0:00
hello you guys and welcome back to my
0:02
channel if you are new here my name is
0:04
heaven and I am a stay-at-home mom wife
0:08
and Homemaker I have a 4-year-old
0:10
toddler boy and I am currently pregnant
0:12
with baby number two we are expecting
0:15
our baby girl in July so today I decided
0:18
we're going to go ahead and get into a
0:19
little bit of nesting we're going to be
0:22
transforming our previous home school
0:24
room into a nursery for when the baby
0:26
comes and that's going to be a lot of
0:28
work so thought it would be fun to take
0:31
you guys along with me so that if you
0:33
have any upcoming home projects we can
0:36
maybe tackle them together or this will
0:38
give you an idea of you know how to do
0:40
it it doesn't really have to be that
0:42
difficult even if you're not a pro you
0:43
can still do it and get it done so this
0:46
is going to be part one of our Nursery
0:50
transformation I was very sad to see our
0:52
Homeschool Room go but we have already
0:55
been thriving in our new hes School
0:57
location so I'm not too too sad about it
1:01
so to get started I am just taking
1:03
things off of the wall I've already
1:05
began moving all of the furniture and
1:07
transitioning it to our new home school
1:10
location but now I just have little Noah
1:13
helping me get some things off the wall
1:15
he asked to do it I did not make him do
1:17
it I promise but we are just taking down
1:20
some of the shelving units and then I'm
1:23
also attempting here to get the face
1:28
plates for the outlets off of the wall
1:31
um this was definitely a headache
1:33
because that had been painted over so
1:36
the paint was kind of like covering the
1:38
grooves on where I needed to put the
1:40
drill and the screwdriver it had
1:42
actually been painted over like a few
1:44
times not just one so even after I got
1:46
the screw out of the outlet I still had
1:49
to kind of like go around the outlet
1:53
with the corner of like this little
1:56
paint scraper or whatever you call this
1:58
tool and just to and get the face plate
2:00
off the wall and once I did it it
2:02
actually damaged the wall a little bit
2:04
you know just because of how long it had
2:06
been on there and how old the paint was
2:08
so that was definitely a headache but
2:10
you know I got it off and once I got it
2:12
off I actually had to move on and do the
2:14
exact same thing to another you know
2:17
face plate so of course I'm not going to
2:19
be replacing this outlet cover I am just
2:22
going to remove it and then put another
2:24
one on here we have plenty in the
2:26
basement that are brand new that does
2:29
not have orange paint covering all over
2:32
it if you two are tackling a home
2:35
project with me or you have something
2:37
coming up I would love for you to
2:38
comment below and let me know what new
2:41
home projects you have coming up or what
2:45
new paint jobs or room transformation
2:47
you're currently working on because I
2:50
know we are now entering into the spring
2:52
season so for me you know that's
2:55
typically when I'm doing some home
2:56
updates and if you are the same then
2:59
definitely let me know I would love to
3:00
hear about it so after patiently taking
3:03
my time to get those outlet covers off
3:06
the wall I am now getting all of the
3:08
screws out of the walls to go ahead and
3:11
like spackle over them with a little bit
3:13
of spackle or I think I use like some
3:16
sort of quick set compound whatever my
3:18
husband had in the in the garage here's
3:21
what I had and again I'm no pro at this
3:24
I'm literally just like throwing it on
3:25
there over the hole just making sure I
3:27
get it inside of the hole so that
3:29
there's no hole in the wall and then
3:32
afterward I'll go back and sand it down
3:34
like it does not have to be pretty as
3:35
long as it gets inside the hole and
3:37
feels the hole I'll be just fine and I
3:40
made this a little bit thin so I made it
3:42
a little bit harder for myself so make
3:44
sure if you are doing something like
3:46
this don't make it too hard for yourself
3:48
and make it too thin so once that was
3:51
done I went ahead and started taping off
3:53
whatever I didn't want to paint which
3:55
