0:17
everyone Merlin stand up man you got a superstar on your hands stand come on
0:23
man this guy from Hairspray to uh Legally Blonde Cinderella uh The Voice
0:29
uh this young man has just been a a sparkling light in the canvas of what we
0:34
call entertainment and one of the things about him that makes him special citizens you people ask all the time who
0:40
are some of the coolest people you met that they consider to be celebrities yeah and there a maybe five I can name
0:48
you know and his name is one of them uh miles Frost is here CTI say give this
0:53
man a big round of applause smome home welcome home highly decorated yeah High
1:00
decorated man I I you know sometimes I you know I'll like a picture or I I'll send clips of me interviewing him and it
1:07
seemed like people like me more because I know him so I want to say thank you miles Frost welcome back to the show
1:12
miles frosts good to be home how y'all feeling you good we great man good I wanted to
1:19
play we played we started with you sending singing uh rock with you with Michael Jackson you know that that AR
1:25
capella um because that that was right after um we had got a chance to see see
1:30
you on Broadway yeah and I promise you miles we when you're not even just last
1:35
week I feel like we were talking about how great that was because of Quincy Jones remember we were here celebrating
1:41
the life of Quincy Jones and obviously Michael Jackson's name came up and then your name comes up after Michael Jackson
1:48
that's incredible yeah that's dope man that's an honor like I you know that'll never get old for me and it just reminds
1:54
me to just to just stay humble you know I it's been a journey I'm 25 now I got
2:00
this role when I was 21 damn you 25 now mhm that's just like time time flies
2:06
that's crazy time flies so we known you we known you that long yeah wow you're a
2:11
young man Michael was 25 when he made Thriller M that's why I feel like for me it's it's my time to get into the mama
2:18
house Frost bag you know what I'm saying really just Branch off and and figure out who I am well I'm glad you're not
2:24
just totally pushing Michael to the side abely you know some f feel like they'll
2:30
get pigeon ho hold or typ casted but that that's not a concern at all not at
2:36
all because it's it's all in the way that I portray Michael like I never wanted to impersonate Michael that was
2:42
never my goal I never claimed it you know even Prince and I his son you know had a conversation uh early early you
2:48
and Michael's son okay and that's like he's like a brother to me so you know we had a conversation earlier on um and he
2:55
was just saying that he appreciates the fact that I didn't try to impersonate his father MH because and I was like yeah man you know that's not what I want
3:01
to do I want to show Michael's life through the lens of Miles Frost because that's the only thing that I can do I can't be Michael I can't sing song
3:08
Michael songs the way he would single because that's his song I can't put the emotional content that he puts into his
3:14
own music because that's his music uh I'll never be able to match that what about in other ways that Michael was
3:20
great you know outside of the studio outside of the the singer Booth we know now that Michael was an adamant
3:27
businessman you know he was in the process of possibly part ping he had the dream of purching purchasing sorry
3:34
Marvel you know he bought up a lot of publishing you know he did that cuz he couldn't be Spider-Man because he wanted
3:40
to be Spider-Man okay which is CRA the story go ahead yeah so from what I've heard he wanted to be Spider-Man and
3:47
like they were like nah so he was like fine I'mma try to buy marrow so then I can be Spider-Man that was like the
3:53
whole Michael Michael don't fight he buy [ __ ] W is a weapon that's what I'm saying like if you not how to use it
3:58
correctly you know like Michael was absolutely a businessman so yeah you know I definitely look up to him in that
4:04
way as well and speaking of that's why I'm ready to go into my into my own bag
4:10
my 25 year bag you know like Michael did Michael said you know 25 I'm 25 years old I'm going to make I'm going to shake
4:17
the world so I'm ready to you ready to shake the world absolutely miles Frost LLC miles Frost LLC that part right
4:24
there okay that part right there that part right there okay so what you doing you got your own label yes so I I have
4:30
my own you know my own business I'm going to have like subsets of business at Frost entertainment as well which I'm probably going to make into a label um I
4:37
also want to get into philanthropy uh Prince and I talked about that that as well as far as creating a space for
4:44
young kids to be creative especially in in prover communities um and also have
4:50
that double as like a mentoring kind of situation as well for young men who didn't have fathers you know what I'm
4:55
saying who aren't as close to their fathers and need that guidance you know or grew up with women on my life like I like I did and we're missing some of the
5:02
