0:00
and that's the Oh my therapist way man we got the one and only David Weber here
0:05
he got that holistic approach to therapy oh my therapist what is that David Weber
0:11
that's my private practice uh based out of Atlanta Georgia um and so I started a couple years ago and uh I see individual
0:18
clients um and and and couples yeah it is man speaking of which man you got a potential client from Queens right now
0:25
we got Felix on the line and we're asking people to call up about your relationships if you're in a long-term relationship is it necessary to even get
0:32
married are you dating online what your experience has been like what does it mean to date online right and is it okay
0:39
that you don't date at all felix on the line right now from Queens what up Felix
0:45
what up man love that name hey what's up y'all jason how y'all doing ding great dj
0:54
Felix uh Mr david Weber um so just getting out
0:59
of a long-term relationship uh just recently now it's been a year uh post uh
1:06
long-term relationship so the question is that after this year relationship you
1:12
know I'm trying to figure out or rediscover me as an individual but you
1:18
know there's a lot of old habits you know obviously a lot of realignment you
1:24
know but I kind of wanted to pick your brain about it just like what are like the habits or like the mindsets that
1:30
kind of help you during this navigating through this healing process or posty yearlong uh I guess you could say long-
1:37
term relationship you could say yeah great question um so how well do
1:44
you take care of yourself just generally speaking um now um it's been a definitely a huge
1:52
shift i think in 2025 I think there's just been a lot of reset for myself um
1:58
lot of uh realignment so now I guess it's been like a six months uh rejourney
2:03
or rediscovery journey so what is it June yeah so in the beginning of the year so just as a refund
2:10
okay all right i would I would I would continue in that process i think it's really hard to be in relationship when
2:16
we haven't healed whatever it's from either childhood trauma we haven't healed or disappointment from other
2:22
people we haven't healed or have you been ever ever been cheated on before maybe you haven't healed it's really
2:28
hard to be whole and ready for someone else in a relationship if you haven't fully healed and loved yourself fully
2:34
and I think a lot of us struggle with loving oursel if we're being honest right like you're much more likely to take care of someone else than you are
2:40
to take care of yourself so when's the last time you've got a massage when's the last time you've got a facial when's
2:45
the last time you got your nails done when's the last time you've done things for yourself there's certain goals you may have for weight loss whatever it may
2:52
be and you keep pushing it back pushing it back pushing it back so it's hard to give yourself fully to someone else when
2:58
you're not fully engaged with yourself you're not fully you know um committed to yourself so I would say full
3:05
commitment to myself whatever that looks like whatever my goals are if it's going back to school if it's losing weight whatever that may be and if I'm taking
3:11
care of me then I'm able to be whole for someone for someone else full commitment and and it does that I mean everybody
3:18
healing process is different but for what amount of time minimal would you
3:24
suggest out of a a long-term relationship if I
3:29
haven't healed I I I would need at least six months to a year before I'm dating someone else there you go okay six
3:37
months to a year you hear that Felix so you right on track brother all right yay thank you guys for being here
3:44
[Laughter] all right Felix you're a super citizen man way in the morning all right we got
3:49
uh Scott on the line from New York uh school from Newark sorry about that Felix what's good scoop scoop school
4:02
scoop out hey Heather I'mma scoot on over and give him a citizenship in the
4:08
morning scoop school scoop scoop school i love y'all man i love y'all y'all y'all are so inspirational man i love
4:14
y'all show but uh yeah information just coming home from prison and um about a
4:21
year ago and I got married in prison um and now I'm home and it's just like a different story it's like a lot of lies
4:27
a lot of deception and I just like you know just ready to I'm just ready for this to be over with man got a lot
4:34
of good things going on like a lot of distractions and it just feel like who's doing the lying and deceiving who's
4:41
doing the lying and deceiving the the wife that I married when I was in prison the wife that I married when I was in prison and now that I'm home it's just
4:47
like a lot of distraction yeah so it feels like it's kind of like you know pulling me back
4:54
ah um uh what kind of lying are we talking
4:59
an example of a lie about like just small lies you know addiction uh
5:05
drinking you know things that were already supposed to be handled before I came home and now I'm coming home and
5:11
the same things and avoidance and just you know just not trying to take ownership of different things she been
5:17
acting you know she been presenting herself one but it was very supportive when I was down i'm not going to take it
