According to Iraq's official news agency INA, Khamenei's body arrived in Karbala from Najaf, where crowds carrying Iraqi and Iranian flags, religious banners and portraits of Khamenei filled the streets to pay their respects. The procession moved slowly through the city as large crowds lined the route, with participants chanting slogans during the ceremony. Following the procession, Khamenei's body was taken to the shrines of Imam Hussein and Abbas in Karbala, where funeral prayers were scheduled to be held.