fundamentals you know some of those foundational things that make you a strong man I like that man miles Frost
5:08
is here okay so all right I kind of still wanted to go see you we still
5:14
going to see you on on Broadway right we we were talking about going back the second time man I'm in London now man so
5:21
I'm in I'm in London you want come to London we got a passport we got a
5:26
passport let's do it let's do it how long are you in London I'm I'm in
5:31
London for a good minute but okay that sounds
5:38
like a l okay all right you're in London for a good minute okay for a good minute I can't I can't say yet I got it um
5:46
catch me catch me while you can you that's I say that damn catch me while you can where do you live now though
5:52
where were you consider home uh home for me uh outside of London is is buy Maryland so okay you know that's that's
5:59
nice you know buoy State bu you know they shout out to buoy State as well they really helped me they help me get
6:05
my degree when I was in the midst of doing MJ that man got his degree Round of Applause he got a college degree okay
6:12
beautiful than you thank you appreciate that you know it's it's hard but it's worth it and I made a promise to my
6:18
grandma who you know we spoke about you know briefly you know she's 91 and she
6:24
said I can go and do this Broadway stuff as long as I finish and get my degree
6:29
and you know 91 not everybody lives to see that so the fact that I was able to do all those things and just do all of
6:35
the career things that I've done so far and she's been able to witness it has been a blessing within itself this is
6:40
Miles Frost y'all come on man you know it's been crazy MJ the Musical on
6:46
Broadway absolutely who's picking out your wardrobe dude I notic that like every day you on Instagram with new
6:52
fresh ass gear I know you ain't paying for it out here you know I mean it's a pressure to dress every single day
7:00
well you know what's crazy speaking of wardrobe it's been crazy because my style is like I love like vintage kind
7:08
of styles like 70s like the flare pants like I love that but because I've done Michael Jackson people think I'm just
7:13
trying to dress like Michael and I'm like no it's hard when you have the same interest or like the same kind of style in your heart but you've done somebody
7:21
May way way bigger than you that has the same kind of athetic or like the same kind of style or feel so it's forcing me
7:27
to to Branch off into other things and like you know other styles and say okay
7:33
what if I rock this with this and what if I rock this with this still keeping it classy but like fresh at the same time and it's it's really pushing me I'm
7:39
trying to um do my own like little fashion line as well so wow very nice you know what I appreciate about miles
7:45
and let y'all jump in is you know for your age a lot of times in this age well
7:50
I got a daughter your age so you know what I mean and so I I hear The Angst I
7:55
hear the struggle or the mental struggle at least you know the way people are perceiving the world y'all came up at a
8:02
crazy time you know covid all these different things that were happening but man listen into your story it's all joy
8:11
mm that's what he's choosing to focus on I I hear the joy man I got friends that
8:16
aren't 25 they didn't live to see 25 yeah I lost a cousin at 22 I was I was literally about to walk on stage and
8:23
when I was in London this is like three and a half four months ago wow and um I
8:28
got a IG mess message from one of my other cousins saying that my little cousin andir passed away and she you
8:35
know was sick she had been in the hospital for a couple days and um you know right right before I went on stage
8:42
I looked down at my phone I see uras passed away and I like broke down but it was too late I had to go out and perform
8:49
so I dedicated the show to her and I tell you say what you want about Michael but Michael has some songs man that just
8:55
touch your heart Oh yeah and when I got to She's Out of My Life man I broke down now wow one stage I just I just needed a
9:01
moment MH and yeah so I carry that with me and I
9:09
I'd much rather be happy than think about all the things that I've lost and if if anything I want to respect the
9:16
people and the things that I lost I've lost by continuing to be happy and continuing to to be on my grind and
9:21
continue to to be great and you know people may think I'm crazy but I know I'm going be bigger than Michael Jackson
9:27
one day and even if that's you know crazy thing to say to some people I figure why not shoot for that and if I
9:33
miss I'll be in pretty good shape you know what I'm saying come on man I love that love thank you Miles
9:40
when you were speaking about um philanthropy and how you want to have a program for young boys who don't have
9:47
access to their father for whatever reason or just need more um male mentors
9:53
and you spoke about how there's just these foundational pieces that are
9:59
missing when you don't have a male figure and it was something that you could relate to absolutely yeah can you
10:05
