New York, United States - July 29, 2026 Muddy brown floodwaters from the overflowing Schoharie Creek spread across low-lying areas and roadways near Route 23 under overcast skies after heavy rainfall. The video shows water covering grass and pavement while houses and trees remain in the background. As the camera moves across the flooded area, floodwaters can be seen surrounding trees and reaching toward the roadway. The flooding occurred near Prattsville on July 29, 2026, after a powerful low-pressure system brought heavy rainfall that caused the Schoharie Creek to rise quickly and overflow its banks, resulting in moderate flooding. Crews documented the flooding along Route 23 and urged drivers to stay away from flooded roads. "Motorist: Be alert for flooding across the region. One of our crews spotted this flooding along Route 23 near Prattsville today as the Schoharie Creek spilled over its banks. Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn around, find another route, and allow extra time." Similar flash flooding affected parts of the Catskills region the same day.
