Doctors were left stunned after discovering a bizarre collection of objects inside a woman’s stomach and removed 14 pens, five wooden spoons and a candle from the stomach of a 33-year-old woman during an unusual surgical procedure. The incident occurred at Matashree Private Hospital in Narasaraopet, in Palnadu district in southern India's Andhra Pradesh, on September 5. Visuals show doctors carrying out the procedure and carefully removing the unusual objects from the woman’s stomach. The recovered items included 14 pens, five wooden spoons and a candle, with the objects later displayed together. One of the pens was missing its cap, raising concerns that it could have caused an internal injury. The woman, from Petlurivaripalem village, was brought to the hospital by her family after complaining of chest pain and severe discomfort. Doctors conducted diagnostic tests and were shocked to find the foreign objects inside her stomach. A surgical team led by Dr P Ramachandra Reddy then performed a laparoscopic procedure, making a small opening to carefully remove the objects, which took about an hour. The longest pen found inside her stomach measured around 25 centimetres. Dr Reddy said it remains unclear how the woman managed to swallow so many objects. Her father, Nomula Hanumantha Rao, reportedly said she had been experiencing mental health problems for around 10 years and that her husband had divorced her two months ago. Doctors said the woman is now recovering and her condition is stable. The case has raised questions about how the objects entered her stomach and highlights the potentially life-threatening consequences of swallowing non-food items.
