On this podcast episode I answer a question from a listener by sharing my thoughts on how to clear underbrush from a piece of land using goats to make it useful for other livestock or anything else he might want to do with it. Homestead Updates: The tomato harvest is just now really coming in at full swing. Rabbits starting to have their litters, been holding off this summer. This is the time of the year when most homesteading activity takes place in the kitchen. Question For Today’s Podcast Episode: Edward asks: What is your take on clearing wooded land to use for livestock? Our 38 acres is about 3 acres of nice lawn around the house, and 35 acres of forest. About 2/3 of the 35 acres is thicker older growth, which I don't plan to do much of anything with other than keep clear of deadfall...but the other 1/3 (maybe 10 acres total) is forest that had been previously logged, and so its thick with low growth/saplings etc. I'd love to start slowly opening some of that up to use for more livestock in the future.
