Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree identified an Aramco facility in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu and an air base in Khamis Mushait as the targets. According to Saree, missiles and drones were used against the Yanbu site, while ballistic missiles were fired toward the air base in Khamis Mushait. There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities or Saudi Aramco regarding the claims, and no casualties or damage were announced. The statement came after the Houthis separately said they brought down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet over Yemen's Marib province with a domestically produced surface-to-air missile, a claim that has not been independently verified or confirmed by Saudi authorities. Confrontations between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis have intensified since a broader escalation between Yemen's internationally recognized government and the Houthis in early July, following years of relative calm after a UN-brokered truce took effect in April 2022.
