2:14
right right ain't that where the brat from twisted yeah twisted west side brat
2:20
from the west side where common he's southside southside yeah where Kanye
2:25
from southside southside kanye from here oh I see the difference now now you just explained to me the difference
2:33
the west side they still wear curl bags on the west side wow yeah they still doing that they still do curl wow y'all
2:41
still wearing curl bags that's crazy man y'all wear purple shorts no okay more
2:48
like Hollywood sound like Hollywood okay all right heather keep turning back looking behind
2:55
her huh chicago we big fans of the Bay Area chicago big fans of the Bay yeah we
3:00
are nah it's it's uh it's Kendrick Cities man chicago and Oakland yeah this
3:05
Kendrick Cities and we got the Black Panthers and the and the movement uh that you know the black power movement
3:12
between us don't get me started man heather always reeled me in you know I
3:17
grew up in all of that yeah nat Turner comes out at any moment here on the show yeah man i know you got it yeah Cory
3:23
it's crazy some Sometimes I lose sleep
3:29
power nap hobie yeah Tracy take us out of this what we talking about today oh we'll take Oakland in a different
3:34
direction because Corey I'm actually really happy that you're here not only to promote your film but also because
3:40
you know we've been we're still giving a standing ovation to Sinners which is an
3:46
incredible film citizens if y'all haven't gotten your asses in those theater seats yet you're late but we'll
3:53
let it pass just make sure you go and we were talking about how you know they took the crown this opening weekend ryan
3:59
Cougler this is an original thriller straight from his mind to the screen
4:04
michael B jordan like they are my favorite duo in Hollywood and so we spoke about how they collected $48
4:11
million um during their opening weekend which is incredible and another um
4:16
headline from Sinners that took place highlighted Cougler's deal with Warner Brothers that allows him to own the
4:23
copyright to Sinners 25 years after its release and another headline that's now
4:28
been coming I don't know who the hell has the authority over Variety's Twitter
4:35
account but they had put out these words sinners has amassed $61 million in its
4:42
global debut it's a great result for an original R-rated horror film yet the
4:48
Warner Brothers release has a $90 million price tag before global marketing expenses so profitability
4:55
remains a ways away again this is coming from a very reputable Yeah publication
5:04
known as Variety and so a lot of folks got at them and were like "Wait what the hell is this why would you frame a tweet
5:11
in that way as if this isn't a big deal as if they fell short as if they are
5:16
plummeting and they're heading towards failure ben Stiller shout out to Ben
5:21
Stiller ben Stiller he's He's been on the show he has not been on the show yet but I've been in the elevator with him
5:27
okay yeah how was that he was really really nice he was really nice i didn't fan out but I was just like "Oh [ __ ]
5:34
what up?" He's like "Hey how you doing?" That was it okay ben Stiller what did Ben Stiller you met Ben Steel at Cory
5:40
yeah I met him before was he cool nice to you yeah it was brief but he was really cool um yeah he's he's definitely
5:47
um he's definitely for us as well so I love that he he spoke up my man was telling me about that this morning but
5:52
uh we saw centers yesterday and I can say give it up for Ryan Cougler yeah man come on man they did their thing i think
5:59
they're one of the greatest duos you know what I'm saying like with Denzel started like with Spike you know so the
6:05
movie was probably one of the best movies I've ever seen cinematically you know coming from a black man you know
6:11
what I'm saying like we were praising that like man this is incredible we were watching every frame and I was just like
6:18
and then the performances why not praise these brothers for what they're doing instead of saying you know um you're
6:24
bringing up these headlines because they know it's it's hate it's hate to undermine what they did and that's not
6:30
that's not cool just to do that just give them their praises you know everyone's loving the film and um he got
6:36
the rights to his own movie you know those you feel like they purposely undermined it yeah because of all these
6:41
things but you you know you talk about these other artists who who've been getting rights and ownership of studios
6:47
for years but when we do it it's an issue right um yeah so give it up for Ryan and Mike ryan is like I said he's
6:54
one of my favorite directors i would love to I never met him you know what I'm saying so I say put it out there i love Ryan Cooper and Mike shout out to
7:01
Mike B jordan man he was amazing yeah man and I love hearing you give that props to a whole another actor who you
7:08
may even compete with against for parts at some point right but that doesn't make a difference not now i mean Mike's
