After being washed, repaired and dried, the traditional carpets are spread across the fields to naturally fade their colors under the Mediterranean sun, giving them a sought-after pastel appearance. The carpets remain in the fields for about three months and are regularly turned to ensure even exposure to sunlight before being cleaned and prepared for export. Many of the handmade, naturally dyed carpets are later shipped to international buyers, primarily in the United States, the United Kingdom and several European countries. The striking "carpet fields" have also become a popular destination for photographers and visitors attracted by the unique seasonal landscape.