speak about those foundational pieces and who mile was when it was missing and who miles is now that it's here yeah I
10:12
think a big chunk of it especially for black men is misplace anger um and how we express that you know cuz I be I
10:20
would used to be upset that me and my father didn't have a certain type of relationship so I would take it out on my mom and being that my mom you know
10:27
she's like oh I'm doing the best I can't I'm doing I'm like but I'm I'm missing something I'm missing something because she's there I'm just upset I'm just mad
10:34
I don't I don't know what I need but what I needed was my father to help balance that out that's you know but you
10:40
know and I got to a point where I was like Mom this is this is not you this is not on you this is on me yeah and I
10:47
apologize for for putting all of that anger and all of that confusion on you and kind of expecting you to figure it
10:54
out like you always have you know cuz that's what black women do they figure it out figure it out man you know what I'm saying and you know obviously I
11:01
didn't know that at the time but when I got older I was like you know I really do apologize for that and you know now
11:06
everything that I do even back then everything that I did was to you know make a better situation for her and for my sister and for my grandmother you
11:12
know but even more now I'm realizing how important it is so like I think that misplaced anger or how to deal with that
11:20
um is definitely at the top of that list I think style how you talk to people um
11:27
how you're perceived um how you respect yourself understanding the importance of mental health as a black man understanding you
11:36
know how to how to what what that entails like going into therapy like therapy is important I've been in
11:42
therapy since I was 16 like that's not something to shy away from and we don't talk about it enough I know we're doing a great job now but like my mother's
11:48
generation I'm sure y's generation like y like that wasn't that wasn't a thing you talked about was how you spell
11:55
it we didn't we didn't know tab it was taboo yeah it was frowned on because
12:01
they thought you had something something wrong with you crazy well they would tell you ain't nothing wrong with you you a punk you a crybaby you this you
12:07
that go go pray go to church church you depressed okay well watch go be depressed and wash some dishes cuz they
12:13
still need to get you know like it was very brushed off and so I'm like you know I try
12:19
to reflect you know think about you know all the things that I've learned up until this point things that I've had to
12:25
learn by myself just through life learn also learning how to stand up for yourself and learning how to make your
12:31
no your no mhm you know matter of fact I'll share something with yall okay cool
12:36
you about to tell somebody know kind of person just said matter of fact I'm not
12:42
doing [ __ ] else so I made these codes with my therapist a long time ago a
12:48
thank you and they're like things that I I live by things that I try to you know just just you know think about every
12:55
morning every day number one put her first number two no excuses don't make
13:00
them don't give them don't accept them number three always tell the truth
13:05
number four your word is your bond if you give it you must keep it everything you do and say has meaning to it number
13:11
five what people think about me is none of my business that's a big one everybody's so worried about you was it
13:16
has nothing to do with you that's how they feel yeah as long it starts affecting you when you take on that and say well that's that's how I feel about
13:22
myself now number six my yes is my yes and my no is my no and I don't have to explain
13:27
either one D and number seven get off the cross because we could use the wood
13:32
oh my man FR my gosh who is the her and number one if you're comfortable sharing
13:40
um you know right right now it's my mother you know my sister all the strong women in my life you know but I'm a
13:47
single man okay you know you said that would man I'm a single man I'm on the
13:54
market I see your your your your igig
14:02
stalker YouRock I got different accounts he
14:07
won't know it's me so got them burner accounts got burners kid let me check I love what you
14:16
live by I'm yeah I love that those seven principles that you start your day off with that kind of discipline we didn't
14:23
have that at 25 that's one of the first things like cuz even with therapy was hard for me because you had to find the right person
14:29
to you know you can connect with and when I was growing up I just had a thing about men over 40 I was like I want talk
14:35
they always on some on some ra [ __ ] and then my therapist uh you know was in his 50s when I met him and the first thing
14:43
he said was what's up bro I had never had a older man bro me you know like put me on his on make me feel like I was on
14:48
his level because I'm like I got to be the protector of my family I got to be this and I felt like nobody took me seriously cuz I'm I'm short so it's like
14:55
