Tekitha & Rza’s Daughter Prana Supreme Diggs Talk About Their Country Music Group ONE The Duo
Apr 3, 2023
In 2014, Tekitha held incredible jam sessions in her home, bringing together an array of talented artists for a night of collaboration and creativity. Her daughter, Prana Supreme Diggs, was a regular attendee, singing her heart out alongside accomplished musicians, poets, rappers, and visual artists. After one particularly mind-blowing jam, the young performer approached her mom with a game-changing idea: "What if we started writing and singing our own songs together?" And so began a dynamic mother-daughter musical collaboration that continues to inspire and captivate audiences to this day.

they were ever able to produce this
0:05
beautiful young star named Prana and so
0:09
um the mother to Keith is the mother and
0:12
she's the daughter and they have a
0:14
mother-daughter duel they're the Supreme
0:16
mother-daughter dude of country music
0:19
and I want to welcome them to the shop
0:22
[Applause]
0:25
thank you yes and if they happen to walk
0:29
in with a hip-hop Juggernaut I don't
0:32
even know how this came to be I was like
0:34
shocked to see him
0:39
everybody forget a career you see them
0:43
all over the hip-hop documentaries
0:45
outside campaigning
0:48
rising to the top the Supreme Team
0:51
documentary my man um big horse
0:54
Heather's life partner and husband
0:56
speaks highly of man I hear the stories
0:58
that didn't make the documentary and all
1:02
the things you've done and so I it's
1:03
great to see this this tent this
1:06
triumphant no pun intended brought
1:09
together so how did the mother-daughter
1:12
duel start man that's that's the story
1:15
um funny enough I'm the one who started
1:18
the duo actually a lot of people when
1:19
they hear him doing music with my mom
1:21
they assume she's dragging me around
1:22
town doing shows but it's very much the
1:25
opposite
1:26
um mom used to host these huge jam
1:28
session parties at our house and she
1:30
would always let me you know express
1:32
myself freely and we would freestyle
1:33
something together usually singing I
1:35
don't rap I want to get that on the
1:36
record right now but don't you rap to
1:39
keep of course she drops me I skipped me
1:42
somehow that's that's what happens we
1:44
have two of that and then it just
1:46
completely evaporated inside of me so
1:47
anyway
1:48
um I I come to Mom like the morning
1:51
after one of these jam sessions and I go
1:52
to her and I'm like Yo dude and that's
1:55
literally how I talk to my mama called
1:56
her bro and do it all the time okay and
1:58
I'm like we should sing and write our
2:00
own songs together like professionally
2:02
and she says no with zero hesitation
2:05
she's like no why and I did throw a
2:09
temper tantrum not a proud moment as a
2:11
14 year old I've never done that mind
2:13
you I'm just not like an emotional
2:15
person and so but I just took her no to
2:18
heart I was like she's attacking my
2:20
character she thinks I'm not good enough
2:21
to work with her the drama of it all
2:23
yeah I am dramatic I'm not emotional but
2:25
I am dramatic
2:26
um and eventually we we sit down and
2:29
talk and I of course have the privilege
2:30
to have two parents that have been in
2:32
the industry and so I know what it is
2:34
like truly for young girls that just
2:36
want to make music and their Starry item
2:38
people take advantage of that
2:39
unfortunately so I knew my mom would
2:41
protect me from that because she this is
2:43
her career this is what she's been doing
2:45
it's what she was always going to do she
2:46
doesn't need to live through me for that
2:48
and then also I've been calling my mom
2:51
my best friend since I was 10 years old
2:53
and I feel like at 14 every 14 year old
2:55
wants to hang out with their best friend
2:57
all day it just so happened that mine
2:58
was my mom and so wow yeah and now and
3:02
now we we made our way to Nashville by
3:05
by happenstance really just wanted to
3:08
explore music freely and not have any
3:10
preconceived notions of what we should
3:12
be as a group and Nashville allowed us
3:14
to do that and we kind of fell into
3:17
country music it wasn't a purposeful
3:19
thing we knew we wanted our music to
3:21
feel like sitting on the front porch
3:23
with us or like you're hanging out in
3:24
our living room and that along the way
3:27
the Nashville Community started to tell
3:28
us nah you guys are doing country music
3:30
or not you're doing Americana and at
3:32
first we were like yeah whatever you
3:34
want to call it but by it having that
3:37
label on it allowed us to dig into the
3:39
history of country music and realize
3:41
just how much black people have been a
3:43
part of the fabric of it and like most
3:45
things in America we got written out
3:47
along the way yeah and so people like
3:49
Charlie Pride and uh Terry Callier and
3:52
even Ray Charles who most people of
3:54
course we know him as you know r b and
3:57
soul but he had an album called modern
