it's first aid with kelly kincaid
0:16
hello and welcome to first aid with
0:18
kelly kincaid
0:19
i'm kelly kincaid your host and you know
0:22
this is a special
0:23
topic for me today because in the month
0:25
of february which is my favorite month
0:27
because
0:28
it's my birthday month and it is also
0:31
american heart month and i want to
0:34
welcome my guests today so we can talk
0:35
about
0:36
the heart because it is important you
0:38
know without your heart pumping
0:40
you ain't living my guests today our
0:42
coach jesse who is a nutritionist
0:44
and founder of thedetoxnow.com
0:48
and we have takeisha white who is the
0:50
campaign managing consultant
0:52
for the release the pressure
0:55
welcome to the show ladies how are you
0:57
all doing today
0:58
fantastic thank you for having us so
1:01
excited about this conversation
1:03
yeah so february is american heart month
1:06
let's talk about
1:07
why is there a concentration to talk
1:10
about heart awareness and let's start
1:12
with you takisha
1:14
so the heart awareness was really coming
1:16
from the release the pressure campaign
1:19
and the campaign in itself was designed
1:22
to support black women in preventing
1:25
heart health issues in their life so the
1:28
campaign is actually burst out of a
1:31
coalition
1:32
that was formed by the american medical
1:34
association
1:35
the american heart association the
1:37
minority health institute
1:39
the national medical association and the
1:41
association for black cardiologists
1:44
and the american medical association
1:46
foundation
1:48
this coalition came together to just
1:51
to discuss heart health within black
1:54
within the black community particularly
1:56
as it impacts black women
1:57
but then also to create a movement that
2:00
nurtures relationship within black women
2:02
so that it's not just self-care but it's
2:04
also squad care
2:06
so once we launched this campaign
2:10
we decided to leverage the activities
2:12
that happen each month
2:13
and of course american heart association
2:16
always though
2:17
does you know go red day wear red day
2:19
and consistently promotes heart health
2:22
and so we wanted to connect with that
2:24
and do a special event
2:26
that helped to promote love and health
2:28
to promote self-care as
2:30
love and so we like you know pinned
2:32
ourselves to valentine's day
2:34
and created an amazing event to promote
2:36
the focus of heart health
2:38
but also self-love and self-care right
2:41
and jesse you know you you're the detox
2:44
now
2:45
program is an amazing program you have
2:47
people like angela yee and ashanti and
2:50
the list goes on of who's jumping on
2:52
board for the detox
2:53
what made you want to partner with the
2:56
release the pressure campaign
2:58
i love that question so you know when i
3:00
was here last time we talked about
3:02
fibroids me being a survivor
3:04
turned nutritionist and health coach and
3:06
here's the deal we talked about the fact
3:08
that
3:09
why black women are disproportionately
3:11
affected by fibroids
3:13
is because of the stress caused by the
3:16
trauma of racism right
3:18
so let's heart like hone in on that
3:20
because that's a big
3:21
piece because i'm sure it's no surprise
3:24
to you that the connect there is a
3:25
connection
3:26
between fibroids and heart disease and
3:28
that is the stress
3:29
right so when we look at the stats
3:32
nearly 50 percent
3:33
you know number one let's start off with
3:35
the fact that um heart disease is the
3:37
number one killer of black women
3:39
all right and 50 of black women over
3:42
age of 20 have heart disease high blood
3:45
pressure
3:46
puts us at an increased heart rate for
3:48
the heart disease
3:49
and black women suffer high blood
3:51
pressure nearly 40
3:52
percent more than white women in the us
3:55
so now let's connect those dots you've
3:57
got stress
3:58
right it stress produces in our bodies
4:01
hormones like adrenaline
4:03
which trigger our um cortisol and fight
4:06
or flight response
4:07
right and then this natural fear-based
4:09
response can make
4:10
our hearts temporarily beat faster and
4:14
work harder and when our hearts get
4:16
faster and harder
4:18
our blood vessels become more narrow
4:20
which can lead to high blood pressure
4:22
so for me i told takisha the minute she
4:24
called me about this
4:26
i was like this is critical because
4:28
we're attacking a root issue remember
4:30
when i talked about fibroids being
4:33
triggered by stress
4:34
diet and chemical pollutants because
4:36
those things trigger the hormonal
4:37
imbalance
4:38
that is called estrogen dominance right
4:41
but
4:41
when we look at okay what is going to
4:44
help the women
4:45
the very number one thing is the stress
4:48
so
4:48
release the pressure is about helping
4:50
women to
4:51
create intentionally create self-care as
4:55
the foundation
4:56
of the way they you know in our
4:58
galentine's day program we focused on
5:00
what
5:00
love work and wellness and self-care at
5:03
the root and the foundation of that so
5:05
for me it was like look
5:06
that's a big rock that's how we're gonna
5:08
help women to because you could eat
5:10
right kelly
5:11
you could take the supplements you can
5:13
sleep but if you're not
5:14