5:22
away when I was down very supportive you know very there you know doing a very a lot of things you know to help support
5:29
me my family when I was away you know a lot of solid things so that's that was really what was really holding me
5:35
because when I was in need was there and was solid but now that I'm home it's just a different story and I'm just trying to figure it out
5:42
i'm going to let Dave jump in he's actually the pro i just sound like one all right
5:48
scoop uh have you let me ask you this knowing that she's been liing and lying
5:54
and deceiving have you all confronted this and have you tried to work on a
5:59
plan to rectify it and get her on track yeah but nothing it'll start off strong
6:06
it'll start off strong you know we attended a couple of meetings got a couple of books but it it dies down
6:11
pretty fast within a month is you know it's just not a priority you know so I
6:16
just got to you know I have to pick and choose you know I can't really afford to be distracted and set back another 10
6:22
years because somebody's not really trying to get with the program or or be the best like I'm working on I'm giving
6:27
the best version of myself right now and I just refuse to accept anything less from anybody else you know
6:34
okay thanks for for calling in i will say this um in terms of marriage
6:40
whenever I'm dealing with people who are married it's a little bit different than people who are just dating or something like that and so I try to exhaust all
6:47
possibilities when they're married and so have you tried marriage counseling
6:53
no I haven't okay i I would I would encourage you to try it it doesn't mean
6:59
it's going to fix it it doesn't mean things are going to get better they may get worse but because you're married I
7:05
would just give it a try before I said "You know what i'm done it's over with." Right um just because you know anytime
7:12
you're making any big decision I think you have to um think of the scripture that says be anxious for nothing you
7:17
have to slow down right you have to you have to slow down and say you know what what's the best decision let me exhaust
7:23
all the possibilities before I make this big decision and go my separate way um and so I would try marriage counseling
7:29
give it two or three months if it's not working then you make the best decision you can for yourself i appreciate you i
7:35
love your show man very supportive very helpful to the community i love you guys thank you thank you man all right hey
7:40
man and you get a chance follow David on Instagram david Weber_LPC
7:46
no doubt tell him we sent you he'll talk with you Scoop all right all right thank you man thank you i really appreciate
7:51
you david Sway Heather everybody man i love y'all thank you i love that hey
7:57
Scoop we proud of you too brother stay up man stay stay on your path no matter what man you're a super citizen swing
8:04
man we going to come back heather B got a question for you too yeah matter of fact let's present the question and then
8:10
citizens who can relate to it can call up as well really quickly someone who works with Sways Universe Christy B did
8:15
an amazing event this past weekend it was her 8th annual music and media event and so many citizens uh people from the
8:22
LA area so many artists showed up David actors performers and a lot of the
8:27
questions asked to me was "When do you give up you I've been trying so long for
8:33
my dream to come true i've been trying to have my vision realized and I feel like I hit a wall how do I know to keep
8:39
going when do you give up and I'm wondering if you can help maybe some people that's listening today some
8:45
citizens calling up maybe they've been on a path to purpose a path to their big dream and just feel like they keep
8:51
hitting walls should they give up or when do you give up 888 742 3345 that's
8:58
next yeah man he's here man follow him easily david Weber_LPC
9:07
where else can you get free advice from a man who got a his degree in clinical
9:12
mental health counseling from Northwestern University master's degree some master's degree this ain't the for
9:20
the faint of heart of higher education here northwestern is one of those tops
9:25
what What are they ranked i don't know what they're ranked but it was hard though
9:32
and so Heather the question is uh listen when do you give up when do you quit uh
9:37
so many of us uh are searching for our dream job our dream journey our dream lifestyle a lot of people who I met this
9:44
past weekend Dave at the 8th annual music and media event hosted by Chrissy B by the way she did a phenomenal job
9:50
with hosting this but afterwards and even during the conversation that her and I had there were so many people
9:57
asking me about my journey why didn't I give up when do you give up what made me
10:02
to continue to go on when I face obstacles even being here at radio you know the challenges that I faced the
10:08
challenges in music film television what made me continue to go on and I looked in the eyes of a lot of people
10:15
afterwards David and so many people were hurt and broken inside i saw a lot of
10:20
