Hello and welcome to a video where I
0:02
will show you how to make talking head
0:04
videos more interesting.
0:09
So everyone is talking about how to make
0:11
videos. Are you a teacher or a podcaster
0:13
or being interviewed for a podcast or
0:15
giving a presentation or starting a
0:17
YouTube channel? Chances are maybe
0:19
you've tried even to record yourself
0:21
right now. In this video I will show you
0:23
tips to film better talking head videos.
0:26
Many creators will teach you how to make
0:28
your footage videos, but talking head
0:30
videos are inevitable. Like 80% of
0:32
YouTube is somebody talking into the
0:34
camera. So with a humble talking head
0:37
video with your phone and how to make it
0:39
better. I promise I wouldn't get too
0:41
technical and I'm not going to be
0:42
expensive equipment to get it done. So
0:44
the first step is to use your back
0:46
camera if you're using a mobile phone.
0:48
We all want to film ourselves if we are
0:49
taking a selfie. But the front camera
0:52
actually has a pretty low resolution and
0:54
a pretty small aperture, which basically
0:56
just means that it needs small light. So
0:58
if you're shooting yourself with your
0:59
front camera and the footage is getting
1:01
grainy, that means there is not enough
1:03
light for it. Make sure you're using
1:05
your wide angle camera, it has more
1:07
light and is more likely to end up
1:09
looking grainy just by turning up phone
1:11
around. Next up is light. Find a light
1:14
that light source. Use a window if
1:17
possible. There are some grand rules
1:18
though. First, have the window to the
1:20
side. And second, avoid highlight. Also,
1:23
as you're framing your shot, try to not
1:25
have the window in it. You basically
1:27
want your face to be reasonably bright.
1:30
If not, the bestest thing in the frame,
1:32
and it can never compete with a window.
1:34
So, now the trick is to get the light
1:37
from the window, but not to have it in
1:39
the frame. Window to the side. Good
1:41
window in front of you can be good. It
1:43
can also blind you, but whatever window
1:45
behind you is bad. It can be still but
1:48
hit or miss but for video it really
1:50
makes a lot of difference. Now let's
1:52
talk about camera positioning. This can
1:55
be a big sign that you don't really know
1:57
what you are doing. Fake it till you
1:59
make it. If you are about your phone
2:02
photos and videos you can get a Gorilla
2:05
Pod for your phone about 25 bucks and if
2:08
it's not enough you can just put it in a
2:10
stack of books. I also don't like when
2:13
people on camera sit close to a wall. So
2:16
there is like more than an arms length
2:18
between me and the wall. And if I have
2:20
more spaces, I would probably sit even
2:23
further from it. But anyways, there is
2:25
one final thing we really need to talk
2:27
about. Your audio sound is more
2:29
important than video. You don't believe
2:30
me at all? Well, let me tell you. Would
2:32
you rather let me listen through a
2:35
microphone in front of my face or
2:37
through the awkward microphone on my
2:39
camera? You don't want to record the
2:41
echo audio in the room. You want to
2:42
record yourself. And to do that, we need
2:44
to have a mic that is as close as
2:47
possible to your mouth. Luckily, this is
2:49
pretty cheap and it's about like 50
2:51
bucks. You can see the link in the
2:52
description below or let me go through
2:54
or let me know through the comment
2:56
section if you would need help in
2:57
purchasing. If you have a mobile phone
2:59
without a headphone yet, you're going to
3:01
need the dongle, but otherwise it works.
3:04
Point is, you need to have a mic close
3:06
to your face and this thing delivers
3:08
that for a very low end price. There are
3:11
other cheap lap mics made for just your
3:13
phone out there. Some of them have a
3:15
bigger cord. If you attempted to get a
3:17
mic for your phone that stays on your
3:19
phone, don't do it because like if I
3:22
wanted a mic far away from me, I'll just
3:24
use the mic that is in my phone already.
3:26
And that's how to make better talking
3:27
loud videos with your phone. As I said,
3:30
a lot of small improvements can really
3:32
get you a long way. And you don't need
3:34
to be too technical. You just need to
3:36
know what to pay attention to. I hope
3:38
this video was useful and I will see you
3:40
in the next one. If you like this video,