dealing with your stress properly you
5:16
know what that means it's going to
5:18
undermine
5:18
everything you know i talked to you when
5:20
i was here before how my fibroids
5:22
tripled in size
5:24
when it was a stressful period in my
5:26
life it wasn't because my food changed
5:28
it wasn't because my environment changed
5:30
it was because of the stress so i
5:32
love what the coalition is doing in the
5:33
campaign is doing
5:35
because it helps specifically to attack
5:37
that very big thing
5:38
that is affecting when we look at the
5:40
covet implications
5:42
right the trauma of racism and the
5:43
stress it produces in us
5:45
made us disproportionately more at risk
5:48
right same thing you know takisha i i
5:52
feel you know
5:53
we're just not meeting but i feel the
5:54
word dynamic
5:56
comes you exude dynamic yeah
5:59
i think you know women we are we all are
6:02
dynamic
6:03
but what drew you to this this program
6:06
like
6:06
releasing because as women as black
6:08
women we do have a lot of pressure
6:10
what was it about this campaign
6:13
that made you want to be a part of and
6:15
attach your name to it
6:17
um first of all it's black on black on
6:19
black on black which is
6:23
centering black women it was
6:25
unapologetically about black women
6:27
supporting and lifting up black women
6:29
and recognizing that
6:31
black women carry a disproportionate
6:34
burden
6:34
of community a disproportionate burden
6:36
of of um
6:38
socioeconomic status and mobility and
6:41
pressures that require uh code switching
6:45
and that result in weathering and that
6:47
result in heartbreak and broken families
6:49
and the disappearing of our young men
6:50
and the disappearing of our husbands and
6:52
fathers
6:53
through the mass incarceration and all
6:54
kinds of other things right
6:56
and so when i was talking with the uh
6:59
creator in the ins the the inspiration
7:02
of release the pressure um vice
7:03
president of communications and product
7:05
strategy
7:06
ms stephanie johnson she talked about
7:09
how
7:09
she wanted to break this cycle within
7:12
her family because she had recently lost
7:14
her mother
7:15
and her sister to heart health
7:16
conditions and
7:18
we were talking about how it is a result
7:20
of systemic
7:22
strep and structural racism and so
7:25
knowing your high blood pressure numbers
7:27
and understanding
7:28
what components in society create high
7:31
blood pressure
7:32
is really an act of resistance so it is
7:34
like that audrey lord
7:36
quote that talks about how self-love and
7:38
centering yourself
7:39
is an act of warfare is an act of
7:41
political warfare and so i was
7:43
down for it because i could see how one
7:45
we would be together we would be in
7:47
community it's
7:48
a group of black women leading this dr
7:50
elita maybank
7:51
that's the leader of the center for
7:53
health equity at the american medical
7:55
association
7:55
and stephanie johnson these two black
7:57
women spearheading as
7:59
pillars this this uh campaign and
8:01
opening up an equitable process
8:03
to include physicians of color to
8:06
include
8:06
marketers of colors content creators of
8:08
colors influencers of colors
8:10
nutritionists all across the board i was
8:13
like there is nothing else i want to be
8:15
a part of right now
8:16
in terms of health camp and so that's
8:18
why i came into this space because they
8:20
were willing to name
8:21
racism as a root cause for per health
8:24
and equity
8:24
and on top of that center how black
8:27
women
8:28
deserve to have self-care as an act of
8:30
resistance
8:31
and name self-care as self-love and
8:34
equipped with resources
8:35
too yeah that was a big deal too because
8:38
you can feel you can be
8:39
oh yeah that's the issue but then put
8:41
the dollars around it like
8:42
you know this event we just had this
8:44
weekend which is
8:45
available for replay at
8:47
releasethepressure.org
8:51
oh my god it was not your typical
8:54
it was a galentine's day national i'm
8:56
gonna get it right
8:57
national virtual vision board party
8:59
right kelly break this wellness
9:01
vision board down because a lot of
9:03
people attempt to do it because a lot of
9:05
people think
9:06
okay let me just get a whole bunch of
9:07
magazines and some scissors
9:09
and just paste some stuff on here but a
9:11
wellness vision board
9:13
paint the picture for people who may
9:15
have never done a vision board
9:17
or this themed vision board what did you
9:19
guys do well
9:21
okay you want to go first with me i just
9:23
want to offer one thing so
9:25
yes of it was that the vision board work
9:27
is one of our signature contributions
9:30
through the website of
9:31
releasethepressure.org
9:32
and what was happening was it was the
9:34
most highly engaged
9:36
resource that we had so even though we
9:38
just refreshed our website
9:40
and folks were just drawn to this vision
9:42
board resource
9:43
and they were creating squads and coming
9:45
together in groups to create a vision
9:47
board
9:48
and so when i had the idea like how can
9:50
we you know around the
9:51
along the lines of self-love how can we
9:53
celebrate galen times and get us to get
9:55
get our girls together and talk love
9:57
talk life talk what's next
