of you know football players that are at this event you know um
7:45
previous or or current players and I was really
7:52
surprised how bad they were at taking like [ __ ] talking really did you talk
7:57
[ __ ] to them I did and they were sad why you about it I was
8:03
miring energy wait because there well what did they what did you say I was
8:09
just talking [ __ ] was was Ian Gary there was he one of them no he wasn't but he I would have made him cry to be honest um
8:17
no there was just I was trying to like Heckle and you know have fun and get the table talking and they were like why are
8:25
you so aggressive I was like I fight people in a cage that's kind of my thing wait have to give me an example of what
8:30
you said because I can see both sides of this story I can see
8:36
it being the Jess version or I can see it being the real version so I'd like to
8:43
see can you reenact what you actually one of the things you said I can't even remember I just remember seeing the
8:49
shocked faces like why are you coming at me this way I was like you just came at me so I was giving it back you just
8:55
remember the drinks you feeling it so yes you were
9:02
like and everyone cried no I made friends at the table but
9:08
there was one person in particular that was just like who was it it was a baseball player apparently they are not
9:16
as tough as football players well yeah they don't get hit on purpose true true
9:21
if they get hit they get to walk to the next Bas so I have like the mindset I
9:26
was like listen locker rooms are extreme hostile places and there's no way
9:31
anything I say to these people is going to shake them because they've hurt at all not the case girls aren't allowed in
9:38
the Rock logger room for good reason yeah you cut too deep you cut too deep
9:44
man that's the problem you know all the buttons to push I was like really I expected more
9:52
that's so funny well it it is hard because we're around Fighters too and
9:57
Fighters are some of the hardest nosed people athletes on the planet yeah
10:03
especially MMA fighters so we get used to talking [ __ ] to them yeah and then we
10:08
take it out into the regular public and it doesn't go over as easily people are
10:13
clutching their pearls even big big scary football
10:19
players really why is this giant so afraid of me what am I a mouse he an
10:26
elephant that's funny no it was just really funny so well I'm glad you made friends and you didn't traumatize
10:32
everyone I made some friends some not so friends uh I'll do better next time yeah how's
10:41
the poker face it was amazing yeah let's see it winning hand or losing hand I can't
10:49
tell I can't tell uh I fold nice yeah it was a lot of fun
10:56
though I'll I'll definitely do it again very very cool very cool do you know when the next one is um they've been
11:02
doing it every well I mean this is their second one but the last one was I think around August oh okay so it's like a
11:09
seasonal thing kind of it should be uh two more this year and I'll definitely
11:14
put your name in in the basket because they like personalities oh and I'm a big
11:19
loser at poer so I won't hurt anyone's feelings too much when they take all my
11:27
money uh all right well did you get time to check out the fights this weekend I
11:32
was at the tournament but I got to like kind of you know how you're like just glancing at stuff when you're in public
11:39
that's kind of what we do nowadays you have like a an important event to go to
11:44
you're like the dad with the football playing on the radio I have no shame about it like there yeah if fights are
11:51
on I'm I'm watching them I mean even even if it's only like half watching I'm still I'm connected I want to I want to
11:58
fill the you know the live stuff that happens you know it's it's not as
12:04
exciting when it's not happening live so when I'm looking at my phone just even if I'm glancing at it in between matches
12:10
and then I see someone sinking in a choke I'm like oh oh it's about oh he tapped and you know it just happened I
12:17
don't know for some reason that's way more exciting it's like being back in you know the warmup room before a fight
12:23
watching the fights be beforeand sometimes that like stresses me out a little bit but for the most part I'm just like you know I can like pull from
12:30
that energy and get myself excited but sometimes it gets a little nervous you just got to be careful where you um
12:37
fantasize yourself being true because a lot of times absolutely a lot of times I'll be
12:43
backstage and I'm watching a typical Striker versus Grappler fight and if the
12:48
Striker's doing well I'm like oh yeah that's what I'm going to do but if the grappler is doing well I'm like oh
12:54
no what if that happens to me and it's such an unnerving feeling but you just
12:59
have to put yourself in the winner situation um for instance oh yeah I was
13:04
working at choke yesterday so I can possibly get that choke right now and that's kind of what I was doing with