sadness there were tears there were people looking for another word of encouragement there were people who
10:25
spent a lot of money already trying to chase their dream and their passion and didn't feel like that they uh have
10:32
gotten what in return what they they wanted and so it's been tough for a lot
10:37
of folks and I'm just wondering is there a point where you should give up if if you met with like maybe you
10:44
know a hundred nos possibly i remember the first year I went out to audition for commercials um I literally
10:53
got no from February until December of the same year and I did not book a job
10:59
until December of that year but every single audition was a no yeah every single one i kept going because I felt
11:06
like that's where I needed to be yeah i I think purpose is is huge and let me
11:12
break it down real quick so um sometimes people have these like you know it's not
11:18
really their purpose that don't really want it they kind of playing around with it it's something idea that came in their head but they're not really
11:25
focused on it i'm not talking about those people okay i'm talking about people where it's heavy on you there's
11:30
certain things that are heavy on you maybe you've wanted to write a book and it's been on your mind for 26 years
11:35
right to write the book right that means it's heavy on you so go after it like you can't shake it you can't shake it
11:41
even when you want to shake it there are certain things you just for whatever reason since you were 17 since you were
11:46
25 you wanted to do blank and it's been heavy those people I say never give up
11:52
and also to to to watch the distractions because there's also distractions so one
11:57
of the distractions I had so I played college basketball at Central Michigan University i did pretty well um there i
12:03
was um all-American there and did really good my goal was to go to the NBA that was the only goal I ever had in my life
12:09
at that time and so um I had someone talk me out of going overseas at the
12:16
time and continuing to pursue my dream because I didn't get drafted and so I was crushed and I had someone talk to me
12:23
like you know maybe it's not for you right now and this and that and for the first time in my life I started to
12:29
believe someone else's story about me and and I didn't I didn't do it and so after I got hurt and I just like I kind
12:36
of gave up in in a way and I was like 24 years old i retired at 24 so I only played like two years professionally um
12:42
in some professional leagues in the States and that was it and that's one of my biggest regrets in life is letting
12:48
someone else talk me out of it right um and so distractions are huge my brother
12:53
right now is getting distracted by some fake some fake news right now right and I'm talking Yeah he's getting Yeah he
13:00
got some secret babies supposedly i guess that you know so I guess he somebody claimed they had a baby by him
13:05
yeah he has a baby a secret baby a secret baby and violated trust with teammates and
13:12
stuff it's the stupidest dumbest thing ever but we talked to I'm like yo it's a distraction amen you got to be like
13:19
don't get cuz he got some stuff some big time stuff coming up so you already know the devil working right so it's like
13:25
don't get distracted by so there's some of you out there right now who you have goals and now your boyfriend three years
13:32
ago starting to hit you up again you know you ain't supposed to be talking to him no more you know you know he's a
13:38
distraction but now he pulls you back in in just a little bit right he pulls you
13:43
back in and now you off track now you're off your track so I would say never give
13:49
up right like for me personally don't give up if it's heavy if it's part of
13:54
your purpose but also be aware of the distractions be aware of them late night text messages that that's a distraction
14:01
wow we got Jay on the line from Tennessee speaking of distractions Jay welcome to the show what's up Jay jay hi
14:08
hi hi good morning hey hey hey Jay hey Jay you want to chime in what What's
14:14
going on with you yeah I just I kind of have a question it's It's very very
14:21
complex but I'm going to keep it as simple as I can my husband is a physician he works around a lot of
14:26
females and I feel like he's trying to make me jealous like he always makes statements
14:32
like "Oh they're looking at my crotch oh they know that I um we didn't do it last night because I'm on hard or things like
14:39
that." Wow i I I don't like it whoa but he I I don't like it either of ever
14:46
cheating yeah you don't You know what yeah i don't
14:52
think of ever cheating and we got together very young and I think it's just immaturity but I don't
14:58
know it sounds to me that you know sometimes we we we fish for certain things like we
15:06
fish for compliments fish for affirmation um fish for love or whatever it may be
15:11
i'm not certainly not saying this is your fault or you're not doing something what I'm saying is perhaps he has a need
15:19
from you that he doesn't have the words to express like "Hey baby tell me I'm you know tell me I look good today tell
15:25
me you like my outfit tell me I'm smart tell me whatever it may be." And so sometimes we do these fishing
