Oct 10, 2026
Los Angeles, United States - October 10, 2026 10/10/2026 09:30 am GMT-0700 LONG BEACH, Calif. – Powerful waves continued to pound the Long Beach Peninsula Saturday morning, crashing into an already damaged boardwalk as portions of waterfront homes appeared to have collapsed following days of high surf and coastal erosion. The latest wave activity comes one day after city officials reported five damaged structures, including two red-tagged buildings and three yellow-tagged buildings, according to City News Service. The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning through 3 p.m. Sunday, with high tides of 7.3 to 7.6 feet expected. Waves of 4 to 7 feet are also forecasted for Sunday. Long Beach officials are expected to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. Saturday to discuss ongoing preparations and coastal flooding concerns. Forecasters warned that conditions could worsen Sunday as swells associated with Tropical Storm Rachel combine with elevated tides, strong winds, and rain, potentially causing additional structural damage and coastal flooding.
