Hello and welcome back to yet another episode on this channel. Thank you so
0:04
much for choosing to tune in. As of my previous video I did mention that I'm a
0:09
certified clinical nutritionist and I am 100% capable of giving my assistance and
0:15
opinion on matters nutrition. So today we are going to do some little exploration
0:20
on nutrition as a course. We shall of course go deeper into nutritional matters
0:25
health later on on this channel. I will just to mention but a few talk about
0:30
different course names, the different universities and colleges offering nutrition, the requirements to study nutrition in Kenya, the course duration
0:40
licensing and practice and finally workstation. In Kenya to be precise the
0:47
name of the course depends on where you studied or where you choose to study. For
0:51
instance I studied in University of Eldorado and my course was food science and
0:56
nutrition. Other course names could be human nutrition, food science and nutrition, food nutrition and aesthetics or simply nutrition and aesthetics
1:06
Regardless when you graduate we are all we all become nutritionists. There are
1:12
many universities and colleges in Kenya that offer nutrition course but just to
1:18
mention a few we have Masindemuliro University of Science and Technology, we have Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, we have
1:27
University of Eldorado, we have University of Nairobi, we have Kenyatta University, Mount Kenya University among other colleges. The requirements to join
1:38
to study nutrition would be a grade of C plus in your KCSE or above as far as I
1:45
know. The course takes a period of two years if it's a certificate course
1:53
three years if it's a diploma course, four years if it's a degree course. After
1:59
graduation you would be required to do a mandatory internship that lasts one year
2:03
if you wish to practice as a nutritionist after which you get
2:08
certified by the KNDI which is Kenya Nutritionists and Dietitians Institute. After the licensing award you are therefore qualified to work in different
2:19
places including but not limited to hospitals, food industries, community schools, NGOs and fitness centers etc. according to your liking. Your salary
2:32
totally depends on where you work. I hope this short video helps someone out
2:37
there. Thank you so much please subscribe. you