9:59
right um vision boarding came for
10:01
through a colleague of mine crystal
10:02
edwards she was like
10:04
we should do a vision for a party and
10:06
then the visionary
10:08
of my dreams is coach jesse so i was
10:10
like
10:11
there is no visionary no powerful
10:14
wonderful wellness packed woman like
10:16
coach jesse she is the perfect
10:18
woman to host the to host the vision
10:20
board party and when we got together
10:22
it was sparks flying it was awesome
10:25
really yeah break it down to me
10:29
and this was this was all virtual
10:30
everyone zoomed in
10:32
okay all virtual and it wasn't through
10:36
zoom it was through another platform but
10:37
it was all over
10:38
okay and so this was not your typical
10:41
vision board party where
10:42
you know the success is our focus right
10:46
right
10:46
because that's really you know like okay
10:48
what is it what is success going to be
10:49
like in your life
10:50
but this was all about self-care
10:53
as we said as a form of resistance
10:55
against the pressure of a life that is
10:58
like a pressure cooker kelly
11:00
you know that's why i keep saying a life
11:02
is like a pressure cooker especially for
11:04
a black woman
11:05
and but it's a pressure cooker that
11:06
doesn't have a release valve
11:08
and because when something doesn't have
11:10
a release belt think about the pressure
11:11
cooker without the release valve
11:12
it would explode it would actually be a
11:14
weapon it would be it would cause
11:16
you know actual danger it would cause
11:18
actual damage
11:19
so our purpose was to inspire and
11:21
empower girlfriends
11:23
literally all around the world i didn't
11:24
tell you but i had a girlfriend from
11:26
london on
11:27
she told me about oh it was so
11:29
phenomenal
11:31
and i thought you know so it was really
11:33
international right
11:34
and really to inspire them with girl
11:36
chats with workshops specifically around
11:38
the major areas of life that were
11:40
love work and wellness right
11:44
and then now looking at each of those
11:46
areas
11:47
it was about how does self-care become a
11:49
differentiating
11:51
strategy for sustain sustainable success
11:54
and that was
11:54
so huge kelly because
11:57
usually we think about it as how am i
12:00
going to
12:01
um be successful in this area right but
12:03
don't think okay
12:04
wait a minute if i don't build self-love
12:07
and self-care excuse me as the
12:09
foundation
12:10
for my pursuit in that area that i'm not
12:13
it's not going to be sustainable what i
12:14
achieved
12:15
so that's what we really focused on and
12:17
the workshop we've had like
12:19
three workshops which were in those
12:21
areas in between
12:23
with um in fact we had angela yi was um
12:26
was our celebrity guest and she was
12:28
oh she was so so um transparent and
12:31
and just authentic and one of the things
12:34
she shared which was so powerful was
12:36
when she talked about with the question
12:37
i think
12:38
was you know what does self-care look
12:40
like one of the things you do for
12:41
self-care and she said
12:42
well one of the things i love to do is
12:44
when i feel down
12:45
is to help someone else right and that
12:48
was really powerful
12:49
because you know when you help someone
12:51
else it makes you feel more empowered
12:53
right
12:53
and then she said like checking on your
12:54
friends that's a really important thing
12:56
to do
12:56
but then she said but you know when you
12:58
check on your friends
13:00
don't just check on how they're doing
13:02
actually
13:03
tell them how you're doing and that
13:05
really took
13:06
it really took away that impostor
13:08
syndrome of feeling like black women
13:09
feeling like we have to be super women
13:11
right because we're always carrying that
13:14
and we have to say
13:15
no you know what that is killing us that
13:17
is actually suffocating us
13:19
and we have to turn around and say no
13:20
you know what i'm human i'm real
13:23
i'm a person and i deserve care i
13:25
deserve that care
13:27
we do so much and forget about ourselves
13:29
you know and this was the first one
13:31
correct
13:33
yes yes this was the inaugural in august
13:36
you know virtual and we're coming back
13:38
baby because this is like a question
13:39
because i need to get in on it i need to
13:41
get on it
13:43
yeah absolutely and that's the centering
13:46
of visioneering and allowing us to
13:48
really be reflective around how we set
13:51
our vision
13:52
and be honest about the things that we
13:53
desired and give permission to one
13:56
another to put those things forward
13:58
on a vision board make the vision plain
14:00
so that when they look at it they can
14:01
run
14:02
and believe in ourselves and believe in
14:03
the value of ourselves was a part of
14:05
every single conversation
14:07
each panel on like unpacked from within
14:10
themselves
14:11
what are the things that they had to
14:12
overcome in order to place it to put
14:15
self-care and self-love in the middle of
14:17
their lives like what were some of the
14:18
challenges the mental and emotional
14:20
barriers
14:21
that they had to interact with and
14:23
overcome in order to see themselves as
14:25
valuable enough
14:26