7:14
in a world of his own now and that's my brother i've known Mike for for years you know what I'm saying but um I'm very
7:20
proud of what he's doing and um like how he's taken it to like the next next level and he's continued to show like
7:25
elevation out here so I'm proud of those brothers what are the politics the agenda to undermining a first week box
7:32
office result and why does the public need to know about the marketing
7:37
expenses the global marketing expenses and the and the the the debt to profit
7:42
ratio because I think that's like a tactic to take away from their greatness like we just didn't celebrate the
7:48
greatness it got 100 i saw on Rotten Tomatoes it's being praised everywhere I go everyone's talking about it and I was
7:54
just like I didn't want to go see it regular i like I got to go see on IMAX everywhere was sold out yeah so people
7:59
are going to see this film and it's just like they're coming out and supporting let's keep it there where the energy
8:05
should be like these brothers are making history and I love it i love to see it and just a reminder too that Variety
8:12
Magazine the way they structure a lot of their articles are around the mechanics and finances especially of film not to
8:21
say I'm on their side in the slightest but just to throw that out there and it still does not justify them leading with
8:28
that headline and so for anyone who's not aware what Corey touched on with Ben Ben Stiller he retweeted Variety not um
8:35
to cosign but to ask quote "In what universe does a $60 million opening for
8:41
an original studio movie warrant this headline facts right?" That's what Ben Stiller said patrick um Schwarzenegger
8:48
he has had the same type of sentiment as well so this is not just coming from black
8:54
people in other words and in the way that the the the business
8:59
has been as of late not everybody going to the movie theaters right you know streaming it's everything yeah so for
9:07
you to get 61 million in this time and age it's rated R and it's a rated R film
9:12
right and it's an original it's original you know what I'm saying you got to commend that and salute that but I just
9:19
think because it's a black man i do i thought because it's a black man and they know how great he is every time he
9:26
comes out with something it's like a monumental movement for the culture it like moves the industry and then he
9:32
disappears and comes back and moves the industry again you know just give him his flowers and just say he's one of the
9:37
greatest filmmakers of our time and his wife helped him produce it come on zanzi
9:42
yes let's give him give Ryan his praise give Ryan Give Zenzie get the whole get that whole production that flower want
9:49
to audition one day for Ryan getting his presence i've never like I said I never met him and um I love everything about
9:55
what him and Mike is doing so dope that's amazing cory Hardrick is here and Kyle Yeah
10:02
yeah kyle I got you Kyle don't let Sway in here man he told me his girl live in
10:09
Jersey so I'm I'm I'm I'm in it now girl live in Jersey you trying to butter up Heather
10:14
what you doing man no this is old bridge but no this Cory interview i'm just here this my brother though that's your
10:20
brother brother no it's like my best friend cory my best friend y'all grew up together no we didn't grow up together no we met we met in Chicago yeah had a
10:28
gang rally or something what you said a gang rally no you didn't yes he did this is how you treat first guest Sway so let
10:36
me tell you about Sway he's He Sway's been in his feelings yeah cory Kyle Sway
10:42
is upset he's been cranky for the past 3 days he no longer has a relationship that he had with someone so they cut off
10:49
all his apps so he doesn't have Netflix he doesn't have Hulu she got rid of all his apps so he's been coming to work
10:55
cranky cut off all your apps huh yeah so this is sports you got your sports he don't
11:01
got nothing don't do a guy like that cut him off your app he was just
11:06
messing with those girls he was going to get right back so that boy you slipped in there yeah
11:14
that's his boy he He don't have no apps right now so he cranky Cory so you getting Kyle got to get the the cranky
11:20
catch it you new to the game man you got to catch it Kyle y'all just throw me in there i'm here with my mother man you
11:27
slid in there all on your own right you like that deer just standing in the in the forest stop moving
11:34
deer in headlights tracy thank you we're coming back with Cory Hardrick we're going to open up the
11:40
phone lines 8887423345 we're going to talk about the new movie Die Like a Man and just life
11:47
advice from Corey Hardrick yo man this guy right here it's just been really
11:52
great to watch um his evolution um my my brother right here Corey Hardrick and
11:58

12:05
Beautiful uh Grand Torino Battle Los Angeles Love Lace Warm Bodies Transcendence American Sniper the list
12:12