13:10
when I was watching the fights I was like oh I'm GNA go for that head and arm when I get this next match but it was
13:16
cool to jump back and watch everything after it unfolded and it was a pretty
13:22
good night of fights you know what I was kind of a jerk and I was like oh it's an apex card Super Bowl weekend it's like
13:30
you know it's not usfc 298 that I've been looking forward to but it was a good card it was and then the uh the
13:37
final fight everyone you know the main event everyone wrote off Jack Hermanson
13:42
I did too it's easy to do that I mean Piper I keep wanting to call him Fifer
13:48
but Piper Piper he has some crazy knockouts on his highlight Rail and we
13:54
know Hermanson gets has gotten knocked out before he's taken a lot of damage in the fights that he's won so it was kind
14:02
of one of those things where this is that Crossroads in in the guy's career he beats her Manon he's getting a quick
14:09
shot to the title if not he knows he has some work to do before he gets that shot and that's kind of what happened he he
14:16
lost it was competitive if it were three rounds that's what I was just going to say if it were three rounds it would be
14:23
a different story he'd be moving on to the next guy but now he has to take a step back yeah it was um it was
14:30
interesting like listening to a story talking about you know him just like really having to immerse himself in MMA
14:35
because he felt like he really didn't have anything like going for himself which you know I I can understand so
14:41
it's really cool to see what he's done in such a short amount of time in the sport and I think that this type of
14:47
fight will only Elevate him or give him the opportunity to elevate himself because it'll definitely it'll
14:54
definitely give him a lot of feedback and answerers some questions as to what
15:01
he needs to do to move forward and and keep growing in the division um the way
15:06
he came out in the first two rounds was how I thought the fight was going to go and then he started getting taxed it
15:13
it's really hard to keep that kind of power output up for five rounds and I
15:18
don't know that he managed his his power uh for that five rounder and I've also
15:25
got to say I was really impr impressed with uh Hermanson and his his takedowns like and just showing his his veteran
15:32
status and experience yeah I think uh the tide really turned in that third
15:39
round where Hermanson just came out jabbing out of nowhere and it felt like
15:44
one of those moments where your coach is telling you you got to throw the jab you got to throw the jab you're like okay
15:52
jab jab sure sure jab will work and then you finally throw it and you go
15:57
oh he was right and then you can't stop throwing it and that's kind of what
16:03
happened he was throwing this really fast jab CF kit combination and it was
16:09
working perfectly for him especially the way that Piper was coming in he was slowing down he was easier to tag he was
16:16
easier to just kind of make mess and then hit the leg at when there's weight on it and um that was really the moment
16:24
where you started seeing Piper like hesitate you started seeing him second
16:29
guess himself started seeing him getting hurt there was one moment where her Manson jabbed him and he flinched real
16:35
hard like there was like a you know that that face people make when something gets broken or feels like it got broken
16:42
like it's it's not an eye poke it's just like oh what the hell um he made that
16:47
face a few times so I think Hermanson surprised a lot of people with his
16:52
boxing and then everything else that he does well just flowed together perfectly because he started throwing on that jab
16:59
and putting that calf kick in there and I think Piper even um afterwards was
17:04
crediting the calf kick to the reason why he just couldn't get things going after after the second
17:11
round it's as somebody sorry I sto talking as you drank I was like I was
17:16
like oh no I need a
17:21
breath we both needed a breath hey cheers for that good job
17:26
Jack yeah I do love an upset though especially
17:33
when it's one of those old eat or young eats the old type of fights I love it
17:39
when the old eats the young sit down junior it's kind of
17:44
gruesome and let me teach you something like something you'd see on National Geographic the male lion comes from
17:51
another pride and you kills all the Cubs from the from the other mail line or
17:56
something but it feels like that you know you you humble the Next Generation
18:02
you let them know there's a lot more they need to learn because MMA is so
18:07
much there's so many skills that you have to uh get a grasp of and it's it
18:13
amazes me every time I learn something new because we've been doing it for so long like we're coming close to how many
18:21
years two decades we're coming oh you're coming close to two decades I was just talking about tough uh when like 10
