U.S. EMBASSY STAFF MEMBER HOLDING PETITION (TWO SHOTS) CARACAS, VENEZUELA - MAY 7, 2026: Workers and labor union representatives gathered in Caracas on Thursday, May 7, for another day of protests demanding improved working conditions and higher wages. The demonstration took place at Plaza de las Mercedes, where protesters carried flags and banners, banged empty pots and listened to speeches by labor representatives. As part of the protest, a delegation delivered a petition to the U.S. Embassy outlining demands that included an urgent increase in the minimum wage, the release of detained labor leaders and support for free and transparent elections. The document was received by Sean Sibert, identified by organizers as head of security for the U.S. delegation.
