Thousands of railway workers carrying union flags gathered in front of the Gare du Nord to voice their demands before marching toward the headquarters of the Union of Public Transport and Railways (UTP) in Paris, France. According to data from the French railway company SNCF, the strike resulted in the cancellation of two out of every three high-speed train services and half of all intercity services, while commuter train services connecting Paris to surrounding cities also experienced significant disruptions. The workers, who are demanding better wages and working conditions, oppose the opening of the railway sector to competition from private companies.
