Exclusive: Uncle Waffles Talks New Single & Success | SWAY'S UNIVERSE

0:00
also discovered um a movement that was
0:02
happening of DJs in particular DJs who
0:06
happen to be women from other places who
0:09
were just changing the the spectrum of
0:12
how we DJ how we entertain when we DJ
0:16
what what it is that we play when we DJ
0:18
and our next guest uh to me was one of
0:21
those first people that I discovered
0:22
that was spearheading the Amy piano
0:25
movement through her DJ skills and I
0:27
learned that she found she learned how
0:29
to D only a few years ago but in those
0:32
few years let me tell you what she has
0:34
managed to accomplish Mike Ms go GQ men
0:37
of the Year Awards South South Africa
0:39
Woman of the Year winner 2023 BET Awards
0:42
best International act nominee uh Hades
0:45
Awards best Southern African artist
0:47
artist of the year nominee Let's Go
0:50
Mobile Awards best African act nominee
0:53
the New York Times best albums of
0:56
2023 ladies and gentlemen man you all
0:58
you had to do is give her a finger and
1:00
she made it into a arm now it's a
1:03
complete body and I'm proud and honored
1:05
to have her on this show today I watch
1:06
her all the time online I can see her in
1:08
person she's stunning and devastating
1:10
give it up for the one and only DJ Uncle
1:13
waffles is Uncle waffles is up in
1:17
here princess
1:19
hey come on how are you I'm good thanks
1:23
how are you excellent excellent when you
1:25
hear all those
1:26
accolades this isn't why you got into it
1:28
right no oh right what how did you get
1:31
into DJ um I initially just wanted to
1:33
learn and understand it and then I think
1:36
as you know as you spend like 8 hours a
1:38
day practicing something you fall in
1:39
love with something you didn't know you
1:40
could love I always knew I want to do
1:42
something creative but I didn't know
1:44
where my path was taking me so during Co
1:47
unfortunately I couldn't go to school
1:48
anymore so I started learning how to DJ
1:51
and then I put out a poster hoping that
1:53
okay just one gig just to see and then
1:55
from there I just have never stopped and
1:57
I knew that this is what I wanted to do
1:59
really she got the bug yo you're just
2:02
like Jazzy Jeff you know I'm going name
2:04
some legendary people you're just like
2:06
DJ K her is you know the one who started
2:09
this all this hip-hop culture for us
2:10
everybody goes through that moment uh
2:12
where they catch that bug but it didn't
2:14
start with DJ and for you right no it
2:16
didn't okay that's the part I want to
2:18
hear about okay okay so um initially I
2:22
wanted to act so I always told myself I
2:24
wanted to do acting I started business
2:26
management and everything but I didn't
2:28
continue because I didn't feel like it
2:30
was for me um being in a creative space
2:33
when you don't feel like creative people
2:36
truly make it in your parents' eyes it
2:38
was always hard cuz it's like you're
2:39
telling them okay I want to go and act
2:41
they're like act act well what do you
2:43
mean act what are you going to do with
2:45
acting they didn't believe it was
2:46
possible but I knew that it was possible
2:48
for me because I truly just believe that
2:50
Grace will follow me Grace will follow
2:53
me [ __ ] damn she dropping gems right
2:55
here Uncle waffles um I know you get
2:58
this question all the time
3:01
tell me your name tell me about your
3:02
name okay okay so Uncle waffles comes
3:05
from uh Teen Titans waffle song Nobody
3:08
Team Titans you know that Kanani yeah I
3:12
know that yes sing a song waffles
3:14
waffles waffles right yeah yes so my
3:17
friends in high school decided that I
3:19
should be waffles and then um when I got
3:21
Instagram After High School they were
3:22
like this Uncle thing sounds so cool
3:24
right now just be uncle waffles and then
3:27
I I was like okay cool that's fine uhhuh
3:29
manager decided to use that as my actual
3:32
DJ name when I wanted to just go as
3:34
waffles cuz I was like I don't know how
3:35
people feel about the uncle but it's
3:37
actually made it me so unique every time
3:39
people meet me they're like to my to my
3:41
manager are you the Mr Waffles then he's
3:44
like no that's the uncle right there
3:47
yeah wow so you're an uncle all right
3:50
Uncle waffles I like that I love it
3:52
because I feel like it also lends to how