18:29
years ago it's we're coming close to 10 years next next year or or will it be
18:34
this summer yep I think it's going to be this summer it's going to be 10 years at
18:40
since tough since we first got into UFC and we're still learning new [ __ ] every
18:45
day so it's it it always amazes me and then when you're able to still be
18:51
athletic and still be fast you can really put that experience to use against the younger generation so that's
18:56
what Hermanson did and uh it was awesome to see yeah I'm definitely a fan of it
19:01
as well yeah but I think we like the five rounders the older the older
19:07
generation we'll let him wear himself out for two round they're going to do it they don't manage output an energy come
19:13
at me oh you almost got me you almost got me gotta be quicker than that then
19:19
when they're tired bam get them put them in place put them on my lap and whoop them
19:27
um yeah there was a there a lot of good fights though like that one was really cool um I got to look at my and pH the
19:35
and I got to talk about that not just the fight but kind of like the backstory about it too yes so we had so we we interviewed
19:44
um oh my God Lon Lon and he was supposed to take on Dan eay yes and Andre fely
19:52
stepped in on kind of short notice but he had fought about eight weeks ago coming off a victory and he stepped up
19:59
and so the the backstory with it which I didn't realize but he took the fight
20:05
with eay because well they had trained together they had been training together and they were talking about this on the
20:10
broadcast and it just you know put a lot of things you know in my mind
20:17
because what what eay was saying was like listen like I'm nice to my training Partners I I know the power that I have
20:25
and I get beat up in training he's like I don't I don't train with ego I'm trying to be a good partner I'm trying
20:31
to learn and he was you know he took it personal that Andre fely stepped in and
20:37
not only like answered the call but like made the call was like Hey I want this
20:43
fight you know he was looking to get back in the rankings and he was looking to oh I didn't know he made the call and
20:50
as that's what was said okay that's what they were talking about um uh during the
20:56
interviews that that eay had during that came up right during fight week and um
21:02
he was saying you know yeah he probably made that call because he was beating me up in training because Danny gay is
21:09
trying to learn and grow and take care of his training Partners which is really important so it it made me feel a little
21:15
bit and I understood why he would be emotional emotional and take it personal
21:21
because he's a pretty like even killed guy very respectful in there and it just
21:26
made me feel kind of a you know a certain type of way about somebody stepping in like that yeah it's like um
21:32
the training room can be hostile but it should be kind of a safe space like for
21:38
for a fighter for myself to to learn and grow make mistakes and not be punished
21:44
for them you know what I mean yeah um so when you have somebody that like trains
21:51
with you and then takes that information and then goes around and
21:56
tries to take a fight with you like that's I feel like that's crossing a line I I
22:01
understand you guys aren't teammates I understand you know you're not at the same gym you know your casual training
22:07
Partners but still I just feel very strongly about that that that's something that you just really shouldn't
22:12
do yeah I I agree and we have our little sparring group and a lot of times I'll
22:19
be telling people the same thing especially in the lower ranks when it
22:24
doesn't really mean as much like on the regional scenes and stuff um I'll tell
22:30
our teammates hey she's a better teammate than an opponent yes and if you
22:35
guys fight right now there might be all sorts of drama coming out um afterwards
22:40
and it's not going to be worth it it's it's different when you're not at the
22:46
same gy so I get where both of them are coming from like touchy Philly he's at
22:51
team alphamale and if they were training together a lot I feel like that would be
22:57
kind of annoy Nob brainer we're we're not going to fight each other and I think you also have to talk about that
23:03
too and you've welcome somebody into your gym and you guys are training a lot you have to be like hey these are my
23:10
boundaries like I'm not I don't want you calling me out we're not fighting together if we're going to be putting
23:15
this much work in together as teammates and if you don't have that conversation then it's kind of up in the air yeah you
23:23
can't really rely on somebody to act as you would or or hope that they act there
23:29
definitely has to be a conversation but I also think that if you're doing cross trainining I feel like there is a bit of
23:35
an Unwritten rule that like hey you're coming to me like we're helping each
