Los Angeles, United States - May 18, 2026 05/18/2026 11:30 am GMT-0700 SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – A fire in the region has grown to 183.9 acres. Depending on radio traffic from the incident command, two additional Type 3 tankers and three large air tankers have been requested to assist with firefighting efforts. Multiple hotspots have been reported over Montgomery Fire Road. Evacuation warnings have been issued for zones Thousand Oaks 06 and Thousand Oaks 07, as reported by the Ventura County Emergency Incident Dashboard. Units have been deployed to the vicinity of Rocking Horse Drive and Meander Drive for structure protection. Earlier, the fire was reported to cover 10 acres. In addition to the earlier warning, an evacuation order has been issued for zone SIMI-32. Evacuations are also in effect for Simi Valley zones SIMI-32, SIMI-33, SIMI-34, and SIMI-35. An evacuation warning has been issued for zone SIMI-31, as detailed on the Ventura County Incident Dashboard, with zones visible on the Watch Duty map. Evacuation efforts have been requested for Rambling Road in the area of Casual Court and Rocking Horse Drive. The fire has been observed moving toward Hailey Court and Rudolph Drive, prompting additional alarms and a second helicopter support request. The rapid spread of the fire has been confirmed, fueled by light to medium vegetation and wind conditions, posing an immediate threat to structures along Hailey Court. Fire crews are currently engaged in protecting residences. Reports indicate the fire was at least one acre in size behind residences on Sandy Drive when the first unit arrived.