to even practice self-care and self-love
14:29
and so these conversations were
14:30
consistently like
14:31
they were turning and turning and then
14:33
there were the tips right
14:35
like share what you shared about the
14:37
intentions and goal setting
14:38
and the right so i was it was so yummy
14:42
yeah gonna say can you please share
14:44
anonymously
14:45
of some of the things that people
14:47
discovered about themselves
14:48
and some tips yes absolutely so one of
14:52
the things that was coming up that i
14:54
brought forth
14:55
is that the mind is the most powerful
14:57
tool on earth
14:58
and each one of us not only do we all
15:01
have a mind but then we have
15:02
our very own uniquely designed and
15:05
purposeful mind
15:06
that brings forth something that no one
15:08
else can bring forth
15:09
and so understanding that the tool that
15:12
the mind use in order to deliver and
15:15
manifest things in the world
15:16
is the intention and so the intention
15:19
serves like
15:19
if our mind was a highway the intention
15:22
would be billboards
15:23
that consistently tell you to do this
15:26
thing you're going in the right
15:27
direction
15:28
you are valuable you are enough you are
15:30
successful you will create the thing
15:32
that you set forth to create in your
15:33
mind and it will be accomplished
15:35
with excellence so the intention is the
15:37
one that keeps you going and keeps it
15:39
moving for
15:40
you but not only does it is it for you
15:42
but when you leave a billboard the
15:44
billboard stays
15:45
so the billboard can continue to do work
15:47
for the community it can do work for
15:49
your family it can do work for your
15:50
friends
15:51
that's how powerful the mind is when you
15:52
put forth something into the world
15:54
from your mind it can do work in other
15:57
lives
15:58
not just your own life and so that's
16:00
what we brought forth around
16:01
the intention and then in order to
16:04
continue to bring life to your intention
16:06
all you need to do is create mindful
16:08
moments and what did you call our
16:09
mindful moments coach today oh yes i
16:11
called it the release breath
16:13
the release breath we have to do it
16:15
together tell him okay
16:16
you know like i'm living vicariously
16:19
through you all
16:20
but because i was i did not attend this
16:22
one but
16:23
i will be on the next one so please
16:25
bring me in and you can catch the replay
16:27
remember the replay
16:28
yeah yeah on the website the replay is
16:30
on the website um
16:32
demonstrate for you guys okay yes so
16:34
think about this all right number one
16:35
i'm going to tell you how to do it and
16:37
then we'll do it together
16:38
okay so i called it the release breath
16:40
because
16:41
when we when we breathe in a lot of
16:43
times it's shallow breath
16:45
it's throughout the day we're just
16:48
right and then we find ourselves there's
16:50
tension there's gritting of the teeth
16:52
there's tension in the
16:53
in the body and we don't realize that
16:54
what we're doing is the pressure is
16:56
building up
16:56
when we do that the pressure is building
16:59
up and i bet you if you check your high
17:01
your pressure at that time it's elevated
17:03
why
17:04
because you're you're holding that
17:05
pressure in right right
17:07
so the release breath is so powerful
17:09
because you count in
17:10
for the count of four and then you hold
17:13
it for four
17:14
and then you think about like as if you
17:16
had a release valve in the top of your
17:18
head sort of like
17:19
the whale has the blowhole but like the
17:21
a release valve at the top of your head
17:22
and you're
17:23
you're blowing you're exhaling the air
17:25
out of
17:26
the top of your head okay okay okay i
17:29
tested we're gonna do it now together so
17:30
you can see what it feels like okay
17:32
we're gonna breathe in for four
17:39
and then exhale
17:51
[Laughter]
17:57
do you feel that now think about that
18:00
right
18:01
what i loved takisha shared about how if
18:03
we will stop
18:04
i call it the stop the breathe and
18:06
exhale throughout the day
18:08
every two hours or so check in with
18:10
yourself this is something that is free
18:12
literally if we will just implement by
18:14
before we do something
18:16
we stop and we take do some deep
18:18
breathing
18:19
how it will reset our perspective it
18:22
will give us
18:22
um allow us to connect with our higher
18:26
self our best self in terms of our
18:28
best thinking right it will allow us to
18:31
say a prayer it will allow us to not
18:33
snap off
18:34
like to what you are saying we'll be
18:36
better partners we'll be better moms
18:38
we'll be better what did you say
18:40
exactly i was just saying if you take a
18:42
breath before you eat right before you
18:44
eat you will digest your food better
18:46
yeah if you take a breath before you
18:48
communicate with your children
18:49
you will be kinder and be able to
18:51
communicate with your children better
18:52
right
18:53
and if your partner is getting on your
18:55
lap
18:56
and you take a breath you will be able
18:59
to communicate with your partner better
19:02
that's what we were talking about
19:04
breathe yeah you know
19:05
what i find interesting on the campaign
