Hangzhou, China - August 29, 2026 This is the terrifying moment that a powerful nighttime tidal bore crashed against a riverside embankment and knocked several tourists off their feet in China. On August 30, 2026, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the video captured the powerful Qiantang River “Ghost King Tide” surging through the river at night as crowds gathered along the bank to watch. The returning bore slammed violently into the embankment, sending huge waves surging upward and spilling across the riverside area. As the water suddenly rushed toward the spectators, several tourists were caught off guard and scrambled to get away. Some failed to move quickly enough and were knocked to the ground by the force of the incoming water. The event occurred around the 18th day of the seventh lunar month, when the Qiantang River entered a major tidal period. This tide was commonly known as the “Ghost King Tide” because it occurred shortly after the Hungry Ghost Festival. The video ended with the tourists scrambling away from the riverbank after several of them were knocked down, while powerful waves continued crashing against the embankment.