23:41
other you're coming into my gym I can go into your gym it's kind of a a mutual
23:48
respect an an Unwritten rule that that sort of thing should happen and I saw you know phy on the stool after the
23:55
fight and he apologized or just like acknowledged like hey you know I was
24:01
trying to do this this and that like I'm sorry kind of thing which which was you know and I want to know what he
24:09
said because it sounded like it sounded like he said something along the lines of oh I didn't want to take the fight
24:16
but blah blah blah blah and then and then eay says I know so I'm wondering
24:21
what he said I'm not exactly clear on what he said because if he said what you said during the interviews then that's a
24:28
totally different story from what I thought he said on the stool it sounded a little a little bit like like hey I
24:35
you know had to take this opportunity like he was on the chopping block and a lot of times that happens too where
24:42
you're on the choing chopping block if you do a favor for the UFC then you can
24:48
save yourself another another contract sure or another you can end your
24:53
contract at least if they're looking to cut people and I know they've been pretty willy-nilly with the cutting lately so I
25:01
can I can see that too your back's against the wall you have to fight your friend a lot of people are going to
25:06
choose to fight their friend it's true it's the truth like a
25:12
lot of people are going to choose that even though it's an individual sport you
25:19
have a team that gets you there yeah and and that's you know my point of view it
25:25
is it's more valuable as you were seeing before it's more valuable to have good
25:30
training Partners than to use them as a stepping stool to get where you want
25:36
because you know eventually you're G to you're going to get where you want to go you're going to you know reach those goals and you don't necessarily have to
25:43
go that route I just think there's a better way and I think Philly learned that
25:51
because he ate that second punch and he didn't need to there was a lot of emotion in that second punch punch and
25:58
eay is not that kind of guy no but he like he put a stamp on it he was going to let Bryce Mitchell pray with
26:05
him the end of their fight he was that nice he was gonna he was gonna do it
26:11
Michael bising put a stop to it but he was gonna do it he's not that type of guy he's very humble he's very um he's
26:18
very religious you know he's he's very um softspoken he likes to talk with his
26:26
power with his hands and the cage not outside of it so it was cool to see him
26:31
get that redeeming moment kind of like after you felt you got stabbed in the
26:37
back hey you got to stab him in the face you know that that's the greatest SLE it
26:43
it had to it had to feel good he's a he's a a Christian but that had to feel
26:50
good Jesus forgave him I mean God is the most vengeful character in The Great
26:56
book so he smited him it's all about it he smited him right there with that second
27:04
punch um but yeah I agree I don't like the idea of people working together and
27:10
then fighting each other and then it's hard enough out there you know someone's going to catch feelings and there always
27:17
a tough one out but um yeah I don't I don't blame Philly for going for it because a lot of times your back is
27:23
against the wall and there's not as many options out there out outside of the UFC
27:29
as there used to be no and for a while it seemed that there there were but like
27:35
I'm hearing Shady stuff about 1fc and then you know Bellator being dissolved into pfl it's like and Kate I heard
27:43
stuff about them too like always heard stuff about I mean everyone's heard stuff about
27:48
K so the the the the what do you call it the pool of just promotions is getting
27:56
smaller more condensed and you don't really want to go out there into the
28:02
wild if you don't have to you know I was thinking about it I'm like I've been you
28:07
know recently I've been to some like you know local shows smaller shows uh or you
28:13
know smaller circuit shows and I'm just like man I feel really thankful like super thankful I mean like man you don't
28:21
you really don't have to worry about like a lot of like Logistics you don't have to worry about anything and like
28:28
being out in in the wild as you put it in The Fray wild yeah it's crazy out
28:35
there [ __ ] is crazy I mean you know there's just like nobody's checking and balancing things stuff gets like lost
28:44
all the time like it's just it's kind of crazy so I'm very thankful that I've had the opportunity to fight for this you
28:51
know pristine well-oiled machine even though you know there are pros and cons to everything I'm just I'm very thank
28:58
to be here yeah as soon as you go outside of the UFC you realize what you're you realize what you're missing
29:04
out on and like for me I got cut and went to Invicta and Invicta was also a
