PHOTOGRAPHERS NEAR BIRDSKONYA, TÜRKIYE - JUNE 8: The Akgol wetlands in central province of Konya, one of Türkiye's important wetland areas, came back to life after recent rainfall. Situated along a key migratory bird route in Türkiye, the Akgol reeds in Eregli distrcit provide essential habitat for many species, including those at risk of extinction. Spanning 6,787 hectares, this natural protection area holds significant national and international importance. Over 200 bird species have been documented in and around the Eregli reed beds, including flamingos, titmice, cormorants, herons, swans, geese, ducks, Egyptian vultures, snake eagles, and many more. Known as a bird paradise on the Konya Plain, Akgol Wetlands was declared a first-degree natural protected area in 1993 and a nature conservation area in 1995.
