SOUNDBITE (English) US AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL MIKE HUCKABEE SAYING: “It's been a very, very instructive morning to have an opportunity to visit with the residents here at Terra Messiah. This is a beautiful community. Obviously, these homes are magnificent. All the people that I visited with this morning are Americans. What my message to them was that I work for them as the American ambassador. The job of the embassy is to represent American people and American policy. And in representing American people, if they have grievances, we want to hear them. And today we heard them. We heard about the challenges that they face living in their own homes, on their own property, some of the intimidation that is being carried out by people that I have characterized as being terrorists. I know that's an uncomfortable word for some people, but when you try to create an atmosphere in which people feel uncomfortable living in their own homes, their children playing in their own lawns and yards, and people feeling that they're not safe and that they're not secure because of the behavior, the actions, and the intimidation of others, that's terrorism by any definition, whether it's law or whether it's the dictionary. I think that the people who do these acts of criminal activity and terror are incredibly small in relationship to the total number of people who live in Judea and Samaria. Half a million Israelis, 2 million Palestinians live in this shared land. There may be a few hundred that are responsible, but that's a few hundred too many. And one of the messages that we have been sending and we will continue to send is that people in these communities have a right to live with a level of security and safety, and that the government has a responsibility to make sure that that happens. We're here today to hear their stories. I made it very clear that there are limitations in what a US Embassy can do in another country. We cannot investigate. We don't have that power or authority. We cannot adjudicate. We don't have that power or authority. But we can influence and we can call attention to things that need to be corrected and to the fact that it is not fair to the overwhelming majority of people who are living peacefully on either side of these borders to have their lives either disrupted physically and threatened or for people who want to live on the other side peacefully and raise their families without a fear of what is being done to their reputation. All of those things need to be addressed. And we're here today because we not only wanted to listen, but now we want to speak truth to power and plan to do that. I thank all of you for coming because I feel like it's important to provide a balance of the truth and make sure that people understand what is actually happening and that there are beautiful, wonderful families. I saw some children today that came and spoke with an extraordinary level of poise. They articulated their own concerns. One young man is 12 years old. He's about to turn 13 later this month.