goes on and on the Shot um All American Homecoming he's done it all yes sir most
12:18
recently uh Tyler Perry's Divorce in the Black which was just all I mean that's all we could talk about for weeks man
12:24
right this dude man I'm looking at him mad at him too like damn man cy what are you doing oh that's right he's playing a
12:31
role man i was like "Yo man I don't like him right now." But uh but and now he
12:36
has the new movie Die Like a Man and in this movie um you've been reported as
12:42
saying that that Cory Hardrick commands the screen that's what they're saying about you and you're in a
12:50
ignmatic father figure and they say your presence um is looms large you know come
12:57
on wow that is just to hear this type of response to your work i want to say
13:04
congratulations to you die like a man will be available digitally on Friday April 25th and congratulations to you
13:10
cory Hardrick is back come on man this guy right here man oh man i appreciate you thank
13:18

13:36
you been Cory so not only working with him so I've known him since n Oh gosh i
13:42
don't over 30 years I've known Sway right that's big working here with him
13:48
for 14 and then you know we moved out here he decided to get an apartment right across the hall i think at that
13:55
point Corey you've had enough no um how do you feel about that man loves you i
14:02
see the love like y'all got this love right here you know this is your guy Cory this my man right here riding for
14:08

14:13
like both of y'all won't just get along can't we just get along can't we just get along
14:20
mediator oh now can we just get along move right across the hall homie listen
14:26
I'm I'm so blessed to be here with you this morning and um like I said I feel like a new artist Die Like a Man Apple
14:33
TV the 25th of April it's a Rights of Passage film it It kind of reminds you
14:38
of those 90s films like Boys in the Hood but it's not like a gang movie you know it's um it's misguided mentorship that a
14:46
lot of young men go through in the hood or just the inner cities when you got that you know it's like that tug-of-war
14:51
voice telling you to how do you become a man you know go from boys to man in the hood and um you know the guy's finding
14:59
itself it's coming of age and I think the people are going to love this movie you know I play this reformed gangster
15:06
out of prison i'm always playing those violent Yeah man but you violent bro why do you think that is man it g me a rush
15:12
man just to let people I like people to say man I can't stand you i hate your
15:18
ass you know like I kind of something about that and I say "Okay that because I'm doing my job." Uhhuh you know you
15:24
need those kids you might need some therapy though too i know i need a romantic comedy i need a romantic comedy
15:30
i want to fall in love in a in a movie or something that would be dope that's like uh liking a a chain and choking i
15:37
don't know nothing about that dog i don't know nothing about the dog collar leave him alone with that okay my bad
15:44
but you know what i love you and it's not a comparison of work um but I love Loren's tape for this i love town
15:50
brother yes i love Omar eps for this and I put you in this as well you guys balance television and film very well
15:58
like I can watch television series that y'all are in and love them and then watch a film that you're in and love it
16:04
how do you decide at this point in your career what to choose like where you like you just mentioned you would love
16:10
to do a romcom but how are you deciding at this point the word got to speak to me like on the page I got to feel like I
16:16
can bring some of myself to the character like when I was on homecoming I'm a father so I was like oh wow I'm
16:21
I'm I have this mentorship father figure role for these students and I said I can bring a lot of myself to that you know
16:29
and then like I say a lot of these street characters I was never you know gang affiliated in the streets but I
16:34
grew up around it so I know you know I know how to portray those characters really well and I know that environment
16:40
well and it's about giving the people what they want to see you know I give people what they really they want to see
16:46
those characters you know because they're they're really they exist out here in the world so um you know I can
16:51
go from zero to 100 pretty quick mhm you've been you you approaching 30 years in the game right 30 yeah like 32
16:58
actually 32 he's like us come on man 32 come on man look like he 32 years of age
17:06
crazy he must be taking that NAD or whatever no it's the tumeric the tumeric and the ginger it's the turmeric yeah i
17:12
mean I I I eat healthy like oil of oregano every day like you know too healthy i eat real healthy ginger uhhuh
17:20
eat clean try to keep my sugar down get it from fruit uhhuh just eat clean food
17:25
you know just eat clean food that's it man look great bro so much when did you
17:30