really wasn't much because I kind of
3:57
needed to paint this whole room you guys
4:00
down to the closet the baseboards the
4:02
door shms everything needed a fresh coat
4:05
of paint and even this here vent that
4:09
I'm taping off needs a new Fresh coat of
4:11
paint but I need to clean it before I do
4:13
that so taping alongside the vent
4:16
because I need to clean it before I can
4:18
paint over it um and I'm actually just
4:21
going to probably end up replacing it I
4:23
haven't decided yet and then also taping
4:26
the window seals down so I don't get any
4:28
paint on the window Windows now I
4:30
actually started this sometime in
4:32
February so when I filmed this video
4:36
originally I was about 18 weeks pregnant
4:40
and now that I'm doing the voice over
4:41
for it I am currently just about 22
4:45
weeks pregnant so I do have like a small
4:48
baby bump like protruding out of the
4:50
shirt
4:52
embarrassingly but um 18 weeks was a
4:55
pretty good time for me to be doing this
4:58
because I know for a fact I'm not going
5:00
to be wanting to do this type of stuff
5:02
in the third trimester so if you are
5:04
currently working on a nursery project
5:06
or if you're pregnant or anything like
5:08
that I highly recommend doing this in
5:11
the second trimester because you're past
5:13
the whole first trimester like
5:15
uncomfortableness the nausea the super
5:18
exhaustion and things like that you're
5:21
also past when you know you are
5:23
currently still in that window of being
5:27
at risk for um like disc carage and
5:30
things like that so just waiting until
5:32
you're like past that stage and then
5:35
once you get like a little bit more of
5:37
your energy back in the second trimester
5:39
but you're not so huge and so big that
5:43
you don't want to move that's the
5:45
perfect time to do any of the hard stuff
5:47
so painting assembling any of the
5:49
furniture all the heart stuff do it in
5:51
the second trimester and then all of the
5:54
not so difficult things like doing
5:56
laundry maybe folding up um clothes
5:59
doing all of the cute like clothing
6:02
shopping maybe organizing the dressers
6:06
setting up postpartum stations things
6:08
like that are the type of things that
6:10
you do like later not not um like
6:14
painting and furniture assembly so yeah
6:16
I did this at about 18 weeks so after um
6:20
getting everything taped off I went
6:21
ahead and started doing the trim work um
6:24
or cutting it is what my husband calls
6:26
it like cutting which is where you go
6:27
around any of the hard to reach plac is
6:29
with the paint roller so like things
6:31
that you can't reach with the paint
6:33
roller are what you'll want to paint
6:36
first so I'm painting around the window
6:38
seals around the edges of like the doors
6:41
and the corners of the walls the bottom
6:43
of the floors the top like along the
6:45
ceiling because I know I'm not going to
6:47
be able to reach those places with my
6:50
paint roller so I did two coats of this
6:52
and I'm using a white paint um one can I
6:56
had like left over and then one can I
6:58
ordered from home defa online so that's
7:01
what I'm doing now just doing all of the
7:03
cutting around the edges I did two coats
7:06
so I did one coat and by the time I
7:08
finished the entire room the section of
7:10
the room that I originally started at
7:12
had you know kind of dried to where I
7:16
was able to go back and do a second coat
7:19
of cutting so I did have the windows
7:21
open very well ventilated so that it
7:24
could dry while I'm doing it but also so
7:27
that I'm not braving in any chemical
7:29
even though I made sure I bought a low
7:31
odor paint for the safety of the
7:33
pregnancy and you also see I have no
7:35
help of me he just wanted to do
7:37
something so I let him put a little bit
7:38
of paint on the closet door because I'm
7:40
going to paint that as well so I did
7:43
around all of the window sills the light
7:46
switch covers the outlet covers the
7:49
corners of the walls and the bottoms of
7:53
the wall and now you see I am doing the
7:56
top of the walls and this just makes it
8:00
to where when you're finally painting
8:01
it's going to go by so fast so now that
8:04