you know it's even harder when you're short and you're trying to be like I'm you know I'm yeah M people like no you're not so when he kind of embraced
15:02
me like that um I was it disarmed me immediately yeah I was like I can't even
15:08
fight you bro like I I was so ready I came here with so much like aggression I came here with so I was I was so ready
15:13
for you to say something I was gonna piss me off just so I can be like yeah and he was like what's up bro it's good to see you I was like oh yeah yeah it's
15:22
good to see you too [Laughter] man and he's been my third ever since
15:29
you know so it's important and sometimes you know as a young black man you just need to be disarmed by by kindness by
15:36
true kindness yes you know cuz a lot of us have never felt you know felt that before it's like you you know you look at so many people's stories you know you
15:43
know men growing up in the trenches even women too like it's not it's not gender specific you know it's you know every
15:48
anybody they have this hard exterior you know but a lot of people have to do have to do that in order to survive in order
15:55
to take care of themselves in order to take care of their families but if you put them in an environment where they
16:01
don't have to to be so you know be so tough you you'll find that a lot of people are very soft and just want to be
16:06
loved and just want to share love in their own ways especially black men come on come on now come on absolutely
16:12
especially black men you don't you don't get that you know a lot of people want to be loved want to give love don't mind
16:19
being soft so-called whatever that is whatever what is soft you know what I mean like
16:26
okay being vulnerable as a man to me is one of the most manly things that you
16:31
can do I'm not saying cry all the time about everything that's not what I'm saying cuz I'm not a crier you know by
16:37
Nature my mom was very much like suck what you crying for all the time like stop crying like you know cry ain't gonna solve nothing so that's how I grew
16:43
up you know but as a man you need that release man you sometimes you just got
16:48
even if you do it by yourself you ain't got to tell nobody you did it you know what I'm saying you're not doing it for cloud you're doing it for yourself so
16:53
you have to take that time to just let it out because you'll feel better you know what I'm saying that's
16:59
the wisdom the children about to start crying now it's okay cry every day
17:06
whatever I'm in a safe space to cry I would I would cry with my my younger brother here I just don't have it in me
17:13
right now I didn't drink no water you going to cry with me you said come on man we just going to cry together hey I pray with you you know
17:19
what I'm saying like Okay I love that I would pray with you brother church is very important to me too you know just
17:24
being close to God you know God has shown me why like the power that he has for my life cuz I came into I was like I
17:30
was 16 I'm like I got a plan I'm going to be a music artist I'm going to be in movies I'm going to be in TV he said you're going to Broadway I said okay um
17:37
that's cool too that's cool too you know but not not knowing that it would open so many doors so I can be able to do
17:44
they put me in a position where I can do the things that I I said that I wanted to do it's not it's not that he ignores me he's just like he he has to he has to
17:51
formulate the plan you know say he just got to put the he plays chess I wanted to play Checkers at 16 you know what I'm
17:57
saying so if I see if I see a move I can jump I'm like bet I'mma do that I'mma do that oh I got two shoot but the chest
18:05
strategy just hit different when it you know does that ring even more true um what is it 2017 when you audition for
18:12
The Voice and didn't make it past the first round like you didn't even get out of the audition stage of it which is
18:18
mind-blowing to me but it's just proof for everybody who wants to do it they don't always get it right they don't
18:23
know what they're talking about a lot of times but you see how God still ordered your steps can I tell you a full circle
18:30
moment about that so the judges were so I was on like my episode was air but obviously I didn't make it past the
18:36
blonde I didn't get a chair turn the judges at the time were Adam Lavine Blake Sheldon Miley Cyrus and Jennifer
18:41
Hudson excuse me and when ain't it funny that when I was on the red carpet
18:50
after I just won my Tony at the Tony Awards who come walking down cuz she just want her Tony too that made her ego
18:57
got L wow what a moment did she see you on the carpet yeah what she you know I
19:05
didn't think she would remember you know cuz you know they go through a lot of people it's a whole process but my mom was there my mom was like Jennifer
19:10
Jennifer so do you remember my son when he was 17 mom trying to be cool my Tony be cool
19:19
you know but you know that's not only for me for my mom too cuz I know she wanted it for me as well in that moment
19:25
and you know it was it was tough but it was supposed to happen it was supposed
19:30
