In this video, Kate takes you up close with the Samsung S95H OLED and Samsung S90H OLED TVs, two of the most anticipated TVs of 2026. A standout feature has trickled down to the S90 model: Glare Free technology that makes ultra-reflective OLED TVs a thing of the past. With that in mind, how do the S95H vs. S90H stack up, and could you get away with buying the slightly more affordable S90H instead?

If you're thinking about buying a Samsung OLED TV this year, you might be about to overspend
0:05
because the new S95H has some pretty flashy upgrades. But the more affordable S90H also
0:13
got a pretty significant glow up. So the question I'm going to try to answer in today's video
0:18
is the S95H actually worth it or is the S90H the better buy? Let's break it down
0:24
okay so i am checking out the s95h here and i think the most obvious visual difference is this
0:36
metallic bezel that samsung calls the float layer i guess because it makes it look like the tv is
0:42
kind of floating off of the wall but just based on my observations i suspect it also was doing
0:48
something to kind of accentuate the glare free effect but i'll get back to that in just a little
0:53
bit. Another pretty big difference for this year's model. Samsung has been phasing out the One Connect
0:59
box even on the frame TVs, so instead we're having the four HDMI 2.1 inputs built into the TV
1:06
Optionally, you can add a zero One Connect box to expand from four HDMI 2.1s to eight HDMI 2.1
1:14
Is that overkill? Perhaps, but that is an exclusive feature to the S95H
1:19
speaking of exclusivity glare free used to be exclusive to the s95h glare free is kind of this
1:28
matte treatment to the screen borrowed from the frame series it's meant to diffuse ambient light
1:34
sources reduce glare and honestly samsung with glare free has kind of revolutionized the expectation that oled is always going to be glossy and ultra reflective now glare is on the S90H for the first time Pair that with the same 165Hz refresh rate you get on the S95H
1:55
and I don't know, you guys, those are two specs that matter a lot when making a TV purchase
2:01
And now you don't necessarily need to get the top-of-the-line option to still get these benefits
2:06
Perhaps where we will see a difference between the S90H and S95H is in picture performance, more specifically brightness
2:16
We measured Samsung's S95F from 2025 to hit about 2100 nits peak HDR brightness in a 10% window
2:26
Samsung ran some of its own tests with Calman, similar to what we do in our benchmarking
2:31
and it's measuring the S95H at around 2,800 nits. The S90H's brightness measurement, on the other hand, just shy of 1,600 nits
2:44
and now that will make a pretty big difference for daytime viewing. However, I would like to put that in context of what we tested on last year's S90F
2:53
it hit about 1100 nits in our testing. So assuming that our independent testing of the
2:58
S90H is in line with what Samsung has tested, we could be looking at about a 500 nits improvement
3:06
which is a pretty significant boost to brightness year over year. Okay, but all of that was just a snapshot of picture performance. Keep in mind
3:15
we can only do so much here in Samsung's controlled environment versus in our studio
3:19
But I want to touch on audio quickly because there is a spec difference that will probably
3:24
stand out to you if you looking at the two models side by side The S95H has 70 watt speakers while the S90H only has 40 watt speakers What does that mean The S95H will be louder but you guys you know what I going to say
3:40
If you're getting a TV like this, if you're ever getting an OLED TV, you're going to get a sound
3:45
bar, maybe a sub, maybe surround sound. So ultimately, I don't think that should be a deal
3:50
breaker for you, but you might want to consider getting Samsung brand speakers, soundbars, etc.
3:57
because then you could take advantage of a feature called Q-Symphony. Q-Symphony is the feature where
4:03
the TV speakers work with rather than be overwhelmed by your soundbar and rest of your sound system
4:11
Then we have UI, totally level playing ground between S95H and S90H. You guys know Samsung's
4:19
Tizen hasn't always been my favorite, but this year I'm starting to dig it. It feels very modernized
4:25
and I especially like this new menu bar up top here. In fact, we actually do have a difference
4:31
We have the Art Store now on Samsung OLED. Samsung has stopped gatekeeping Art Store on the frame TVs
4:38
It started with the Neo QLED or mini LED rollout and now it's on OLED and I think it looks pretty
4:45
great. ArtStore is Samsung's kind of version of turning your TV into a display piece when you're
4:52
not watching content. An ArtStore membership does, and don't quote me, cost about $100
4:59
but if you care about home aesthetics, I know I do, I find it well worth it, and it's just kind of a
5:05
nice touch, I would say, to this OLED, the S95H. I know a lot of you guys are going to disagree
5:12
but art store is take it or leave it Doesn matter You can have a membership or you cannot use it It really up to you But something I don love right now is Samsung TV remote It has too few
5:26
buttons. It feels kind of plasticky and honestly just doesn't match the more refined nature and
5:31
premium flourishes that we're getting with the S95H. You get the same exact one with the S90H
5:39
and even the step down S85H? Is it a deal breaker? No, but depending on your priorities when buying
5:46
a TV, that might be another reason to go S90 over S95. Is the S95H objectively a better TV
5:58
Totally. We didn't even dig too deep into accuracy and color reproduction in this video
6:03
but I'm still very confident that this thing is going to end up on a lot of best picks this year
6:07
It's definitely meant to feel like the premium flagship model of Samsung's OLED TV offerings
6:14
But if you're just talking pure value, the S90H is very attractive to me
6:19
Yes, the brightness difference is big, but there's more similar in features than not
6:24
So it's absolutely worth considering, especially if you're hoping for some savings
6:30
But now I have an important question for you guys. which of these two TVs would you like to see us get into our lab for testing first? Either way
6:39
be sure to give this a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel for more videos just like this one
6:44
Thanks for watching, guys. I will catch you next time