29:10
well well oiled machine at the time but there were a lot of things that I kind
29:15
of took for granted because my second fight was in MMA was in the UFC so I was
29:21
like oh man everything is like my first fight everything is like that country uh
29:29
fight promotion that I fought on in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina like that's what most of outside of the UFC
29:36
is like and you have better and worse versions of that but you're never going
29:41
to get the pi you're never going to get uh a full set of clothes which people
29:47
were annoyed with at the time but now it's kind of convenient um you're never going to get nutritionists and and
29:54
doctors checking in on you during your weight cut and there's just a lot of things that uh the UFC does that makes
30:01
it more professional and more of an actual organization than a lot of the
30:08
other ones out there so you can see why someone if their back was against the wall like uh uh every now and then I'll
30:14
talk to a fighter and I'm like man you took that fight like that's crazy why would you take that fight not to be not
30:21
to be rude but that was crazy that you took that fight Kudos see you have some balls on you and they say hey
30:28
I had to you got to be a company like a company player sometimes yeah
30:34
and it is what it is poor Philly like he ate a he ate a few punches for the
30:39
company but I bet they'll call him again you know for sure I don't think he was
30:44
going anywhere honestly he was coming like he was really turning himself around he had like really reinvented
30:50
himself so he was you know coming from he he just won right um let me check I'm
30:58
pretty sure he was on like two win two fight win streak so I don't necessarily
31:03
think that he was on The Chopping Block I think he was just trying to break into the rankings exactly and the thing is if
31:10
you're if your contract is almost up then there's always a chance that you
31:19
could not be getting called back you know like there's always that chance
31:24
especially um in a stacked division like the featherweight division so he he
31:31
won his last one he lost he won he's been yeah he's been kind of like odd and
31:39
even on everything and like honestly that's the type of record that gets cut um
31:44
it's the fact that I've done a lot of favors with the UFC I feel like that has
31:49
a lot to do with me sticking around and and not getting cut when the contract comes up to question and I think a lot
31:56
of people end up doing favors like that just to stay in the good graces of the
32:04
UFC roster Gods yeah absolutely so um unfortunate that it had
32:13
to end with drama but I feel like they squashed it after that and they're good you can always count on dudes to like
32:19
punch it out yeah and go get a beer afterwards yeah like it seemed like they squashed it um but I really I really do
32:27
love the way eay fights he fights like a little tank it's um it the justos of his
32:35
Style versus Philly you can see how he kind of tries to touchy Philly kind of
32:40
tries to move out of the way of danger and be more loose and fluid and then e just comes in like like this battle tank
32:48
like a battle Toad and then when the punches come out they're so sharp they're so fast it's it's really scary
32:54
and really cool to watch it's that that body type matchup like me being like
33:00
kind of a a long linky gangly fighter it you know I don't have that power that
33:06
like a shorter stockier like tank body type you know does so it's um
33:14
sometimes that can be a really tough matchup uh if you have that kind of um
33:20
striking Style versus striking style that body type versus that body type I feel like there's a lot of times where
33:27
where the shorter stalker stockier lower Center gravity Fighter um has has that
33:33
edge there there's a very specific way to fight somebody like that yeah yeah he he did a good job um and I felt like
33:41
that camp too if you come in short notice against like uh someone from that
33:46
camp then you're going to have your work cut out for you because they have so many fighters so many highlevel fighters
33:53
coming through building game plans with uh Eric nixi that you're always going to be kind of at a disadvantage because
34:00
they have so much experience just creating game plans for different body types for different styles for different
34:06
techniques and stuff like that so he's uh it's a tough one he's definitely like
34:12
making a name for himself putting a stamp on that camp just because of like
34:18
the Readiness of the fighters yeah he's always got to Ace up his sleeve when it comes to uh quick
34:25
like quick uh adjustments during the fight yeah so another fight I was super
34:32
excited about tell me was rodol oh my goodness Robo oh not
34:40
rodol Robocop Robocop is so cool that [ __ ] Cuts so much weight see I
34:46
look I look at him and I'm just like it's not fair so I I mixed them up
