US: Snow Sweeps Northern Alaska As Winter Like Conditions Blanket Higher Ground.

Alaska, United States - September 02, 2026 Snow covered the higher stretch of a gravel road on the morning of Sept. 2, 2026, as Will, an NWS employee, captured snowy views in the area. The footage shows a light dusting of snow along the road shoulders, brush and spruce trees. Fog or low cloud cuts visibility across the snowy landscape. A pickup side mirror and a stuffed animal on the dashboard appear in the snow-covered scenes as the vehicle travels through the area. Lower temperatures were expected through the following day before a warm-up toward the end of the week and into the weekend. Separate NWS notes placed the snow level near 1,800 feet on the Dalton Highway corridor, with up to about an inch of snow above that elevation.