3:54
many surprises come with you how many
3:57
layers because it's not just DJ
4:00
you're such a dynamic woman you're also
4:03
a Visionary um a creative director as we
4:07
see in this new music video as you can
4:09
see and even the way that you approach
4:11
your live shows like the Showmanship of
4:14
it all the dancing where did
4:17
specifically when it comes to the
4:18
dancing where did that start um I was
4:21
always a kid that opened circles so we
4:23
have something where you know you're
4:24
hanging out with your family and there's
4:25
a kid that's going to dance and they
4:26
throw money at you you know your members
4:29
your family yes so I was always that kid
4:31
so when I started DJing I initially
4:32
didn't dance because I didn't think
4:34
people would receive it well already I'm
4:36
a female now you want to
4:38
dance like hypersexualize you yes I just
4:41
felt like it would make me make another
4:44
thing that people can point out because
4:45
already people are saying you can't play
4:46
you can't do this as a female even if
4:48
you're doing the exact same thing that
4:49
males are doing it's always because
4:51
you're a female you're probably not
4:52
actually doing it so I started doing it
4:54
at small shows you know interact with
4:56
people you know do a little something I
4:57
realized that people actually liked it
5:00
so I started doing a little bit more and
5:02
then my viral video that was the first
5:04
time I'd ever danced that seriously uh
5:06
no one was paying attention to me I
5:07
wasn't supposed to be playing that slot
5:09
I got that slot very luckily I was
5:11
supposed to play like 5 hours earlier so
5:13
when I got that slot I was like okay I'm
5:15
going to try make this the moment for me
5:18
so I got up on the step behind me no one
5:21
was watching me and I started dancing I
5:23
would play and I would dance then slowly
5:25
people started turning around to watch
5:27
me and then from that a 30 second CLI
5:29
changed my life that changed your life
5:31
did you hear that that is that a great
5:33
story that is a 30 second clip yeah cuz
5:36
we all saw it I've been talking about
5:39
that a lot lately in particular of
5:40
acting U there's this actor here Jessica
5:42
Chastain and this year at the SAG Awards
5:44
they played her clip from her last year
5:46
in Her speech she was encouraging fellow
5:49
actors emerging actors and she said be
5:52
mindful and always be ready because your
5:54
life can change in an instant and so
5:56
I've always been thinking about that and
5:57
so for you to sayate that like in 30
5:59
seconds seconds your life has changed in
6:01
an instant and it would never be the
6:02
same ever yeah like when we think back
6:05
to it when we discuss the clip we were
6:06
all like okay it's going to get 100K
6:08
views and then cuz I was doing free
6:09
shows at that point so I went from free
6:12
shows to being in Ghana the next
6:14
week the next
6:17
week oh I love I love stories like this
6:20
um but you you also you did
6:22
correspondent um or presenter work yes I
6:24
did uh for Studio One yes I did okay now
6:27
you did a lot of research d fan for a
6:30
minute what are you talking about we've
6:32
been manifesting this I got a lot of
6:34
friends over there too C my man C who's
6:36
a a preser he worked with MTV I worked
6:39
with MTV for so many years so um n but
6:42
I've been up on it so tell me about that
6:43
that side of your life um so I got that
6:46
through a newspaper ad they
6:49
like Wow Let's get to it they were like
6:52
okay come in for auditions um it was a
6:54
small studio in someone's house it was
6:56
also someone we just believed in because
6:57
his vision was great so was like okay
7:00
come in um audition so I auditioned and
7:02
I got the parts uh we filmed maybe 40 50
7:06
shows that and then we're trying to find
7:08
stations that would play it after that
7:10
so we're doing everything Pro brono just
7:12
in hopes that it would reach somewhere
7:14
so it finally reached the little place
7:15
and then yeah I couldn't really continue
7:18
with them cuz my life didn't change your
7:20
life didn't change in 30 seconds how has
7:23
this success changed your family's life
7:26
um so I used to always pray that my mom
7:29
would get help help not knowing that I'm
7:31
praying that God would make me the one
7:33
to help her wow you've been able to help