34:53
because they have the same arms have you rodo and RoboCop have the same exact
34:58
arms they're only different colors but they have so many veins it both of their
35:04
arms look like that like bro handshake that Arie did in Predator with the with
35:11
homeboy like that's what their biceps look like and so are you talking about RoboCop or rodulfo I I'm saying they
35:18
have the same arm okay I'm talking about both of them okay you not listen to me
35:24
I'm sorry I was trying to catch up but uh yeah no RoboCop is the one I'm
35:31
more of a fan of rodao grew on me he uh he kind of had a rough start in the UFC
35:37
he getting too much weight gassing out in fights and then getting tapped by what like a a blue belt or purple belt
35:43
something belt it was he shouldn't have gotten tapped by that guy basically on paper but this guy was an MMA fighter
35:51
and he was coming in as more of a Jiu-Jitsu guy and uh he lost a fight to
35:57
Chris Curtis I think after that but then he's won a few and this one was a real
36:02
nice finish like that head and arm trying or head and arm choke was just
36:07
super slick the way he like hopped over the mount got in there laid flat didn't
36:13
have to pass he just stayed in that mount position and got the choke like money and then I was laughing because at
36:21
the end they're doing the postf fight speech and he's going oh I squee S I
36:27
squeezed until I couldn't see anymore like what the [ __ ] and then I
36:33
look at his arm and you can see every vein in this guy's arm his biceps are as
36:39
big as his head he looks insane like it's not fair a lot of asai in his so
36:47
much asai competition days him and RoboCop oh my God there aai is off the
36:54
charts somebody call you s they I mean they're gone oh yeah I actually I actually got a
37:02
visit while I was at my jiu-jitsu tournament stop it the one day they come
37:07
the one day I'm not in in like s an hour away from my house they came yesterday
37:15
what I know and I'm talking to her through the ring and I'm like oh wait she's being kind of pressed like she
37:21
might be someone I need to talk to so I answered it she's like hello I'm here with the U uh the UFC anti-doping
37:30
commission I'm like [ __ ] so I updated my whereabouts real quick I like sorry not
37:36
here but yeah it's just my luck hopefully I don't have a strike against me this is the only assai I
37:46
take my liquid Carriage to help me and I don't do that you know in competition
37:54
time so could you imagine it might be easier I feel like fight a little
38:01
tipsy I don't know I'm not sure I think it depends on how long the fight goes
38:06
cuz you could easily get drunk and knock someone the [ __ ] out it would definitely give me some like courage yeah that's
38:14
what I'm saying look what courage it's a thing it's a thing I think I think if it was one minute
38:22
rounds one minute rounds two- minute break I get to rehydrate and then have a
38:28
beer and then go back out there for another round I could totally fight someone
38:36
drunk I mean I feel like I try to F people I I always postrate though I
38:42
never actually do anything but I always feel like Scrappy Doo little bit little
38:47
bit feistier than normal just a tiny bit I'm just like little angsty an I get
38:53
you it makes me happy it's not even even that it takes my angst away it's not
38:59
even that threatening I'm just [Music] like come here let me at her and then
39:06
she gets really sleepy and then I fall asleep yes I found I didn't find but on
39:13
my time hop today or was it yesterday no it was today um oh yeah I I got time
39:20
hopped a video of sleepy drunk an you love that video you sent it to me like
39:26
20 times because it's hilarious cuz we are literally cuz it comes up every year
39:31
okay it comes up every year so to other ones but I think that one was the funniest why though it's just like me
39:37
sleeping but we were at a gym fight party at a fight viewing party it's hilarious I've fallen asleep well I
39:43
wasn't drunk but I've fallen asleep at a metal concert before like we were at a Slayer concert and they're playing like
39:52
I forget who was opening up for him but some band was opening up for him and and it's
39:58
like and I'm sitting there I found a seat yes it was to that was that noise
40:06
you know that that uh mimics the uterus noise yes what what is that called it was just White Noise for me yeah the am
40:15
ASMR whatever that is something like that yeah it it put me right to sleep I was sick though that was my excuse I
40:22
wasn't drunk I was sick that's amazing uh but we digress we digress um
40:29
RoboCop's fight was insane um he's just like so strong and I
40:36
I hate that he had to fight Brad tavarus because I feel like he gets the the scariest of the scary he really does you
40:44
know and I mean he I mean I chop it up to like he you know company man but he
40:49