I'm kind of just letting that dry I'm
8:07
sanding down the areas of the wall where
8:10
I put spackle or quick set to get the
8:13
screw holes covered but you guys when I
8:16
opened up this paint that I ordered
8:19
online I'm 100% sure I ordered a pure
8:22
white and it shipped to me in like a
8:25
beige color like I I don't know what it
8:29
was it was like the color of my outfit
8:32
but it definitely wasn't white so I
8:33
literally had to stop go to the store
8:36
return that and get the color that I
8:38
need and it was getting pretty late at
8:39
night so now I'm back got the right
8:41
color this time and I also put on a mask
8:46
because now I know that the scent um
8:49
like the very light paint scent is going
8:51
to be just a little bit stronger because
8:52
I'm painting the entire room versus just
8:55
cutting alongside the edges so got my
8:57
mask on got the right color paint and
9:00
now I am painting the was so just you
9:05
know taking my time I have like the full
9:08
length extended pole for the paint
9:10
roller so that it's not too hard on my
9:12
back and this part is pretty straight
9:15
forward not difficult at all I have no
9:18
technique just putting paint on the
9:20
roller and going up and down now a step
9:23
that I skipped is sanding the entire
9:27
walls normally when I paint a room I
9:30
will sand the entire walls like of the
9:33
entire room but you guys I didn't feel
9:36
like it like I just didn't like I mean
9:39
I'm not in the third trimester of
9:40
pregnancy but even in the second
9:42
trimester it's like I'm a little bit
9:43
tired like not crippling but I'm a
9:46
little tired so I didn't care um as long
9:49
as you know the Ws looked cleaner they
9:52
looked fresh and they looked
9:55
brighter I was okay it wasn't no like
9:59
ter terrible imperfections that I really
10:01
really needed to sand over um this this
10:04
was just fine so I'm just putting paint
10:06
on the wall it is getting super late you
10:08
guys will see that it is dark outside by
10:11
now um it's it's pretty late so I'm just
10:14
trying to get the job done at this point
10:17
and I also still have like some
10:18
furniture in the room that might have
10:21
made it a little more difficult for me
10:23
to really move around cuz I had to keep
10:24
moving furniture out the way or like
10:26
getting around it trying not to knock it
10:29
over and things like that but like once
10:32
you get all of the hard stuff done which
10:34
is getting everything off the wall
10:36
filling all the holes sanding down the
10:38
holes and cutting around all of the trim
10:41
work and things like that then I feel
10:43
like the actual paint jab goes by so
10:45
much faster so I am also doing two coats
10:48
of this so just painting around the
10:50
first coat with the window open so that
10:52
can air out and look at that window look
10:54
at how dark it is started in the evening
10:57
cuz I got lots of other things as a Mama
10:59
to do cooking cleaning homeschooling you
11:03
know all that stuff so evening was the
11:05
best time for me to start but yes two
11:06
coats I did one coat all the way around
11:10
gave it a little bit of time to air out
11:11
and dry and then a second coat as well
11:15
and then I also did the same thing for
11:17
the closet door I'm going to show you
11:19
guys what it looks like like the
11:21
finished product of it once it had kind
11:23
of dried to touch so like not fully
11:26
dried I needed to let let it have like a
11:28
full 24 hours to dry and then I actually
11:31
closed the door and left the window open
11:33
for a few days so that I could fully you
11:35
know vent out and things like that but
11:38
I'll show you guys what the final looks
11:40
like after I completed all of the paints
11:42
a fresh white coat not very bright I
11:45
don't have any daytime light but you
11:47
guys once I open up those curtains in
11:49
the morning and the Sun comes through
11:51
the reflection of the walls is perfect
11:54
and exactly what I was going for so a
11:56
lot brighter and a lot more clean and I
11:58
kind of just hope you guys en enjoyed
12:00
the very first part of this Nursery
12:02
transformation and hope that you guys
12:03
will join me back for part two that sums
12:06