like I I I didn't think about this but somebody asked me this before when did you know you had staying power in this
17:38
game wow that's a good question um
17:44
wow when did I know I had staying power when just walking through the airport you
17:50
know and people really it's not like hey that's C like when they see me like they
17:55
want to grab me and say I really like they get specific on like characters and roles like it really touches them to a
18:01
way where I feel like okay this is my calling this is my um this is my purpose
18:07
and again sway I I do feel like I have so much that I haven't shared with the
18:13
community yet or the industry and where I can go so um like I say um that's when
18:18
I kind of knew when the when the audience like when the public the public I still think people make stars you know
18:25
Hollywood can manufacture them but you can't cheat the people and as long as I got the people I'mma stick around when
18:31
you lose the people you have nothing amen i want everybody in entertainment to hear heed his message yeah it's the
18:39
people it's the people right it's the people man so yeah we sway and I had a beautiful dinner last week with Suzanne
18:45
de Pass and you know she's legendary in film and television and she told us something very similar to that she said
18:52
you don't know what's going to be a hit you don't know what's going to work you don't know what's going to happen the
18:58
people decides and don't ever forget that it's the people who decide um and
19:03
it's their vote in it and so it's beautiful that you share that as well from your perspective because you are
19:08
that that's what I mean like we can watch you in television and be totally invested we can watch you in film and be
19:14
totally invested in that as well and love you and like yo I'm rooting for him cory's in it let's go you know I'm just
19:20
going to give it a shot based on your credibility based on your staying power based on how you choose your work it's
19:27
like seeing you know Morgan Freeman's name or you know seeing um certain people you're like "All right I know
19:34
they're in good films they pick good work i'm going rock with this." Yeah for sure yeah she put you in the line of
19:40
Morgan Freeman man love that morgan Freeman on transcendence listen when you see his name you know
19:47
you see Mahersela's name you know like they bringing it you know i love all those guy like I say like we were
19:53
talking about like sinners like like I said I was blown away just as a fan you know and an artist that I we were in the
19:59
movies and I was just like "Wow that is so that movie looks beautifully like
20:04
cine." Like that's cinema and it's a brother doing it yes you know what I'm saying like man I was so proud just to
20:10
see that and then Mike killed it and I was just like you know it inspires me to say hopefully one day I can you know be
20:18
in that line of company to do do something like that as well so you speaking it into existence got to yeah
20:24
and we adding our voices to that too it's going to happen congratulations in advance we was in a green room and I'm
20:30
I'm touching the walls i man I touch things and I say "You know what i'm speaking life over my company like
20:36
hardcore films you know um just over my career like my kids my life i still
20:41
speak i still touch things yes and I was here touching things so thank you i like that allowing me to do that absolutely
20:48
man corey Hardrick and Kyle are here all right tracy G you want to jump in yeah
20:53
absolutely corey I'm wondering when you had mentioned how you're you're drawn to like these darker um complicated
21:00
characters right and that requires you to really exercise empathy right when
21:06
you study them and you have to understand like where their their mindset is coming from are you able to
21:12
take that skill set in acting and utilize it in your everyday life as well
21:18
no the the character and those are two different people i don't utilize those characters or I might be in jail no not
21:26
like that oh I thought I thought applying the character to my life my dayto-day walk
21:33
i didn't know oh I'm so sorry i don't know
21:40
i'm so sorry i missed the question i'm so sorry that was I like that the level you my bad sweat no I don't no that's
21:47
that's a character let me say it a different way let me say it a different way
21:53
um the level of empathy and analysis that you can have with a character to
21:59
understand them right are you able to take that into your everyday life where
22:04
you could understand you know just a dude on the street who maybe all your friends hate but you have this ability
22:12
from your acting to then understand their lived experience you can kind of
22:18
jump into their skin yes I can do that um pretty much so because I I feel like
22:23
a lot of these characters are deep rooted with pain you know it comes from pain and lack of love you know what I'm saying and at the
22:30
end of the day if you see a guy like that in the street for the most part all