7:35
out your mom yes I have like and now the
7:38
things that we lacked we no longer
7:41
lack Uncle waffles y'all having waffles
7:44
every weekend now too I'm sure breakfast
7:46
ain't a problem in your
7:48
household um when I went to South Africa
7:51
years ago I start hearing about Amy
7:53
piano yes right and so this isn't
7:56
something new no it is but it's probably
7:58
new to the new to the world um what can
8:01
you tell us about this genre who are
8:03
some of the players key players that
8:05
influenced you and and how did you start
8:08
playing it specifically so Pi genre that
8:11
everyone knows that is from Soto but
8:13
it's also from Alex as well the original
8:15
place is Alex so it is just a producer
8:18
so a producer came up with the beat and
8:20
then they started playing it in the
8:21
streets right so it became a street
8:23
genre a nce genre up until Co it was a n
8:27
genre you were hearing it only here in
8:29
when you actually go out to places
8:30
otherwise nobody really had music out
8:32
and then we had people like GBS um do
8:35
AKA trp we had mapisa we had sty all
8:39
those people playing the music
8:41
commercially now they started creating
8:43
music more commercially then now we
8:45
start getting to know it now you're
8:46
starting to get the music you're playing
8:47
it's still quite Niche it's playing in
8:50
small places and then lockdown happens
8:53
yeah then people start taking the music
8:55
and they start dancing M so now piano is
8:58
dance it's dance that's how everyone
9:00
encountered it I'm sure that's how
9:01
everyone encounted it here through
9:02
people dancing yeah that's really how it
9:05
started and then Co took it to another
9:07
level now you only hear piano yeah yeah
9:09
so you say piano you could say just
9:11
piano or so I'm a piano we shortened it
9:14
as piano oh good yeah y you be
9:18
overthinking that first part right I was
9:20
destroying it for so many years like oh
9:22
please I could do
9:24
piano I could do piano this is amazing
9:27
though how much it's grown right
9:30
and where it's from you know and what
9:32
we're seeing on the continent as a whole
9:34
a lot of people you think they in the
9:37
states I'm from a place called Oakland
9:39
right Northern California okay and then
9:41
you got la which is Southern California
9:43
right six-h hour drive but most people
9:46
think yeah see look at your face right
9:48
they think it's together people think
9:50
it's all the same and a lot of folks
9:52
outside of the continent think that of
9:55
Africa yes they group it all together
9:58
right but it's
10:00
how many countries in Africa colani 54
10:03
50 anybody y'all from Africa how many
10:05
countries in
10:06
Africa oh no
10:09
man the blank faces in the studio a lot
10:13
the answer is a lot we got a professor
10:14
from fit I'm to Google it I think it's
10:17
it's it's 54 56 something like that
10:20
right in the 50s in the 50s but what I
10:22
learned is that it's just so diverse yes
10:25
it is right uh Ghana is nothing like see
10:29
I was ignorant I was going to uh
10:31
different places of Africa and asking
10:33
them do they know artists in South
10:34
Africa and they didn't know the artist
10:37
yes and so that's when I started doing a
10:40
deeper dive and realizing how to erase
10:42
myself of the ignorance so you wanted to
10:45
specify Soo you brought up Soo yes and
10:49
where else in Alex Alexandre how far are
10:52
they apart and how different are they
10:54
they're not that far apart I think
10:55
they're about 20 30 minutes apart okay
10:57
but they're very different uhhuh
10:59
different the people that they raise are
11:01
different it's also just places that
11:03
came up during apath so segregated areas
11:05
you know so it's impoverished areas so
11:07
the PE the producers are people black
11:10
people yeah who are in not the greatest
11:12
of situations who came up with something
11:14
so amazing I love it man that's kind of
11:16
like what we did with hip-hop exactly
11:19
and within hip hop right now there's so
11:21
many conversations
11:22
around what constitutes someone being a
11:25
culture vulture right can someone who's
11:28
black American
11:30
appropriate appropriate another culture
11:33
within the
11:34
diaspora if someone because of how big
11:38
afro beats and piano is becoming what
11:41
would you say waffles is the best way if
