The pair immediately called for help as the woman struggled in the pond. Moments later, local villager and veteran Communist Party member Zheng Anyu heard their cries and sprinted towards the scene. Without hesitation, Zheng ran to the edge of the pond and leapt into the water. He quickly swam towards the woman, grabbed hold of her and carefully pulled her back towards the bank.