19:07
um on release
19:09
the pressure the website um you had a
19:11
stat of nearly 80
19:13
of black adults who have high blood
19:16
pressure
19:16
don't have it under control i'm one of
19:19
those people
19:20
you know and i am you know i have i have
19:24
my fitbit on now and um i think for me
19:27
if i had
19:28
if i was well when i participate in the
19:30
wellness
19:31
board one of the words i would put in
19:34
is dedication and being dedicated to
19:37
myself because
19:39
every day my goal is getting that those
19:42
10
19:42
000 steps because american heart associ
19:45
association
19:46
uh american heart association says 10
19:49
000 steps a day is really good for your
19:51
heart and
19:52
how i've had to get it to click in for
19:55
myself was
19:56
if i don't dedicate myself to
19:59
if i don't dedicate me to me how can i
20:02
expect
20:03
others to want to dedicate to myself
20:06
and when and i did that i was on the uh
20:09
stairmaster
20:10
do um walking and it was like this light
20:13
bulb like
20:14
yes i got to dedicate myself to my life
20:17
i want to live long and so i really
20:20
every day when i get up
20:22
it's that dedicated you got you got to
20:24
commit to yourself kelly you got to
20:26
commit to yourself and
20:27
i guess for me what are some tips
20:30
that you can tell someone watching this
20:32
now
20:33
some woman some black woman to keep
20:36
moving to keep pushing
20:39
i want to you know the one of the things
20:40
that comes up for me is
20:42
we had jewel bush on our panel and she's
20:45
the
20:45
chief of external affairs for girl trek
20:48
this year girl track hit a major
20:50
milestone of over
20:51
1 million members 1 million black women
20:54
partnering with world treks to just take
20:57
steps around their neighborhood 30
20:59
minutes 20 minutes a day
21:00
every day just go outside and go for a
21:03
walk yeah now the thing that is so
21:05
amazing
21:06
about this concept about dedicate that
21:08
you brought forth
21:09
is the language the word dedicate right
21:12
and so when we think about dedication
21:14
sometimes we think about
21:16
commitment discipline but then there's
21:18
another one which is like this song is
21:20
dedicated
21:21
right about honoring
21:25
valuing lifting someone up and so if you
21:28
think about when you're about to come
21:29
outside into your community
21:30
if you're a girl track member you're
21:32
going to be dedicating this walk to the
21:34
black women
21:34
like they have done that have walked
21:36
thousands of miles across the united
21:38
states
21:38
in acts of resistance or dedicate this
21:41
to your mother or dedicate this to your
21:43
to your nieces and
21:44
your children your family but dedicate
21:47
it in a way of honoring lifting up and
21:49
paying homage in love
21:51
and so you're not in a space where
21:52
you're starting a conversation with
21:53
yourself every morning that's about
21:55
discipline and what you are
21:56
are not doing but you're starting a
21:58
conversation that's about legacy
22:00
and bringing life forward and loving
22:02
yourself
22:03
so that it could be a dedication in a
22:05
way that you're like you know what
22:06
i'm gonna dedicate my walk today to
22:08
myself right my fabulous house
22:10
i'm gonna dedicate my walk today to my
22:12
bestie i'm a dedicated you know
22:14
and you're bringing yourself forward in
22:16
this forwarding way
22:18
that is exuberant that is filled with
22:20
life
22:21
and love and so i think about that when
22:23
i think about girl track because they
22:25
dedicate their
22:26
walks to the many black women of who
22:28
have marched and done civil rights work
22:30
across the country
22:31
but they also and across history and
22:33
they dedicated to their
22:35
to the mothers and women within the
22:36
community who are living their best
22:38
lives
22:38
to prevent her health and to encourage
22:41
you know healthy lifestyles
22:42
so i would say the same thing for you in
22:44
that word dedicate
22:46
if you reframe and you read that word
22:48
you own it differently
22:50
and so it doesn't feel like discipline
22:52
but it feels like love and legacy and
22:54
long lasting life
22:55
i love it that's so powerful coach jesse
22:58
i wanted i wanted you to add to this
22:59
because
23:00
um yes stress is something that you
23:02
really talk about
23:04
what are some tips for uh black women as
23:07
far as
23:08
getting rid of the stress and releasing
23:10
the pressure
23:12
so um i also wanted to tack on to what
23:15
i'm going to
23:16
say that and i'm going to tag on to
23:17
something takeisha said is that
23:19
sometimes also people feel like i don't
23:20
have time to walk outside
23:22
the house they're also in-home in-home
23:24
walking programs you can literally
23:26
walk on like do like there's some things
23:29
all over youtube
23:30
there's this woman named leslie sansone
23:31
that's got a million walkers
23:33
that's like seriously you can walk
23:35
literally
23:36
at home and and what it does again the
23:39
cardiovascular health it
23:40
it helps you um you know move um trigger
23:43
your lymphatic system
23:45
so that you're helping to you know
23:46
really uh boost your immunity and
23:49
your body's detoxing itself so those are
