Storyline China sees surge in construction machinery sales during Jan-May period New data from China's Construction Machinery Association shows the country's construction machinery sales surged in the first five months of the year with both domestic and overseas markets posting double-digit growth. From January to May more than 126,000 excavators were sold representing a nearly 25 percent year on year increase. More than 67,000 loaders were sold, meanwhile, a more than 27 percent year on year increase. New-energy construction machinery also maintained strong momentum. Roughly 21,000 electric loaders were sold during that time, a 90 percent year on year increase. Su Zimeng, president, China Construction Machinery Association: "Our industry continues to advance along the path of high-end, smart, green, and integrated development. Innovation capabilities have been improved substantially, and the pace of replacement through new intelligent and electric-powered equipment is clearly accelerating. Today, the technical sophistication, performance and after-sales service of Chinese construction machinery are well positioned to meet the needs of both domestic and international markets." The association's data also showed that exports of electric construction machinery between January and May also rose significantly at more than 1,200 units- a 200 percent annual increase.