22:36
he really needs someone is to tell him it's going to be okay i love you brother give him a hug but we don't do enough of
22:41
that so you feel like you don't have that um support system so you try to
22:48
find it elsewhere like out in the community of the people who really don't care about you and really don't love you
22:53
you know and that's kind of like who Solo is as well you know he was all for self but it came came from a place of
22:59
like pain and he projected that on to this young man to deter his life um but
23:04
um to answer the question I would say yes yes solo is the character he plays in
23:11
Die Like a Man Heather B yeah it's funny that you mentioned community because you do have Kyle here one of your best
23:16
friends and it's interesting this morning we had a um Lonnie Light does a segment give me the light and this
23:22
morning it was about friendship and a lot of times for some reason this particular industry is different it's
23:29
handled different than any other industry um I would say sports a very close second you know your man blows up
23:35
your home girl blows up they're a star they're this they're that um how has it been for you watching your friend your
23:41
really close friend um you know just enjoy his blessings from God really but work so hard at it you know how have you
23:48
guys been able to maintain y'all friendship cuz sometimes you lose a lot of people along the way um we from
23:56
Chicago it's loyalty i support Corey wholeheartedly
24:02
like even you know even even in the down days we both just we lift each other up
24:08
amen and I'm just always telling them dude you you that dude man and it's not it's out of love like you know you have
24:15
a lot of friends hanging around people because they trying to get on from it or or it's jealousy or you don't know what
24:20
it is they're hanging around him for but I always encourage Corey just just know man you Corey Hardrick bro you know what
24:26
I mean like you are that dude and just just always remember that don't let nobody or nothing negative make you
24:32
never not believe that because when I see Cory on the screen I'm watching an
24:38
actor as opposed to my close friend and I'm like this dude is really amazing as
24:44
an actor you know you forget that you know this person so I just I just always encourage him Donna i encourage my
24:51
brother yeah you always do just know it man you you Corey bro hey can you teach Heather how to do that for me not happen
24:59
it's more like a brother sister thing it's not happening you started it you like I've known him
25:06
for 30 years it's terrible cory and Kyle it's terrible i don't encourage him at all but you know we just come we come
25:12
from we come from a a real place man you can't let you really just can't let Hollywood uh change that about you you
25:19
from the East Coast you from the Bay we from Chicago it's it's just a real place and then you come to this this meeting
25:25
ground where if you let it it can change you it could really change if you let it for sure entertainment but no I love
25:31
this brother man he can I be real corey is so like when he said he'd be at home with his kids and his family
25:38
he's the reason I proposed to my fiance oh oh wow you blame You say you blame
25:44
him oh I saw you say the reason i'm sorry you said the reason no I saw I he
25:50
was like a ro it was like like when you when you know how somebody get on the internet and you and they they build
25:56
this character that's not real when you know them personally like he really was that like that guy for me like I saw it
26:03
and I'm like man I I like that life like if I'm out and hanging around other people and I he just at home and I'm
26:09
like that's I like that i like that he's just a real you know good father good
26:15
role model for black men that's dope so when he said he's he's telling you the
26:20
truth that's really I like Kyle thanks for sharing that yeah because you don't hear it sometimes like you said a lot of people just hanging on or hanging around
26:27
and that's not always energy i like Kyle when he says that he tells me a lot and I'm like my work I let my work is really
26:34
loud i'm I'm a quiet yep like I let my work when they see it they just like man
26:39
I didn't know but it just like I don't walk around like I'm Corey or I'm better
26:45
than and it's just like I'd be by myself and I be like sometimes I doubt you know like of my not of my abilities but it's
26:53
just kind of like I don't realize it sometimes like you know what I'm saying
26:58
but I'm very grateful and and blessed but I I feel like you know um that's just how I am
27:06
you know yeah and and that's how it is that's how you are it's time to turn up Sway i feel No no no no you turn up on
27:12
the screen man don't turn up nowhere else cory okay all right don't want you going to jail
27:19
bro you owe me some money out here there he goes man see what happen
27:26