15:30
exhibitions where we try to get something out of someone else instead of just expressing it um and I mean I've
15:38
done it to be honest with you i did the little fishing thing like trying to get trying to get the person to affirm me
15:43
especially when I'm having moments of insecurity and whether he's a physician or something else we have insecurities
15:49
all the time right doctors have insecurities lawyers have insecurities and so maybe trying to and you perhaps
15:55
you already do but maybe trying to affirm him tell him more often how much you appreciate him giving him the words
16:01
of affirmations uh that that it sounds like he wants from you because why else would he tell you about that even if it
16:07
was true why else would he tell you about that unless he was looking for something from you
16:13
right okay all right thank you does that make sense okay yeah it does you good with that him and I both are mental
16:20
health professionals so I've been trying to dig in there myself but I just can't get there
16:26
perhaps that's it okay call back keep us posted i was going to add to it but I'm
16:31
not let's keep us posted all right and then you can hit up David Weber at David Weber_LPC
16:38
okay all right thank you okay thank you toxic with your chess game right there
16:44
yeah man that's what I Yeah it does but at the same time like when I'm when I'm
16:50
doing sessions like you'll be surprised what people do for attention for love
16:56
what they'll say the manipulation they'll make up stuff to get the person jealous because where they they really
17:02
want a hug like you know as a man or as a woman you walk in from a long day and you want the person to say "I'm proud of
17:07
you i see what you're doing for the family." And if you don't get stuff like that or or it feels like you don't get
17:12
that you start doing these these weird things to get it from that person so I'm not surprised right at at all but it it
17:20
is it's still it's unfortunate but I'm not surprised d question follow up on that she said she mentioned that she
17:27
doesn't suspect suspect him of cheating in those instance in instances does that
17:33
open up the potential to cheat or to be vulnerable to doing the act like if
17:40
you're always flirting with like the females and and fishing for the compliments does that open up it
17:46
definitely can yeah for sure for sure um so it's a it's a dangerous game at the
17:53
same time I'm not saying it's right i don't think it's right at all i just I understand it i understand when have you
17:59
all heard of the mass laws hierarchy of needs y and like at the bottom is like um water food and shelter um but like we
18:08
all have a need to be loved right and so we'll do whatever we got to do to get
18:13
that need met sometimes we'll get it from someone else which is wrong sometimes we'll search and fish to get
18:19
it from the person that we want to be with but but it's it's a it's an essential need to our lives and so we do
18:26
all types of weird things to get it okay we got uh we got Demetrius on the line he has a question he's going through a
18:32
divorce he's in Texas and um he needs some guidance demetrius
18:37
welcome to the show hey Demetrius hey guys what up D okay what can you share with
18:44
us about the Oh doing great man thanks for your call brother appreciate you man
18:50
what can you share with us okay well take your time D take your time man you
18:55
see any good games this weekend all right um I like that d how how long were
19:01
you married uh seven years seven years what can you tell us about
19:07
the marriage why divorce well uh not really support us
19:15
i uh developed uh still emotional
19:28
i developed uh some heart issues kidney issues and
19:33
I don't know various things that uh weren't met with any type of sport and
19:39
uh gave a lot for the family and uh
19:44
eventually I uh stepped out to find um other means of support let's just say
19:52
and that's really what it came down to and uh
19:57
I think it was just really upset because just felt like I had to go through
20:03
everything alone in order to even be here days
20:10
and uh you know I've been through uh wars and military and all kind of stuff and it just
20:18
reached the breaking point that you know for me to make it I needed
20:24
some kind of support that was there continuously cuz she didn't know how to
20:30
do it or wanted to and all I got was
20:35
comparisons against other relationships and things she had in the past and uh it would just stay in my mind
20:42
and go through all these heart issues and you know congestive heart failure and all kinds of crap that all just
20:49
happened in the last five six years
20:55
and trying to show my pain was uh
21:00
wasn't received i mean I come home and don't touch me don't come near me trying to tell you pick and choose when you
21:06
want to be talked to or talked or touched so I would wind up buying things for or doing things for to try to
21:13
replace that ultimately I feel like I wasted all
21:19
these years with someone that uh really didn't care
21:25
and I know you know I wrong by stepping out but wasn't aroused by these people i just really wanted somebody there at the
