The updated deal is expected to boost trade, investment, clean technologies and supply chain cooperation, while expanding opportunities in agriculture, services, e-commerce and public procurement. The European Commission said bilateral trade between the sides currently totals around 100 billion euros annually and is expected to increase further under the new framework. The agreements also include commitments on sustainable development, labor rights, environmental protection and gender equality. The new agreements will enter into force after ratification procedures are completed. The summit was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic. In 2025, EU-Mexico trade was valued at more than €86 billion ($99.7 billion), roughly €53 billion in exports and over €34 billion in imports. The EU was Mexico's third-largest trading partner after the US and China, and its second-largest export market.