all right we got L from Hollywood on the line million dollar lawsuit [ __ ]
27:35
8887423345 cory Hardrick is here and his good friend Kyle is here kyle was getting Kyle you made the marquee
27:40
brother famous all right l in Hollywood what's up what up L hey L hey hey hey
27:46
what's going on i just want to give you your flowers brother cuz you've really been in the game uh for a long time and
27:53
on and off the screen you know as a father myself and navigating through this industry and you standing your
28:00
ground uh regardless of what characters you play it always come out strong and
28:06
I'm glad this new movie coming out going to show what's on the other end when you play those characters but uh like I said
28:12
I think I see you being a superhero on screen a real strong one of those
28:17
because it's the same type of same type of energy you got on and off the screen
28:23
so I just want to give those to you brother thank you wow that means a lot man i I really appreciate you um
28:30
supporting me and I was just speaking like I want to do Someone came to me at the screen last night like "You got to do a Marvel villain." I'm like "Yeah let
28:36
me speak that i would love to." Yeah I can see that i would love to you know Cory you may not know this but and L
28:42
thanks for your call you're a citizen good morning L you know Heather and I are in the Marvel the MU we're in the
28:49
Marvel universe really you got some P what's going on we did Luke Cage you know yeah yeah we did that a couple they
28:56
wanted us to be a part of Luke Cage the series so we did we did a couple of scenes with me man couple episodes yeah
29:02
yeah you know what you do i can check it out somewhere i can see it uh Luke Cage got cancelled
29:10
but you did it though i did it i did it john the episode still exists
29:17
out there somewhere it's on Netflix I think soetflix man you know hey man
29:25
this is why Cory I be trying to support him but then he just let me down man the beats i had no idea
29:33
about you know it was out there yo let me our our kids I won't say where
29:40
but our kids um my daughter graduated from the school your your kids go to and
29:46
um I one of my favorite parts about her high school career was going to watch
29:52
the sports my nephew played football or played a he was a quarterback uh for that same school right the last year
29:58
they went undefeated he was a my partner King Techson okay all right u he's at Davidson now hey man it's just I
30:06
remember being a kid and watching the parents come like to the track meet i
30:12
ran track your daughter runs track right track right and I I always wanted to be
30:18
that parent you know to come to the see my kid play sports i always wanted to be
30:23
in the stands man and the spotlight ain't on me it's watching my kid get better every week you know um uh your
30:31
daughter runs track right i know every every week is reason why an excuse or I
30:37
got to do better and all of that what's more gratifying than that like what is it like to be the parent in the stands
30:43
bro wow it's kind of nerve-wracking because it's like you want to like my
30:48
kids are like embarrassed sometimes cuz I'm that father you know like come on baby like my daughter I went to her
30:54
track practice a few weeks ago i was like "Come on baby daddy's proud of you." She did this while she was running she did a thumbs down she did just like
31:00
this while she was running like "Leave me alone." I said "I'm just going to go sit
31:05
my ass right over here." You was at practice for practice and she gave me the thumbs down like "Daddy let me do
31:11
like you're embarrassing me." And then but you know it's it's also a great feeling to see like your your kids
31:19
compete at something you know and show like that effort and like that willpower and you're like "Wow they're doing this
31:25
on their own." Man that makes me feel proud as a dad and um like I said my kids got supportive parents you know who
31:32
are there with their children and just going to see them through with their dreams and visions so it makes me feel
31:37
good being a dad though i almost got kicked out some of them basketball games for my son for your son for what were
31:43
you that dude ref call about you know Yeah you got Yeah I know so I'm just
31:50
like you know I'll be embarrassing everybody in this thing you know i just got to watch by the door
31:56
a little bit like you know out the stands and just watch and then I get frustrated and walk out in the hallway and a little bit yeah it's just a
32:03
passion yo Kyle's nodding his head like he he's that dad he's been to the court
32:09
with my son he like man just let him play man i'm coaching i'm stopping the whole game like look son if you do you
32:15
triple threat you got to go this way around him in the game people looking like wait we playing right now now how
32:20
you trying to teach him a move that you ever had an issue with another parent from the opposite team no I ain't
32:27