4:01
songs
4:02
in country and western music I suggest
4:05
everyone listen to that because it is
4:07
instrumental in what country music
4:09
became and what it is today and so these
4:11
are these are the things that whenever
4:12
you hear black people I was like I love
4:14
every genre except for Country I'm like
4:16
no don't say that you gotta love country
4:19
too because it's us it's us just as much
4:21
as hip-hop is now
4:23
um you do have two parents in the
4:26
industry and I see your dad your dad was
4:28
here last week
4:31
yeah go yeah and uh does he stay keep
4:34
his
4:35
Keepers do you tap into him or yeah well
4:37
and he keeps his distance in terms of
4:39
like music yeah yeah in terms of the
4:42
music he does he's just like observing
4:44
from the outside we send him everything
4:45
of course and that's always been a big
4:47
like pat on the shoulder for me as my
4:49
dad never has any notes when I send him
4:51
the music that's huge if you know
4:53
British
4:54
he's gonna have a note yes and it's
4:57
because he's a perfectionist like me and
4:59
like Mom so I get it but it is always
5:01
like one of those things where I show
5:02
him and I'm like scared I'm like oh God
5:04
what is he gonna say I need to change
5:05
and he never says anything he's always
5:07
just like you're doing it you're doing
5:09
it so yeah he's a girl Dad
5:13
we all just sucker
5:17
to Keith when she's was talking about
5:20
singing on all these Hooks and being in
5:22
the studio and not necessarily always
5:25
getting credit you've been on a lot of
5:27
different tracks yeah can you name some
5:29
of them that people may not realize I
5:31
mean impossible is on the double CD at
5:33
Wu-Tang forever
5:34
um Second Coming was on that record as
5:36
well I did uh black boy with capadana
5:40
all I got is you I did as well but the
5:44
story behind that
5:45
um was more so like a background kind of
5:47
story I still got a feature in credit
5:49
but MCA I think had Mary J Blige at the
5:52
time she's on she's on the version on
5:53
the record the original version and they
5:56
wouldn't let her release it as a single
5:57
with ghost so they came to me and was
5:59
like yo you got to do this record I said
6:00
come behind Mary J Blige and I'm like I
6:02
love her you know it's like a big fan so
6:05
I was like I can't do it I don't I don't
6:06
want the pressure they're like what you
6:07
mean you're like let's get it so that's
6:10
another record that I'm on as well I
6:12
mean every every album except for uh the
6:15
year that she was born was the only
6:17
record that I haven't been on in the
6:18
Wu-Tang ecosystem if you will you hear a
6:21
little bit of all I need issues okay all
6:24
that I got is you oh gosh really
6:28
you got it
6:31
looking for the key ah no no
6:36
all that I got is you
6:39
and I'm so thankful you made it through
6:49
so this is what I want to do because I I
6:52
citizen chance was like told me you guys
6:54
she said hey man would you want to have
6:56
one to do along you know black they
6:58
didn't tell me all the details he just
7:00
told me two black women in country music
7:02
yes bring them up yeah they got a new
7:04
song okay I can at least Play the song
7:06
right yeah right
7:10
and so I'm gonna play the song but then
7:12
when y'all got it I was like wait a
7:14
minute he didn't tell me we know each
7:15
other and then I was like yo that's my
7:17
niece you know uh but can y'all do
7:20
something acapella absolutely okay and
7:22
then maybe you could jump in at when
7:24
they're done with a uh with a you know
7:27
some yeah some stance we're going into
7:30
overtime citizens
7:32
okay and then you just fill it out when
7:34
they're done you just roll in you cool
7:36
with that yeah all right and then you
7:38
improvise I see you just getting water
7:40
okay
7:44
okay
7:50
Rebecca we have called 16.
7:53
I'll give it to you depending on how
7:54
y'all do it all right okay
7:57
we'll do yeah we'll do a bit of um
7:59
guilty it was the first single that we
8:01
released as one the duo okay um let's
8:04
see Feels Like Only Yesterday
8:09
clouds with every shade of gray
8:13
I still feel the midnight chill
8:17

8:25

8:30

8:38

8:41
I ain't guilty
8:46

9:06
it was either him or me guilty
9:11
[Music]

9:33

9:37

9:39
they feel your dedication they feel your
9:41

10:10
this street art didn't understand they
10:11
were dealing with men women mothers
10:13
fathers two years some of I slipped
10:14
through the cracks but the ones that we
10:16
put nothing above the way they look up
10:18
to us man that's beautiful fly like the
10:21
sauce is being flown yo they tapping
10:24

10:39
borders from illegal aliens visiting
10:41

10:43

your hair on the cloud died some
10:52
Chemtrails if the walls could talk they
10:54

11:19
figures I ain't nothing but an animal
11:21
with his claws on a trigger there's a
11:23
difference between Brands and labels
11:24
they invite you to the table and try and
11:26
label your brand change the B to your
11:28

11:30
