US, Los Angeles: Long Beach Construction Closes 710 Freeway Over The Weekend.

Los Angeles, United States - September 26, 2026 09/26/2026 12:47 am GMT-0700 LONG BEACH, Calif. – LONG BEACH (CNS) - Motorists will face a weekend closure of the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach today as construction work continues. The freeway was fully closed at Anaheim Street at 10 p.m. Friday and is scheduled to remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Port of Long Beach. The southbound Shoemaker Bridge connector and off-ramp to downtown Long Beach are also closed. Southbound motorists are being directed to exit at Anaheim Street-East and use Long Beach Boulevard to reach downtown and other destinations to the south. Southbound trucks are being detoured via the San Diego (405) Freeway or Pacific Coast Highway to Alameda Street, then to the southbound Terminal Island Freeway to reach the port complex. The northbound Shoemaker Bridge, which connects downtown Long Beach to the northbound 710 Freeway, will remain open. Signs are posted throughout affected areas to direct motorists, according to port officials. The closures are part of the third and final weekend detour associated with a construction project to remove ramps that once connected the Shoemaker Bridge to the north harbor area in West Long Beach.
