Schumer may give Democrats green light to fund government after election win

Schumer will give members of his party the green light to vote yes on a continuing resolution

after a very successful election night. And the elections will be over with

so they will have turned out their base. And I think that makes it a little bit easier

for them now to come back in and actually get something done. Senate Republicans believe the government shutdown could end as soon as Thursday or Friday

now that key elections in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California are over

Here's what Senator Mark Wayne Mullen told reporters about some of his Democratic colleagues

But I will tell you there's enough Democrats that I'm friends with that were willing to vote last week

and they were assured that Schumer would let them vote the way they need to this week

if they would just wait until after the elections. The Democrats who are expected to flip represent battleground states

where continuing to vote against government funding could be used against them in the 2026 midterm elections

Senators who represent safe Democratic states appear ready to hold firm. My view on this is that we are in this fight for people who have no voice who have no lobbyists and who are literally making decisions Do they keep their health insurance or do they figure out how to pay

rent? What have we done to endure all of this inconvenience and some pain if we don't accomplish

something for the American people. And I sense and sympathize with the hurt that people are feeling

but the greater hurt is to go without health insurance. So where do we go from here? Well

they need to come up with a new end date for government funding. The continuing resolution

they've been voting on for the last five weeks only funds the government through November 21st

Obviously, that date won't work anymore. So Republican leaders in the House and Senate are looking for an extension that will now last until the end of December, possibly the end of January or March