21:32
hospital at the visits you know helping me through this you know
21:38
but I mean I don't have family so that kind of
21:45
set out but trying to get past it it's been a
21:50
been an ordeal let's just say i'm not mad at the relationship i'm just mad at
21:55
what I went through so that's it really hey man that Well
22:04
that's not it that's a that's a lot man and I want to say I commend you for
22:09
opening up with us today and even sharing this that takes a lot of strength and that shows that um you're
22:16
looking for answers and you're reaching out and so a lot of times when we need answers we don't reach out we
22:22
internalize it and then we combust you know and so I want to say thank you for
22:27
sharing this story with us Demetus and you came at the right time on the right day because we got David Weber here who
22:34
I'm sure could offer you some insight yeah um first off I want you to hit me up personally i want to speak to you off
22:41
um off the show uh hit me up at David Weber_LPC i can hear the pain in your voice man i
22:49
can hear the pain in your voice and the thing about men in particular is we have difficulty expressing our pain
22:57
because of the fear of judgment the fear of not being deemed strong um and we're
23:04
supposed to be tough right and so when someone is when you can feel their pain
23:09
in that way that means they're going through it even more than you can than we can understand and so I I hear the
23:15
pain and I acknowledge that i want to help you personally so please hit me up
23:22
um I would I would say I would say this that although what you did was wrong I
23:30
understand why you did it that you were looking for something searching for something and had a need for something
23:39
and you wasn't getting that need met at home and I promise you there are more men and women just like you who aren't
23:46
getting what they need at home and so how do you get what you need when you're
23:51
not getting it from another person when they're not providing that thing for you
23:56
how do you get that for yourself and so that's what I want to talk to you about so please give me give me give me um hit
24:02
me up on Instagram okay okay thanks and and and then what I did Demetrius I just
24:08
texted um I just texted David your number cool okay so he could hit you
24:14
directly i'm not even sure if you're on if you're on um Instagram but socials yeah but but I also want to tell you now
24:21
man okay don't worry he got your number too um you you have to do what one of the
24:29
other callers who called need to do he was coming out of a relationship and David gave him some advice that I think
24:35
is transferable um that you put you first start putting you first you know dealing
24:41
with your illnesses i know you don't want to do it alone um but sometimes counting on people um can lead to
24:47
disappointment that you can't use that have another heart attack to be honest
24:52
yeah well that's what I'm saying so stop counting on folks count on you count on your belief your faith in God um and and
25:00
and live clean moving forward you know and do those things you're supposed to do with the conditions you have they
25:07
don't define you these are just conditions that you're going through that you're going to have to work through and get to the other side and
25:14
see what glory is bringing to your life yeah the fact that you here you on this phone and you talking about your life um
25:20
you still got life brother so this ain't a this ain't a sentence this ain't a a
25:26
prison sentence on you you know what I mean you're not going to be imprisoned with these conditions you learn to adapt
25:32
adjust live with them and then use them as superpowers because what you go through and what you learn from it and
25:39
how you grow from it others can learn from it and grow from it right as long as you're continuing to share man um
25:46
thank you for your service to this country right and all that you been through but we got more life to go
25:52
Demetus okay we got more life brother man you a super citizen man give it up
25:58
for this guy god bless you it's way in the morning my hero right now man like a gladiator wow you know what I mean thank
26:06
you David for that i just texted you his information you follow up with him yeah I will absolutely hit hit him up you
26:12
right low key you got some therapy you know low key so
26:17
you got No no no no you got some You got some You You were 100% right just then
26:23
you got some Yeah you got some great technique like you were You were 100% right he has to pour into himself mhm
26:28
for sure but I like the way you you explain that i think that was great that's and that's that's I don't even have a degree yeah but but what do you
26:34
think i should go yeah just go back that was great dr sway there you go what you guys think dr ted Ted Lamb you think so
26:42
can you give me a Northwestern dude no okay all right all right
26:48
all right man and what what led us to this conversation heather B was on a panel discussion this weekend yeah man
26:54
chrissy B uh part of Sways Universe did an amazing job citizens and David Weber
26:59