11:43
there is a black American Artist or just
11:46
a black artist who is not from those
11:50
locations how can
11:52
they contribute collaborate with this
11:56
music while also respecting it
11:59
I think the best thing is collaboration
12:01
I know a lot of Biana artists including
12:03
me are looking to collaborate we really
12:05
want to help take the sound
12:06
internationally and we know that the
12:07
first doorway is through specifically
12:10
collaborating with AIT to bigger so we
12:13
are always willing to collaborate um yes
12:15
people are releasing piano we are happy
12:16
that the genre is meeting people you
12:18
know it's reaching people but
12:19
collaboration would be even more amazing
12:21
for us oh okay so people are open to it
12:24
Kanani you was in Africa not too long
12:26
ago what part peace Uncle waffles yes I
12:28
was in a I was in South Africa a couple
12:30
years ago I was in Durban and actually I
12:33
met uh DJ osito when I was in Durban
12:37
that's when I first got introduced to
12:38
I'm a piano um and when you talk about
12:41
collaborations Tracy there people are
12:45
very open that are doers in the genre
12:47
cuz I I went into the studio with DJ
12:49
osito and he was like very open to me
12:52
getting on the tracks and Ryman and
12:54
different producers that were around um
12:56
but I had a question for you so for
12:58
someone that doesn't know what would be
13:00
like the the main difference between
13:02
afro beast and amap piano oh it's
13:05
completely difference in a lot of Senses
13:07
the BPM is completely different um and
13:09
also afro beats is specifically a
13:12
western African genre Amano is Southern
13:15
African genre yes yes the dancing seems
13:18
very similar but it's also still very
13:20
very different so amapiano is taken from
13:23
gu house and producers added something
13:25
we call a lock drum mhm so the lock drum
13:28
is the specific thing that you hear in
13:29
all the songs that heavy that's a bit
13:31
different that makes I'm a piano piano
13:34
that is the biggest main difference also
13:36
the fast pace yeah biana's a bit slow
13:38
which is why we have a barrier of people
13:41
dancing you guys people can't get the
13:43
Rhythm yet that's why people are
13:45
struggling with which one is the beat
13:46
I'm supposed to dance on there's so many
13:48
beats yeah I got it yeah yeah yeah show
13:51
us
13:52
okay this your interview it's your
13:56
interview uh oh let's see it
13:59
hey come on come on you dance
14:01
[Music]
14:03
swi uh oh uh oh she's getting up from
14:05
her seat tutoral time you got it
14:11
Callaway hey hey hey heyyy hey am I
14:19
[Music]
14:22
going stop stop Uncle waffle stop st
14:26
stop Uncle waffle stop we're forcing me
14:28
to do this
14:31
great job sway ah whatever man thank you
14:33
Mike uh what has this that 30 seconds is
14:37
a mother boy I tell you right um how
14:40
have you you know you you you're unknown
14:44
one day then you're famous the next what
14:46
have you learned about I ask a lot of
14:48
people this question what have you
14:49
learned about fame um I've learned that
14:53
you don't know vulnerability till you're
14:56
popular you don't know true
14:58
vulnerability until you're popular so
15:00
you go from being someone who can blend
15:01
into the world to someone who is an a
15:04
sore literally just a sore um they pick
15:07
at everything everything you put out
15:10
there you are taking off your skin and
15:13
saying okay it's okay judge it literally
15:16
yeah so that's the biggest thing I've
15:18
learned that damn wow you need to have
15:21
really tough skin yeah really really
15:23
tough skin how did you how do you build
15:26
that skin like do you do you medit do
15:29
you pray what do pray pray in general I
15:32
I'm I've kept that praying no matter how
15:35
hard it feels always pray God is there
15:37
he was there when that moment happened
15:39
that moment didn't happen by mistake he
15:41
wouldn't put you there and leave you MH
15:43
so I always pray and also having a team
15:46
that allows you to come to the real
15:47
world yeah yeah so make sure also don't
15:50
stay on your phone that's something
15:51
that's get off the phone don't read the
15:54
comments right no don't read the
15:55
comments just if you love it put it out
15:57
there if they don't like it it's fine
15:59
