I hope you are good good doing good good
0:03
all right well let's get started uh
0:05
first up is Jeremiah
0:07
Holloway good morning Hubert good to see
0:09
you hey Jeremiah yeah yeah um wanted to
0:13
ask about Drake obviously he's played uh
0:16
at the four a lot this year I know in
0:18
that second half the other day when Kade
0:20
and Withers was out there he played more
0:23
uh on the wing and he was able to kind
0:24
of get some shots to go uh I guess for
0:27
him uh you know I guess would you like
0:30
to see him you know almost play you know
0:32
more on the I know obviously he's a very
0:34
versatile guy he can kind of play in
0:35
different spots but uh would you kind of
0:37
like to see like more of that from him
0:38
you know just him being able to just
0:40
kind of slot in at
0:42
that well I I
0:44
mean you know I I thought I thought he
0:47
played really well against against Duke
0:51
um you know in in terms of like the
0:53
three and the four the the the the
0:58
biggest really the difference is from a
1:01
defensive standpoint you know in terms
1:04
of who you're defending but other than
1:07
that I you know since I became head
1:10
coach
1:11
I I've been pretty much a positionist
1:15
coach I
1:16
mean you know Harrison was out on the
1:19
perimeter and shot threes and came off
1:22
of ball screens and posted up and went
1:25
to the offensive glass and rebounded I
1:28
mean he did all that and so There's no
1:30
distinction of three you're out on the
1:33
perimeter for me and four you're in the
1:36
post on the Block and so
1:40
um you know whether you're at
1:44
the you know I and in terms of like
1:47
giving guys numbers it's just for
1:50
organization standpoints of I need you
1:52
in this spot at the beginning of the
1:54
play and I need you in this spot at the
1:55
end of the play and
1:57
so um whether somebody at the one to two
2:01
to three and the four I recruit I coach
2:04
and I play basketball players that can
2:06
make plays all over the court for sure
2:09
and to follow up on that uh what do you
2:11
think allowed him to you know kind of
2:14
get more looks in the second half he
2:16
seemed like he was you know probably
2:17
more aggressive you know down the
2:18
stretch what do you think kind of
2:19
allowed him to yeah you're right
2:20
Jeremiah he was he was more aggressive
2:22
and and and that
2:24
that's what I really liked about it and
2:27
that's what we need you know um
2:30
consistently for him uh to be aggressive
2:33
uh because he has an ability to um
2:36
create his own shot he has an ability to
2:38
get to the basket he's an excellent
2:40
passer he knows how to make the right
2:42
play um and when he's aggressive that
2:46
really helps us out as a team and um
2:50
it's something that I communicated to
2:51
him after the game and we continue to
2:54
communicate with him about him being
2:56
aggressive on the offensive end is is is
2:59
really good news for us thank
3:01
you go next to Michael
3:03
Co hey there Hebert good morning um hey
3:07
Michael thank you um you guys have a
3:09
week off before um you see pit again um
3:12
on
3:13
Saturday what is the week off schedule
3:16
look like for you guys as far as
3:18
practicing and Recovery maybe and do you
3:21
think the week off is coming at a good
3:24
time for this team after some difficult
3:26
losses in the past couple weeks yeah I
3:29
think it's coming at the perfect time I
3:31
think it's a time
3:32
where um give us to um regroup um we get
3:37
to
3:38
practice um and work on us as opposed to
3:42
preparing for a game
3:44
midweek um and get some guys healthy in
3:47
terms of some bumps and bruises I think
3:50
mentally we needed a break and you know
3:55
we'll we'll practice this week and then
3:57
we'll have a day off in the middle of
3:58
the week and I just think it it just
4:01
comes at a perfect time for us to
4:02
regroup as a team and refocus on the
4:05
things that we need to do in order to
4:08
get better and um for the outcomes to be
4:12
better and I just really believe that it
4:15
came at a perfect time uh to get this
4:17
week without a midweek game thanks
4:21
hbert uh K
4:23
Coons good morning
4:25
Hubert after after the game Saturday
4:29
your comments about being optimistic
4:33
about about your team's future got a lot
4:35
of uh play and I'm wondering what
4:39
specifically do you like about this team
4:41
and that you see a positive path forward
4:45
as far as NCA tournament and that kind
4:47
of
4:49
thing well I I just was communicating
4:52
that I love coaching this team and I
4:55
love coaching these kids and they come
4:59
every day
5:00
to bring their best and it's a group
5:03
that really enjoys being together it's a
