China: Giant panda turns snack time into fun time.
May 10, 2026
A giant panda has been caught on camera indulging in bamboo shoots while lying flat on its back at northwest China's Qinling Giant Panda Research Center, charming viewers with the most leisurely mealtime imaginable. In the video, Rong Rong lounged comfortably on the sunny grass, nibbling a tender shoot held in his left paw. His right paw clutched a second shoot, already waiting its turn. Once he finished the first, the picky bear bit the other one in half with a single crunch, tossed aside the tougher bottom part, and savored only the tender tip. When all that chewing got tiring, Rong Rong took a break. He stretched out flat on his back, rolled onto his side, and scratched an itch with a hind paw. After a few minutes of rest, he was ready to snack again. Rong Rong is the offspring of Qizai, a brown and white giant panda whose rare coloring has made him an online sensation. At nearly four years old, Rong Rong is in his sub-adult stage, the panda equivalent of a human teenager. Shotlist: Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, northwest China - Recent: 1.