you like it and that's more than enough
16:00
reason as long as you like it that's
16:02
perfectly fine amen so yeah that's the
16:04
biggest thing like that's the best way
16:06
to build tough skin pray have a team
16:09
that actually cares about you people who
16:11
will be there to cordel you when you cry
16:13
even though sometimes you want to cry
16:14
for no reason yeah that's I Love It
16:17
uncle waffles is here um who did before
16:20
you started dancing did you see someone
16:22
else dancing yes who were some of those
16:25
folks you saw dancing so uh one of the
16:27
first few females I saw was the goo and
16:29
then I saw txc those are people who were
16:32
really pushing the boundaries they were
16:33
one of the only two girls who were out
16:35
there amongst the males within piano so
16:37
yes I did see them dancing they were not
16:39
dancing as seriously as I ended up
16:41
dancing they were just dancing and the
16:43
videos were doing really well and I was
16:44
like very inspired by it that they
16:46
really managed to go to the world with B
16:49
which is the first thing first time
16:50
we've ever seen anything like that where
16:52
female artists are popular like that and
16:56
DJs yeah and what I like about it is I
17:00
mean guys could dance too but it ain't
17:02
going to be the same
17:04
no right it's not going to be the same
17:06
and Waffles is doing like full out
17:08
choreography it's not just her alone on
17:11
stage there's maybe like 20 maybe
17:14
sometimes 30 what is the preparation
17:16
like for you before you have a series of
17:19
shows and are you also choreographing
17:21
how are you finding all of these dancers
17:23
like what is the whole setup beforehand
17:26
so when we decided to start doing Bigger
17:28
Productions we always always wanted to
17:29
give people opportunities biano is about
17:31
done so we wanted to make sure that
17:33
we're giving people opportunities so we
17:35
do auditions we do open call Auditions
17:38
yes if anyone If You Can Dance come
17:41
through so yeah we do auditions and then
17:43
I luckily have a choreographer called
17:45
lii who helps me so much his vision is
17:48
absolutely beautiful his vision is in
17:50
the music video yes he helped me bring
17:52
that to life so yeah that's the main
17:54
things we do and then my practice is
17:56
when I leave here and I go back home and
17:59
straight to practicing you practice
18:01
DJing in choreography
18:04
yes yes you have to prepare set because
18:06
so many things can happen yeah you have
18:08
to make sure you're 30 prepared
18:10
especially now if you have 10 people on
18:11
stage yeah you have to be very prepared
18:13
are you able to share an example of
18:15
something going arai while on stage and
18:17
how you were able to put it back on the
18:20
right track um many things as a female
18:23
I've had someone pull off my
18:25
wig oh God the travesty of it all
18:30
why you're dejing yes you know on
18:32
purpose okay no people get excited so
18:35
okay if you want the best
18:37
V we got to let that breathe for a
18:40
second I F out of my scalp oh my God
18:44
what Tracy scream like somebody was
18:48
murdered this can't be true but it is
18:51
please share all right go ahead so
18:53
people get excited it's okay some people
18:56
get a little excited more than others so
18:57
she she comes to me yeah as I'm playing
19:01
to hug me as she hugs she hugs from the
19:03
back and I've been sweating cuz I I am
19:06
dancing I'm doing so much and my Weg
19:10
got luckily my reflexes were like crazy
19:13
I
19:14
went put it back
19:17
on and I just acted like nothing
19:19
happened whether it was straight it was
19:21
what it's okay like it was meant to
19:23
happen this is part of the show and move
19:25
on what can I do cuz luckily nobody took
19:27
a video luckily respected me yeah
19:30
otherwise that was going to be cuz now
19:32
there's like a line of just so many
19:36
things give that a round of applause got
19:39
those Matrix reflexes I
19:43
like um you're so talented and and
19:46
inspired you know and you went from
19:48
DJing to now you produc as well right
19:51
and so when did you get the producers
19:52
bug what the and what do you produce
19:55
with what what programs do you use so we
19:57
use uh FR Loops okay all right Fruity
20:00
Loops good old Fruity Loops boy they
20:03
done made a lot of people Stars boy cuz
