It's a story that shows music really can transcend generations

Connie Francis' 1960 hit Pretty Little Baby found a second life this year on TikTok

with more than 2 million videos to the song, introducing the pop legend to a whole new generation of listeners

And in a bittersweet moment, Francis herself joined the app in June

I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news

Frances had been facing health challenges, sharing in March that she was using a wheelchair due to hip issues

The chart-topping icon was the first woman to earn a number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with Everybody's Somebody's Fool

And now, with Pretty Little Baby, it's a reminder of how the Internet can breathe new life into timeless voices

and how fans, young and old, are keeping the legacy alive of artists like Connie

This isn't the first time we've seen this happen. Remember Fleetwood Mac's 1977 hit Dreams

It went viral in 2020 thanks to one laid guy with a skateboard and cranberry juice

After the video blew up, Dreams was heard over 230 million times in just two weeks

according to Warner Music Group, and re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since

its release. Group members Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood even joined TikTok to recreate the

video themselves. Fleetwood surprised the original creator during a BBC interview back in October 2020 to thank him directly

I just want to say outside of Fleetwood Maca, you know, we owe you. It's such a great story and so needed in days that are really challenging

And it's not just TikTok where we're seeing these songs make a comeback. TV and movies are sparking resurgences too

Sophie Ellis-Bexter's 2001 hit Murder on the Dance Floor exploded after being featured in the 2023 thriller Salt Burn

TikTok users have created hundreds of thousands of videos to the song, including sped up and orchestral remixes

According to Bustle, the track re-entered the charts and peaked at No. 2 on the official UK singles chart

So whether it's Connie Francis, Fleetwood Mac or Sophie Ellis-Bexter, these are just a few of the viral moments, not just bringing back hits, but giving legends their flowers again from an entirely new generation of listeners