23:51
all very powerful
23:52
and the only reason i wanted to tackle
23:54
that is because some people feel like
23:55
well i don't have time to go outside or
23:57
maybe it's nasty outside
23:59
and i want you know you can walk right
24:00
at home you can walk right in your
24:01
living room in your bedroom whatever it
24:03
is and it's still
24:04
going to give you that feel because i
24:06
love that dedicate piece
24:08
that dedicated i i dedicate this to me
24:11
i do i'm i'm cherishing there's a
24:13
cherished piece to that
24:15
there's a care piece to that a loving
24:17
piece of that that is wow you know what
24:19
it's lifting me up and it's drawing me
24:21
to do something that is loving for
24:23
myself and then
24:24
it's it's interesting you know takisha
24:27
and i actually
24:28
we partnered and created this um free
24:30
challenge called my detox
24:32
living challenge right okay it's the
24:33
detox living challenge and it's free on
24:35
the website at thedetoxnow.com
24:37
and it specifically is about three daily
24:40
steps
24:41
to detox your thinking and your eating
24:44
because those two
24:45
those are two of the most powerful
24:47
sources of stress
24:48
okay because what we think about
24:51
determines how we're feeling emotionally
24:53
right
24:54
what is it t is thoughts emotions and
24:56
actions
24:57
is a whole acronym and i'll toss it over
25:00
to takisha to break that down
25:02
but we have affirmations in it
25:03
specifically and it's really about
25:05
changing your morning routine
25:07
okay and it's very simple because people
25:08
say well i want to start eating healthy
25:10
i was like
25:10
just change this one meal it's the one
25:12
meal a morning of first meal of the day
25:15
it's a very simple thing to do and you
25:16
can switch it up it's very easy it's a
25:18
detox living protein
25:20
smoothie or cereal bowl and it's your
25:22
ginger tea in the morning
25:24
with these affirmations so those three
25:26
daily steps
25:27
and when i tell you the testimonies that
25:29
i've received from that
25:31
kelly have been so phenomenal like oh my
25:33
god i'm on the next step now i'm doing
25:34
one of your detoxes
25:36
or now i'm i've seen that oh my goodness
25:38
my cycle has changed
25:39
i'm feeling better about myself why
25:42
because you just
25:43
dedicated that time those three simple
25:46
steps
25:47
to to help you now care for yourself in
25:50
a very
25:51
very very manageable simple way right
25:54
and when i what i love with that is
25:56
because what we eat
25:57
remember the it can cause inflammation
25:59
of our neurotransmitters it affects our
26:01
moods
26:02
so those two things the food affects
26:04
your mood then your mood affects the
26:05
food
26:07
the way you eat yeah that's why it's
26:10
important to change your thinking
26:12
as well as your eating but in manageable
26:14
ways and if i could offer that because
26:16
the breathing is very important i i
26:19
highly recommend as
26:20
that's a major tip because one of the
26:23
things
26:24
i say to all of my clients is that we
26:27
have to learn to live from a place of
26:29
rest
26:30
and living to learn from a place of rest
26:33
means
26:34
i am enough i am fearfully and
26:36
wonderfully made and i'm created amazing
26:39
and i remember we've been carrying this
26:41
whole thing that
26:43
we're not enough because we're trying to
26:45
prove that we're enough on the job we're
26:46
trying to prove that we're enough
26:48
all the time in our you know in the in
26:50
the in the
26:51
the the definitions of beauty that are
26:53
out there and and
26:54
everywhere we turn it's like we have to
26:57
prove that we're enough so what happens
26:59
when you're trying to prove that you're
27:00
enough all the time
27:01
you actually start to feel that you have
27:03
to prove it even to yourself
27:05
right so there's a there's a negative
27:07
feedback that happens there
27:08
even if you have a very positive view of
27:11
yourself the very fact
27:12
that you're engaged in proving that you
27:15
are enough
27:16
it affects it it internalizes now it's
27:19
toxic
27:19
and in internalizing a a resentment and
27:22
a self
27:23
a self-loathing that you may not even be
27:25
aware of
27:26
right so we have to turn around turn
27:28
that around and now
27:30
affirm who we are affirm who we are over
27:33
and over
27:34
and love on ourselves to understand that
27:36
you know what my rest is in the fact
27:38
that
27:38
i am everything i need to be i am enough
27:41
i am growing every day
27:42
i'm improving every day i'm i'm working
27:45
on myself but i don't need
27:47
to do anything more to be worthy of love
27:50
to be worthy of acceptance if i had
27:53
i'm gonna use my fingers right i'm over
27:56
here like
27:56
get it we
28:00
love that was beautiful and it all
28:02
starts with love because
28:04
this journey is an everyday a heart
28:06
journey yeah
28:07
yeah it starts with your heart it starts
28:09
with love in the heart
28:10
uh what what can we expect on the
28:13
horizon because
28:14
i know that february is not just the
28:16
only month that you all are going to be
28:17
doing things
28:18
what's down the line look with when the
28:20
world opens up what is going on with the
28:22