20:06
I'm still very much still perfecting it
20:09
I still need a lot of help I'm still
20:11
trying to get to a place where I'm fully
20:12
comfortable that's why it took me so
20:13
long to release music because I really
20:15
wanted to be sure yeah cuz already
20:19
people were saying if you don't release
20:20
music we're going to forget you see
20:22
people wow yes yeah people okay yeah so
20:28
it took me a long long time to get to a
20:29
place where I was comfortable enough to
20:30
release my first single and when I
20:32
finally did I mean it's like eight times
20:34
Platinum right now come on now hone
20:36
times Platinum now col you know what
20:39
that means what that means eight times
20:41
Platinum how much is that diamond wait
20:43
Wait Almost that's almost Diamond two
20:47
yeah 10 million is diamond right 8
20:50
million eight times
20:52
Platinum do you have those those moments
20:55
where you look in the mirror and go what
20:56
is going on like yep uh for a very long
21:00
time I had impostor syndrome I thought
21:01
this was happening to someone I was
21:02
watching I was waiting to wake up like
21:05
what's the catch here yeah what is going
21:07
to happen am I going to wake up and this
21:08
all a dream because that'll be very very
21:11
unfortunate yeah so now I'm better now
21:15
I'm I'm more accepting of What's Happen
21:16
he manifested this man Uncle waffles is
21:19
here I was uh we've been really I know
21:21
we tried to schedule it earlier and we
21:23
weren't able to do it but we're really
21:24
happy for you sincerely you are yeah you
21:27
at a Forefront of a mov movement um
21:29
you're educating people as you go along
21:31
which I think is extremely important
21:33
you're putting it all in context uh
21:35
you're bringing things you're a bridge
21:37
thank you you know you were over there
21:39
now you're over here so you also are a
21:41
bridge when it comes to our cultures and
21:43
I'm curious what's next for you what is
21:45
your vision what do you see um so I'm
21:48
doing the Brooklyn Mirage so I'm doing
21:50
my
21:51
first yeah like you ready for that
21:54
that's
21:55
it I'm doing the Brooklyn Mirage on the
21:57
18th of August okay um my first okay so
22:00
I did it last year but I did the smaller
22:02
venue so I did the 3,000 people this
22:04
year I'm doing the 5,000 so wow yeah
22:06
it's a big risk but it's very important
22:08
for DJs to take those drives and it's
22:09
very important for Biana to take those
22:11
drives so we can show people that we can
22:12
sell our shows on our own we can be
22:14
Headliners so yeah my priority this year
22:16
is to prove to people that I'm a piano
22:19
doesn't mean someone you just add on
22:21
your festival lineup on your lineup it's
22:23
people who can hitline people who can
22:26
curate a performance you know so
22:28
hopefully the next couple of years you
22:29
know I'm headlining Coachella
22:33
some I that ass I see it what y'all she
22:38
need to what's that what did that I also
22:40
Joey Badass oh is that what that says
22:43
yeah okay they got Q cards in the back
22:45
so I'm reading her Q card shout out to
22:48
the team Jo proera we were just talking
22:50
about Joey Badass today yes so uh I have
22:53
a joey B song coming
22:55
out have social we have it
23:00
here do is it out yet no when is it
23:03
coming out um so we're still planning it
23:06
you know I ruin it for you if you want
23:07
me
23:08
to let me know it's still in the works
23:12
but yeah that's my first super big
23:14
feature wow and also it's another thing
23:15
I really want to do this year more
23:17
features yeah so the day hasper can get
23:20
to experience biano in the way that they
23:22
understand as well because piano can
23:25
have any sort of genre within it so it
23:27
can have any sort of artist M yeah I'm
23:29
looking forward to that I have a
23:30
question when you are um it's
23:33
interesting kind of where we landed
23:34
right now right and I'm sure when you're
23:35
at cotella in the future um and book and
23:38
Mirage coming up in August
23:40
congratulations to you on that one I'm
23:41
sure you'll be playing um omop piano yes
23:45
but I'm curious though when you're back
23:46
at home um do you only play on the piano
23:51
or do is lifestyle culture in South
23:55
Africa interested in hearing other
23:57
genres oh yes there's a people are
23:59
