US, Los Angeles: Simi Valley Sandy Wildfire Afternoon Part 1.

Los Angeles, United States - May 19, 2026 05/18/2026 06:08 pm GMT-0700 SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – A wildfire in Simi Valley has been burning through the mountains and is moving eastbound toward Los Angeles. The fire ignited this morning around 10:20 on Sandy Avenue and has grown to over 850 acres. As of this evening, fire crews are battling the blaze with aerial operations and ground teams that include bulldozers, strike teams, and fixed-wing aircraft. Multiple statewide fire departments are providing mutual aid, although the fire remains primarily within Ventura County. Homes have been damaged by the fire; however, the number of homes affected and the extent of the damage are currently unknown. Emergency evacuations are underway for nearby homes as the fire approaches, and residents are being prompted to evacuate for their safety. Evacuation warnings have also been issued for some residents in West Hills and other areas of Los Angeles County as a precaution, advising them to be ready to evacuate at any moment.