with her music and media 8th annual music and media event i was on the panel to discuss and a lot of questions that I
27:05
had on stage and offstage privately was when do you give up when do you know
27:11
that it's time to give up or why haven't you given up during your journey um in this industry and so I just felt it was
27:18
necessary to people hear your voice and and and talk about giving up or when to give up
27:24
we have Chrissy B online with us right now ladies and gentlemen chrissy B is on
27:31
what's up what's up hey hey i know I sound like Barry White right now give me some grace
27:37
but I'm here good morning that's your real voice Chrissy no come on my weekend
27:43
voice okay okay your weekend voice congratulations tell tell tell everyone
27:49
the name of the platform i saw a lot of lot of clips online this weekend how did it go oh my god I'm so fulfilled when
27:57
you're talking about walking in your purpose um I'm so overwhelmed with joy uh I feel
28:05
relieved for one but you know this year of course marked uh year eight so this
28:10
year was the eighth annual music and media i started this platform in 2017
28:16
and yeah man I'm just so so so overwhelmed i think that's the perfect
28:21
word for it because I'm just I've been crying all weekend just because it the room touched so many people i didn't
28:27
realize how impactful this platform has been to so many um from the panelist to
28:32
you know recognizing a pillar in my eyes and to so many people in music and media chuck Dizzle um I gave him and presented
28:39
him a city of Los Angeles award from uh district 10 out here in Los Angeles from Heather Hut his entire family was there
28:46
his kids his mom his father passed away that we did include his father and this
28:52
tribute video I did for him his you know his family from Vegas and other states so it was beautiful i'm just again I'm
28:59
just so overwhelmed and fulfilled that I could have been able to pull off another
29:04
year wow that's amazing what is it called music and media
29:12
okay music and media and your special guest keynote speaker was who oh of
29:17
course the one and only Heather B come on yes sir thank you for having me
29:22
again Chrissy jerseyy's finest we had the Go Talk and Heather recreated this
29:29
name or changed this name to God over all things so she left us with that the
29:35
Go Talk is now God over all things and oh my god I was up there boohooing i'm like "Okay let me get to this discussion
29:40
with Miss Heather B." But she touched us in so many ways um like again my heart
29:46
is just so full so full so many gems she gave us so much history going back to 20 25 years so many people were just
29:53
grabbing her left and right and Heather shout out to you thank you so much for being so personable that means so much to me that you know you stick around you
30:00
shake hands you hug everybody i mean you filled the room so much you inspired me so I have a battery in my back now it's
30:06
go time it's always been go time for me but I got this extra battery in my back so thank you again i appreciate you and
30:12
love you so much well well thank you and it wasn't my intention you know goat
30:18
talk we obviously know we we adapted that from ll who came up with the ne the acronym greatest of all time but the
30:25
Lord literally touched me while I was on stage with Chrissy and said "God over all things i am over everything i am the
30:33
GO i'm over everything." And I couldn't help but to share that like he literally I was about to say something and it just
30:39
came you know it just spilled out to the room and so I accepted that and I was obedient to share that so you could take
30:46
it it wasn't mine it came from him so y'all do what y'all want to do with it but it was great and the people
30:51
afterwards uh you know we all need pouring into man and we all need to hear that word every day to keep going and to
30:58
keep moving forward and keep going on i'm hearing these callers Chrissy and I'm sure you did too about these spouses
31:04
dealing with a lot we had Kadine and Dval Ellis here on Friday and one of the things I think a lot of people don't
31:10
understand because Chrissy asked me about my marriage and I think one of the things we touched on is that you know
31:16
your spouse may come home with a bad day but your spouse don't know you had a bad day too you know like your spouse may
31:23
need comforting but the spouse that you with may not know how to comfort you so
31:28
they haven't dealt with their issues before even getting into the marriage you know a girlfriend is not the same as
31:34
a wife a boyfriend is not the same as a husband you know it's it's so many steps and levels to this so you looking for
31:40
comfort from somebody who has not matured enough to even know how to give
31:45
you comfort and but the answer is not to quit in the middle of it you know get
31:50
the counseling like you said David so I encourage some put you you know put yourself first sometimes and go get the
31:56
help that you need to maintain these strong partnerships it's a beautiful thing when it actually works it's a be
32:02
and you do the work for real absolutely chrissy B I'm super proud of you you out here getting it riding around and