interested in hearing everything so but
24:02
usually I play piano I'm predominantly
24:04
piano when people book me they book me
24:05
specifically for piano because that is
24:07
what they see on my social media and my
24:08
music but people doing a company piano
24:13
with do you guys
24:16
know so is like a Durban genre it's very
24:21
high piece you guys have never heard of
24:23
DJ lag yeah I have no DJ I haven't you
24:26
haven't but I was in Durban though
24:29
you also you
24:31
probably is like their number one genre
24:35
so most Pi artists will put in some gum
24:37
here and there just to keep people up
24:39
pace you know how do you spell it G G Q
24:44
wow oh that's why I
24:47
asked never like that so this is
24:50
interesting I was asking about other
24:52
jras but you specifically keep going
24:53
more to homebased in like South African
24:56
genres are they interested in hearing
24:59
American hip hop I think interested in
25:00
hearing American poop um it's not a
25:02
night out if we don't have all genres M
25:05
so the only thing we don't really have
25:06
enough of which I feel like we should
25:07
have enough of is dance
25:11
hall yeah we hear hip hop R&B all the
25:14
likes just no dance all what those piano
25:17
parties be like wow yeah okay so imagine
25:21
the best night out you could possibly
25:23
have that's like an every day every day
25:25
yes there's someone that's going to have
25:27
exactly that every single day of the
25:28
week is it like a a getaway for folks
25:31
and Escape um I think people genuinely
25:35
just love having fun like genuinely like
25:39
genuinely when I go home I won't come
25:41
back okay they say I'm touring if I'm
25:43
going home I need to at least go to one
25:45
night out yeah yeah like that's how good
25:47
it is cuz I was going to say is there
25:49
ever a time where you just don't have
25:52
the capacity to party to be social but
25:55
you have to perform yes um touring
25:59
artist independent artist means you Tour
26:01
on a budget and tours are quite tight so
26:05
when I'm at the last day of my tour
26:08
nothing is cute nothing is cute like
26:11
last year September we did uh our second
26:14
us run MH the entire month we probably
26:17
slipped at 13 hours MH the entire month
26:21
the entire month what kind of voluntary
26:24
servitude outfit no no no it was
26:27
definitely worth it worth it yes it's
26:29
definitely worth it I'm in the when they
26:31
plan it I'm the one who agrees okay yes
26:33
okay now you're you're um what languages
26:37
do you speak um I speak English Swati
26:40
and a bit of Africans ATI seti SE can
26:45
you speak CTI for us and say hey welcome
26:48
uh good morning all something about the
26:50
morning I don't know okay all right s
26:53
[Music]
26:59
that's beautiful translation that was
27:00
beautiful thank you for everything you
27:02
just said and we believe you said only
27:04
positive things yeah what was that you
27:05
said again what it sound great I said uh
27:08
good morning guys we're here at suway
27:10
and we're grateful oh yes and say your
27:12
name we're going to make that into a
27:13
drop and I am and I am Uncle
27:17
waffles good we got that all right we
27:19
just stole a drop from you you didn't
27:21
even know what I was doing here no
27:22
permission or
27:24
nothing well listen I want to say uh
27:27
congratulations
27:28
to you and I appreciate you thank you
27:32
coming to our show today thank you for
27:34
having me on the car absolutely
27:36
absolutely and thank you for that mix
27:38
and I think it's important that we we
27:40
have this kind of Fellowship between us
27:43
and and folks from the continent you
27:45
know continuously and you definitely are
27:48
a bridge and I I come from a long line
27:51
of incredible legendary DJs yes and I
27:57
enjoy what it is that you bring to the
27:59
Forefront like I really do so continue
28:02
success to you y'all got to come back
28:04
too all right next time I'm going to
28:07
drop a 16 you know I'm saying say what
28:10
wait a minute next time wait a minute
28:13
next time yo what's next time I can't
28:17
believe next time you know where you are
28:20
so you said that so you know where you
28:23
are next time drop a beat
28:27
on don't don't
28:31
worry do the valley the hyenas Uncle
28:39
hyenas all right I'm just getting you
28:41
ready for next time
28:44

28:47

28:49