release the pressure
28:23
the detox now.com what will we look
28:26
forward to
28:28
well release the pressure campaign is
28:29
moving into year two of year of the
28:31
three-year strategy
28:32
okay and for year two we're talking to
28:35
corporations
28:36
we're coming to companies and we're
28:37
coming to cities and we're asking these
28:39
corporations
28:40
to think about how they can work to
28:42
release the pressure on their black
28:44
women their black employees
28:45
how they can use worksite wellness to
28:48
support
28:49
health life vitality within the black
28:52
community and within their black uh
28:54
within for their black employees
28:55
and so we will be having any um an
28:58
employee resource
28:59
group summit by invitation to support
29:02
these organizations to think about
29:04
how can we put accountability into an
29:07
index that is visible for everyone to
29:09
see
29:09
that these companies are not just
29:11
talking racial equity or they're not
29:12
just talking about health
29:14
but they're actually operationalizing
29:16
strategies that are designed by and with
29:18
the input the influence and the
29:20
information from their black employees
29:23
so we are going to be doing that summit
29:25
our first summit around that work
29:27
in march and not only are we doing that
29:30
in march but
29:31
march is also women's history month so
29:33
we are going to be focusing on women
29:35
makers and so we're going to be looking
29:38
to interact with women creatives
29:41
around art that supports and inspires
29:43
wellness
29:44
in the black community and will really
29:46
be working to give back to black artists
29:48
and encourage black artists to continue
29:50
to be makers make
29:51
beautiful visual fine art one of the
29:54
artists that was on our panel for the
29:55
national virtual vision board party is
29:57
krista david
29:58
and she has this mantra that fine art is
30:01
for everyone
30:02
and she creates art and she creates
30:04
collages and all kinds of beautiful
30:06
paintings
30:07
and she puts forth this message that yes
30:09
even though she transitioned her life
30:11
from being a public health
30:12
epidemiologist
30:13
to being an artist she says that at any
30:16
point in your life that you want to
30:17
dive into being a creative dive and to
30:20
be an artist you can
30:21
as a collector as one who's a maker as
30:24
one who is a part of the community
30:25
and so this month of women history month
30:29
we're
30:29
going to be coining it as women making
30:32
history
30:33
and we're going to be engaging artists
30:35
to do this work and we'll be working
30:36
with coach jesse
30:37
as she talks more about wellness in the
30:40
corporate landscape
30:41
and how can people stay up for updates
30:44
where can people go for
30:45
to keep be updated on everything that
30:47
you all are doing
30:48
oh ah release the pressure.org
30:51
everything is there
30:52
follow us on rt pressure on ig
30:55
or facebook and come to the release of
30:57

30:58

31:30
to be more informed around heart health
31:32
and live a healthier life
31:34
beautiful coach jesse the
31:37
detox now.com what's up
31:41
i've already made myself an official
31:43
member of the religious campaign they
31:45
already know that right
31:47
so the other thing i think is awesome is
31:49
if you are part of erg
31:51
and you know i want you to know that you
31:54
can require more accountability more
31:56
care like
31:57
i love that whole campaign because we
32:00
are
32:01
suffering in the workplace and providing
32:04
that
32:05
that opportunity to say lo look we need
32:08
to create another lens
32:09
yes there is about the racial equity and
32:13
and every attacking that but what does
32:14
that look like in terms of caring for
32:16
the person
32:16
and them helping creating an environment
32:18
where wellness is actually
32:20
um put forth so so we actually have
32:23
great big news at the detox now
32:25
and i realize i haven't actually made
32:28
this announcement in the media yet so i
32:30
guess kelly you get the scoop
32:31
okay we're all here for it
32:35
which is that actually we just
32:36
relaunched the website with a new
32:38
partnership
32:39
um last time i was there i was there
32:41
with two doctors and
32:43
my partnership now going forward is
32:45
actually with dr
32:46
amun who is one of the doctors there we
32:48
partnered
32:49
specifically exclusively and relaunched
32:51
together because
32:52
you know we were really um impacted by
32:55
this pandemic this triple pandemic and
32:57
we
32:58
you know our hearts we've been seeing
32:59
these amazing testimonies i mean it's
33:01
been there's one
33:02
a woman who eliminated a seven plus
33:04
centimeter fiber during quarantine
33:06
on our program which like the slabs of a
33:08
large apple that was phenomenal right
33:10
and
33:10
a lot of babies born it was just
33:12
fantastic
33:14
um but the biggest thing for us is we
33:16
were we're dealing with
33:17
women in an economic crisis women
33:19
dealing with the systemic racism
33:21
women dealing with the health health
33:23
pandemic and we wanted to
33:25
a we wanted to improve the products
33:28
improve
33:28
improve our detoxes which is still which
33:31
was so amazing