also believes in himself and he's he's a tough fighter he's very skilled he's a hard hitter he can put you out with one
40:56
punch but he does seem to get some really tough fights he's gotten the
41:01
toughest recently and um you know he he still gives them trouble you know but
41:07
this fight especially um was kind of a showcase fight for RoboCop he he was
41:12
just able to pressure really good like right off the bat push him up against the fence make him uh run for a second
41:20
you know not like run like Conor McGregor but just kind of skirt the side of the fence and really try to get away
41:26
from his pressure and then those turbo combos that he landed looked straight
41:31
out of a video game it's again it it's really hard for me on on these
41:39
kinds of MMA fighters that cut a ton of weight this is what you know this is why
41:45
we have anti-doping because or you know this is why we monitor the weight cutting and the the pre and post-weight
41:53
so that it evens the playing field and I just I literally look at these guys that cut so much weight and I'm like you have
41:59
a really unfair Advantage like it's not [ __ ] fair I I just have a hard time with it and it partially because I've
42:06
come up a weight class and seeing people cut down like 125s uh you know 135s that are now 11
42:13
15ers it's just like I just have a hard time with it you do lose something
42:18
though when you cut weight like sure you just have to avoid the barrage that
42:24
happens before that that's where you get to the elite level like the top 10 or
42:30
the top five and that's when you actually see what you have is that
42:36
weight cut going to benefit you or are you going to have to start sizing down so you have that endurance and you're
42:41
able to handle a five round fight because we saw for uh pyer it didn't work out you know we see that for a lot
42:49
of guys who are used to getting those first round finishes that once it goes to decision it doesn't work out you know
42:55
especially once you get a higher ranked opponent but sometimes it really does and you shut your opponent out because
43:02
you have such a power and strength advantage and you get off on it first but who is at the very top that's doing
43:08
that that's like having a crazy weight cut right now right now I think a lot of
43:14
people are oh I mean I can't name it off the bat because I don't have it written down but there are Fighters I mean you
43:19
look it undraw you look at her having a really big run for a long time now maybe
43:26
the weight Cuts cting up with her now maybe the the fight links the amount of damage that she sustained is finally
43:32
catching up with her but it did it served her well for a long time yeah and
43:38
then you have you know other girls in the weight class where it's benefited them you have male Fighters like the
43:44
RoboCop's that you know maybe he's not you know top five but he's still doing
43:50
really well and he does have a huge size advantage and strength advantage and power Advantage as I think the only
43:56
person who has really used that to his benefit is Pera and that's because he didn't have to fight that muchh at the
44:04
weight class where he had a huge size Advantage if he had to continue to fight at that weight class I think a lot of
44:10
people would have figured him out sure but that's what happened with andrad a lot of people figured her out like she
44:15
went on a four-fight loose streak recently and I I I just feel like you
44:21
know whatever you whatever Advantage you get from cutting a ton of weight
44:27
eventually it comes back to bite you in the ass eventually it's it's like steroids eventually you might have a
44:33
heart attack EV eventually like something horrible might happen healthwise that will affect you
44:39
eventually so you know there's there are uh checks and or not checks and balances
44:46
but uh pluses and minuses to every type of Advantage you try to do it's like do you want to do it the healthy way or do
44:53
you want to do it the way that gets you the fastest benefits first it is a tradeoff and I think that
45:02
just from what I've seen that it gets people far and then but eventually I
45:08
don't know how the time frame that it'll start picking up and start like taking
45:13
its toll but it is an advantage that I've seen that I've experienced and I
45:20
think that the whole purpose for anti-doping was and like the weight cut
45:25
check is to prevent that but people are still finding a way around it because still having that size and strength Advantage
45:32
is the best Advantage you can have for a time well wild the weight cut thing only really happens with California now right
45:40
and it's kind of crazy that California uh they're they're big on the
45:45
weight cut thing like making sure you don't rehydrate too big when you fight
45:50
but now they're trying to add that grounded opponent rule too so they're just like kind of let's just mix things
45:57
up let's make our own League you know I feel like there yeah it's great that you're you know focused on this one rule