never no issues with another okay good they seen these characters they like nah we ain't they ain't messing with him nah
32:34
he ain't Solo was an ex gangbanger right gang you know what what what kind of
32:41
your son you know he's teenage too now right 13 years 13 oh wow man it's you know that world coming the world's
32:48
coming it's here it's here right it's here right now what kind of if you don't mind sharing how do you prepare your son
32:53
for the world as a young black kid you know how do you prepare him um I'm honest with my son i tell him what it's
33:00
like you know um the real world is different than the world he's living in a little bit you know going to the
33:05
private schools and you know having nannies and just having things that was different for me growing up i try to
33:12
tell him the other side to give him that balance on you have to you have to work hard with everything son because life
33:18
ain't like this after you turn 18 you know what I'm saying so um take
33:24
advantage of these opportunities that me and your mom have you in these resources and do your best and give it all you got
33:30
you don't got to worry about a job like food sneakers clothes just do your best
33:36
and and you know give the maximum effort so I tell him that and um how does he respond
33:42
at first he took it he took it kind of like you know dad is always on me but now he's he's doing his 50 laps on his
33:48
own in the pool okay he's I don't have to tell him about his stretching going to bed by 9:00 at night he's doing
33:54
things where I told him you got to grow you know you got to sleep homework he's doing better in school you know he's um
34:00
his basketball he's he's improving he's maturing and I think once I eased up on telling him so much he started doing it
34:08
more oh man I eased up a little bit cuz I could be you know just James Evans
34:13
yeah oh JJ come on the the kn the nostrils flare
34:19
up i can be that you can be that yeah i said "Let me let me We learned from James Evans bro good times." Yeah did
34:26
you grow up with a father in your house um I I did okay i did until you know
34:31
separation and you know things happened life happened but my father was still
34:36
close to us as well okay yeah um sometimes the kids the parents when we
34:43
when we come from a generation where we the first to kind of get it you know what I mean get it like get financially
34:49
stable get some foundation the kind of success we've had growing up in this hip-hop generation you know whether it's
34:55
through entertainment movies film music we want to overcompensate for what we didn't have and a lot of times I see
35:03
kids with certain privileges um it messes them up you know what I mean because you know
35:09
we're doing too much for them and affluenza affluenza and sometimes they rebel they look they rebel by looking
35:16
for struggle they feel guilty cuz there is no struggle there is no struggle right do you do you sense that at times
35:22
or you you're trying to circumvent that from your kids yeah i mean I sense it a
35:27
little bit but my son has a good under he understands now what life's about before he didn't you know he just
35:33
thought this is going to be smooth sailing like everything is going to be this way forever cory Hardrick and Kyle
35:39
let's give this man a Kyle in the building baby i love it man
35:46
i love when you come up here man die like a man will be available apple TV April 25th you're doing amazing i hope

36:05
sure they'll be honored to have you be a part of any project i would love that okay we putting that out there in the
36:10
univer [Music] y'all do really y'all do like y'all just
36:16
you know you know if you ain't got to talk you might not i've been like that way sometime i used
36:23
to get in trouble for not talking enough what do you mean like like speak up you know what I'm saying like growing up but
36:29
I was always the type where I'll show you what I can do more than say and that just been my thing you know like when
36:36
you see me like oh he shows up every time and I want to be that guy more a man of
36:41
action than words i'm not a good I am like I'm learning still like interview
36:47
sway but I'm like when it's go time they like oh wow and you'll be surprised Corey like I'm sure it happened but I
36:54
think we're still learning you never know who's been watching you you know like right right brian may walk see you
37:00
and walk up to you be like "Yo man i I've been I've been watching you i love your work." And you like you can't even
37:07
get the words together but um I was at a um my daughter's track meeting before I go and Tia and my son
37:16
met him and said he was the nicest guy he patted my son on the head you know was like and um took a picture with her
37:23
and everything and she was just like "He is the nicest guy he's so real down to earth so that's crazy this was just
37:29
Saturday when she said that that just happened she just met him my son met my son you never know you never know where
37:35