33:32
and we wanted to make the luxu the
33:34
prices a luxury experience
33:36
at an everyday price and we just felt
33:39
like you know we're so passionate about
33:40
this we're just going to do this
33:41
together
33:42
so we literally revamped everything we
33:45
created
33:46
um we improved our formulas dr amun is
33:49
an herbalist he's a naturopathic doctor
33:50
he reformulated
33:52
all of our formulas and to make them
33:54
better because we were like
33:55
it's great that we've had success but we
33:56
want to make them better right and we
33:58
want to make them affordable
33:59
at the same time because usually when
34:01
you make the better you make them more
34:02
expensive we're like no we want to make
34:03
them better and we want to make it more
34:05
affordable we streamline processes
34:07
and you know it's funny because you
34:09
mentioned ashanti who's
34:10
phenomenal she literally she you know
34:13
envy got me on
34:14
he's like look ashanti needs you
34:17
yes i need something he said she's been
34:19
celebrating her birthday a little too
34:20
long
34:21
[Laughter]
34:24
and it was before she got coded and was
34:27
preparing for verses
34:29
as time would have it you know we
34:30
connected like right before then
34:32
and she was so like committed to
34:35
wellness she was like i just want to get
34:37
well
34:37
you know i just want to be healthy
34:39
really really healthy and she was like
34:41
carrying her cereal with you know
34:43
because she did she did that
34:44
detox um protein bowl that's a cereal
34:47
which is my favorite thing i eat it
34:48
every day i promise y'all it's in the
34:50
free detox
34:51
you will love it she took it with her
34:53
like wherever she was going
34:55
right and she was like this is so easy
34:57
and delicious
34:58
and um what was funny about it is we saw
35:01
that
35:02
you know when we look at how easy when
35:05
it when people who are so busy and
35:06
celebrities whatever are doing i'm like
35:08
you can do this if they can walk around
35:11
with this
35:12
and value their health above this i'm
35:13
telling you you can do this angela's
35:16
about to start her detox now she's like
35:18
she's doing it with another um a
35:20
producer who she just lost eight pounds
35:22
and like
35:23
like she hasn't even finished it she's
35:25
like this is
35:26
this is real this really works and it's
35:29
the weight isn't is about inflammation
35:30
that's what i tell people
35:32
it's not just about you losing weight
35:33
it's about inflammation and toxicity
35:36
so that's the big news over there we
35:39
we're
35:39
actually launching a um our first
35:42
prenatal supplement
35:43
which we are so excited about it is
35:46
coming with a free meal plan and of
35:48
course we have our our balance system
35:50
which is to help women to
35:51
eliminate um to heal and reverse and
35:54
prevent fibroids endometriosis cysts
35:57
as well as infertility and and it's been
36:00
just an
36:01
honor honor to have them pursue to
36:04
to regulate their blood pressure so
36:05
we're going to get you we're going to
36:06
get you our new heart formula
36:08
we're literally coming out it's coming
36:10
out in
36:11
like in a few weeks by the time this
36:13
airs i'm sure it'll be out but i'm gonna
36:15
you're gonna get your own bottle and
36:17
your meal plan
36:18
i love it i love it about that oh yeah
36:21
it's all about life and love you know
36:23
and i i think this is great
36:24
congratulations
36:26
to both of you all it's such exciting
36:28
news and i look forward to
36:29
hearing more and more about release the
36:32
pressure campaign
36:33
about things that you're doing to keisha
36:35
white because this is just a consultant
36:36
so i know that that means you got other
36:38
things going on too
36:40
and yes the the detox now
36:43
for people who want more information all
36:45
they have to do
36:46
is just go to thedetoxnow.com um
36:50
and get more information because you
36:52
break it down
36:53
yeah the other thing is i i want people
36:55
to know that they have their support
36:56
like there's we have three weekly group
36:58
consoles for people like well i don't
36:59
have any
37:00
well we have a free consult every every
37:02
week
37:03
we have a group consult that happens via
37:05
zoom you can have your case reviewed and
37:07
our team will look
37:08
at it our our administrator looks at it
37:10
and goes through everything with you
37:11
and says what we recommend based on your
37:13
budget so you say look i need to start
37:15
with free
37:15
okay this is what you're going to start
37:16
with all right two look i need
37:19
an emergency intervention right now okay
37:21
this is what you're going to start with
37:23
right and then we have private consults
37:25
you can book with me you could be
37:26
look me or you can book um dr armouring
37:28
and we have a literally a resource page
37:30
that is just free stuff
37:31
yeah because if you want people to know
37:34
there is nothing
37:35
you know your health there's nothing
37:37
more valuable because without it
37:39
you can't fulfill your purpose here on
37:41
this earth enough said
37:42
there's nothing else to say you know
37:45
well thank you ladies
37:46
and gentlemen please coach yes
37:55