46:04
that you know may or may not need to be changed but there's a lot of other [ __ ] that you need to be focused
46:09
on as far as rules and judging and the commission and I feel like it's just a
46:14
little like carrot dangled up to be like oh look we're really focused on this
46:20
when it's like we have other like we have bigger issues to be honest like what like
46:27
all right I just blinked out well they're trying to fix fighter pay but the the move that they made
46:35
isn't really going to affect anyone well like the judging yeah like the the judging across the board the the
46:41
commissions being involved um and and not being held accountable I think that's a way more
46:47
pressing issue than like one hand down and posting weight on yeah you say I'm totally down for that but I feel like I
46:54
would need less judges if I could take advantage of that rule if you took away
46:59
that rule like which fight was it um which it was the the RoboCop fight where
47:06
they were he was playing the game and that fight would have been over immediately if that rule wasn't in play
47:15
um same with the Alo fight we would have had Pon as a champion because he was
47:20
kind of like relying on the fact that pon couldn't hit him because he was on
47:27
one knee and he went boom you know he went for it he was like hey
47:34
you're open I'm going to KNE it so it it really would change
47:39
the just the flow of a lot of fights if you allowed that rule and I feel like it
47:44
is a weird one where you're literally trusting your opponent not to foul you
47:51
in order to stay safe I think that it's definitely a rule that needs to be changed but I think that there are other
47:58
issues that need to go and I feel like that's the judging I feel like across the board people need to unite with
48:04
their judging criteria um I feel like people just need
48:09
to be more uniformed across the commissions not just like oh this is our rules for this commission this is our
48:16
rule in Vegas this is our rule in Florida um because there are a lot of people that are again they're getting
48:22
licensed as well in certain States because the commissions are way more lenient and so they go to these states
48:29
they only fight in those States um there are less stringent rules with uh doping
48:34
testing in certain States so people tend to have fights there only fight there
48:41
there's just a lot of things across the board that I think need to be more uniform I I think that that's a really
48:46
you know good place to start I guess or you know something that needs to be
48:51
changed but I just think that there are more pressing issues it seems like it's the easiest one to attack right now
48:58
because those uh commissions are all with people who are grandfathered and
49:03
they all have connections with certain people and it's like it took so much to get Douglas Crosby out of there so much
49:11
so many violations so many people complaining about them uh Al jooe's
49:16
whole Camp complained about him and he was still judging for years you know so it it really does seem like the
49:23
commissions are like these da these Godfathers and it's hard for the states
49:30
to attack the commissions but they're like okay maybe we could change this rule maybe that'll give us some some
49:35
leeway into making further actions but I agree I would love for them to change judging because it doesn't make any
49:42
sense no you even had um what was it there was uh tiimo Lopez fought a boxing
49:49
match and I his opponent's name was escaping me but again people were commenting on the crazy judging like
49:57
craziness in boxing and I think one of um I mean he won the fight it was and that's where their grandfathered in from
50:03
boxing and and somebody made the comment one of one of the guys made a comment
50:08
like um like the sport was less crooked when the mob was running in it was a
50:15
quote like that basically and uh because one of like uh two judges had it one way
50:21
and then one judge had it like 117 to 111 which was it insane and completely
50:27
out a left field as far as the other judges had scored it they were they in alignment and this one was just kind of
50:34
out of left field so it's um yeah it just everything across the board needs
50:41
revamping yeah yeah for sure I say throw them all out yes out with the with the
50:48
them burn them the young eats the old let get a bunch of ticktockers to judge
50:53
fights oh my God stop it well I think it's time for our uh exclusive part we
51:01
have so much to talk about I think I want to talk about a couple fights on the prelims that really tickled my fancy
51:09
um and then you had some questions you want to answer right I did we had some people uh give me some questions that
51:16
they W answered on Instagram post so we'll be discussing those ones we'll see
51:22
you on the other side you better subscribe if you want to see on the other side [Music]
