DAMAGED OLIVE TREES (TWO SHOTS) / ISRAELI FLAGS WAVING JENIN, WEST BANK, PALESTINE - SEPT. 2: Israeli military bulldozers uprooted dozens of olive trees and leveled Palestinian agricultural land on Friday, Sept. 4, in the town of Arraba, southwest of Jenin, just weeks before the annual olive harvest. The leveling operations spanned 223 dunams (55 acres) along the road connecting Arraba and Ya'bad. Local Palestinian landowners said they had formally requested that military authorities postpone the work until after the upcoming harvesting season, but the request was rejected. Palestinian farmer Sami Bahbour said several of the destroyed trees were roughly 150 years old, describing the military action as a deliberate effort to pressure residents and undermine their livelihoods. Arraba Mayor Ahmed al-Arda noted that local farmers have been barred from accessing roughly 1,500 dunams (370 acres) of agricultural land since 2023, while another 1,400 dunams near the Emek Dotan settlement face ongoing access restrictions and Israeli settler attacks. The incident came as the occupied West Bank continues to witness daily Israeli army raids, including home searches and arrests of Palestinians, in parallel with Israeli occupier attacks since the start of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The occupied Palestinian territories have periodically witnessed shootings, stabbings and car-ramming attacks targeting Israeli soldiers or occupiers amid Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank. Israel has killed more than 73,000 people and injured over 174,000 others in Gaza since Oct. 8, 2023. Israeli army and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Gaza offensive have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians and injured over 12,000 others, while around 24,000 have been arrested.
