La Paz, Bolivia - September 19, 2026 Scientists have identified a new species of wild cat in the warm valleys of the Bolivian Andes, specifically in the Los Yungas region. The small animal, known to locals as the tilcayo, has been given the scientific name Leopardus tilcayo—a discovery considered exceptional, given that no new species of wild cat had been described for more than a century.
