Ocean City, United States - September 27, 2026 Gray floodwater blankets a residential back-bay street as lingering tidal flooding leaves roads submerged and vehicles stranded following a powerful coastal storm. The video was filmed by X user Coastal Pete on the morning of September 27, 2026. Water covers the roadway from one side to the other, while multi-story homes line the flooded street with lower levels and garages partially submerged. Parked vehicles sit partly underwater or stranded in the middle of the street as utility poles, traffic lights and street signs rise above the floodwater. The camera moves slowly forward, showing the water stretching down the residential corridor. The flooding followed a powerful nor’easter that battered the Jersey Shore for several days. Elevated tides reached approximately 7.63 feet on the mean low water scale at peak, among the highest levels recorded in Ocean City since the 2016 Jonas nor’easter. Back-bay neighborhoods experienced repeated flooding across multiple high-tide cycles, with streets closed, vehicles stranded and residents urged to stay off flooded roads. The storm also caused beach erosion along the oceanfront while bringing strong winds, rain and dangerous surf before gradually moving away.