5:06
group that really
5:08
enjoys being a team
5:13
and I love coaching them I don't know
5:16
what else to say other
5:20
than I like these kids I love
5:24
them thanks
5:27
you okay we'll go next to ride back
5:33
hey Hubert um with a week between games
5:37
what kinds of things are are you hoping
5:39
to tweak and change with this group to
5:41
to get them where you want them to be on
5:42
the court well I I you know the this is
5:47
what our team has been you know
5:51
we've you know we've been consistently
5:55
inconsistent
5:58
in you know know the details on on on
6:02
both ends of the floor that's that's
6:05
what that's what we've been and I've
6:07
been clear and Direct in regards
6:10
to the little things that you know that
6:13
I'm talking about it's you know shot
6:16
selection turnovers the last two games
6:18
teams have scored 41 points off of our
6:20
turnovers that's just that's just not
6:23
going to work that's just not
6:24
sustainable you know defensively you
6:26
know defending without fouling
6:30
boxing out those are things that those
6:33
are things that can be fixed and those
6:35
are things that we've talked about and
6:37
those are things that we have to
6:40
fix uh moving
6:43
forward go back to Jeremiah
6:46
Hollow uh Huber to go off of that when
6:48
you're you're mentioning the turnovers
6:50
uh from your opinion how much of the
6:52
turnovers are kind of a result of maybe
6:55
defense is like kind of kind of
6:57
telegraphing maybe what guys want to do
6:59
like do you think people do you think
7:00
defenses are like picking up on patterns
7:03
of the offense that you guys are are
7:05
playing no I I I think you know one of
7:08
the things that I say all the time is in
7:12
many different ways is you know making
7:13
the easy play Simple Works routine plays
7:17
routinely make routine plays
7:20
routinely
7:22
um you know um and I think our our
7:28
turnovers are a result of
7:31
not um making the easy play uh trying to
7:35
hit the Home Run um and those are things
7:38
that we have to do like in regards to
7:39
one-handed passes
7:41
or
7:43
um you
7:46
know those are the things that we've got
7:48
to do we've got to make simple sound
7:50
fundamental plays and when we don't
7:53
those are that is a result of of our
7:56
turnovers and those are things that we
7:58
have to address and have to get better
7:59
at right
8:02
now David
8:07
teal Hubert when you and your staff this
8:12
week get together will you hearken back
8:13
at all to
8:15
2022 when in late January you were 12
8:18
and six and four and
8:21
three and struggling and ended up in the
8:25
national championship
8:27
game um I won't communicate that with
8:31
the team
8:33
because you know the only person on the
8:36
team was
8:38
RJ
8:41
um but I do communicate with the team
8:45
on you
8:47
know irregardless
8:50
of where we are now and people's
8:53
opinions this team still has a chance
8:57
to achieve and experience everything
9:00
that this team wants to achieve and
9:02
experience we have nine more regular
9:04
season games left we have that we have
9:08
the ACC tournament and so like and it's
9:12
all under our control in terms of us
9:17
playing the best that we can be and
9:19
[Music]
9:21
um you know obviously um we made the run
9:25
to the national championship game my
9:27
first year um
9:31
but you know we still have an
9:34
opportunity to turn this season around
9:38
and we need to focus on becoming the
9:40
best team that we can possibly become
9:42
and at the end of the day live with the
9:46
results get one last Quick one in from
9:50
Cory good morning coach how you
9:52
doing good morning good morning what
9:55
challenges do you see Pittsburgh
9:56
presents to you and your staff give
10:00
they're a tough rugged team defensively
10:03
and they also have four players
10:06
averaging double figures and scoring
10:08
offensively yeah I mean they're they're
10:11
very physical they're tough defensively
10:13
um um they can really shoot the ball um
10:17
you know they they've got a number of
10:18
guys that could also create on their own
10:21
and be able to create shots for
10:22
themselves and for their teammates and
10:24
you know you mentioned before their
10:26
physicality and their toughness um
10:29
translates on the defensive end in
10:31
regards to rebounding and protecting the
10:33
pain and so you know it's always going
10:34
to be a battle against pit um whether
10:37
it's at their place or at our home and
10:39
we
10:40
understand um the physicality that we
10:44
have to bring in order to compete
10:45
against a really good uh Pittsburgh
10:48
team thank you coach you're welcome
10:50
thank you for the time as always we'll
10:52