to happen look at Jennifer hson she didn't win the um American Idol that year but she won and I got a top morning
19:38
talk show come OT like you said absolutely come on Mike news I have a question about relatability for you I'm
19:45
just curious listening to you have such a strong Constitution at the age of 25 I couldn't imagine having such a strong Constitution with seven morals and
19:51
principles that that you live by and you talking about Brotherhood and manhood and vulnerability who is your friend Circle
19:59
I'm wondering is it older individuals like how do you relate to people your
20:04
age and how do you have to remove yourself from um certain situations
20:09
because it's not serving you um in terms of conversation and
20:16
Constitution a lot of people have said like this this is a lonely business but it's also all in who you know like it's
20:22
such a the dichotomy of that is crazy to me you know cuz a lot of people who are
20:28
my age aren't necessarily where I am you know
20:34
in life so they feel like we can't have regular conversation so I get treated differently and I'm like n like I'm just
20:40
I'm I care about people who care about me not about what I do not about how far I've come like as long as you have a
20:46
like drive like I I want to be around people with drive if you don't have no drive you know know what I'm saying then
20:51
what you doing you my age and I'm doing this I'm trying to be a good example for you you got to be a good example for me
20:57
you see what I'm saying but it's not it's not always about like how how big you are you know what I'm saying like
21:03
it's about the work and the work ethic that you have and the things that you want to do like if you want to be a YouTuber you know what I'm saying make
21:09
you if and you play video games stream you know what I'm saying like do like make videos you play in the game like you know make it work for you and if I
21:17
see that you're like doing that every day without fail regardless of how many views you get three views five views a
21:23
million and you're sticking to it I can be your friend because I see that I see your work ethic I see your consistency M
21:29
you don't have to you don't have to be at 2.5 million subscribers for me to acknowledge you that's not what friends
21:35
do wow man you know so and it that doesn't have a age limit either because there's a lot of much older people who
21:41
ain't doing [ __ ] either facts [ __ ] it's all relative to the person that you are
21:47
man trust me as a much older person it's a lot of us ain't doing ain't doing what you're saying but I'm glad I I fit your
21:54
uh criteria he didn't say that he didn't say that he didn't say that no he didn't
22:01
I like oh yeah man what you doing now man I'm I'm just living life man like
22:07
what that mean though yeah okay keep living dog I'll talk to you later Jason
22:12
is in San Antonio you want to talk to J hey Jason what up what up how you doing
22:18
man how you doing brother what's up Jay so I'm 41 so I'm from the Michael
22:24
Jackson era when he came out with the mov Walker
22:29
it was the VHS right so that was my typical
22:35
babysitter so and for me to black out everything was I would watch the moon
22:40
walker wow wow I would sit there all day and night like when he went into that
22:46
Hideway you know when he when he wrote Thrillers that that this is the time
22:52
frame and he he really helped me he really helped me get through a whole lot man yeah man glad to hear that you know
22:59
Michael has saved and Shi you said it's not easy to not easy
23:06
so are you familiar with Miles Frost Jason I am not okay so do a Google hold
23:14
on the line Google miles Frost okay but you heard this this conversation we're having so obviously who this man is is
23:21
very compelling and appealing and when you Google him you will find out how incredible and talented and to is at
23:29
such a young age yep all right go ahead and Google them I'mma put you on hold because I want to I want miles to
23:35
demonstrate something man I know bro I know your voice is probably tired you know you've been traveling you over the
23:41
pond you traveling across the Atlantic but bro we normally do Five Fingers of
23:48
life here we changed the name it used to be Five Fingers of Death because it was ruining a lot of people
23:54
careers way hey look for me call it five figures of life I was going to say you
23:59
know for me like I'm an artist you know I I write songs I'm very I'm very new to the game but I want to show that this
24:08
ain't about being perfect this is just about having fun and showing that you love it and I trust myself and whatever
24:14
I'm freestyling I ain't got nothing written oh you know what I'm saying like I saw Eric Bellinger was like one of the
24:19
last people to come on here and like really do it like that so I'm like where my I got the women are killing the game right now you know what I'm saying the
24:25
women are killing it so yeah Bobby Brown did it so you in good company man
24:30
absolutely absolutely man I want to I just want to try to see what comes out and if it's some [ __ ] so it'll be
