Why Friends Almost Didn't Happen

It's hard to imagine a world where "Friends" didn't air, because the sitcom has become such a cultural touchstone that it's still quoted and referenced constantly today. Believe it or not, though, there were multiple hurdles that stood in the way of "Friends" happening, and the iconic main characters were almost played by very different actors. Just think — there could be a world without "We were on a break" or the Holiday Armadillo or the time Phoebe's brother married his high school teacher (alright, maybe we'd be better off without that one).
