When it comes to concealed carry, stiffness does matter and I'm going to show you why
0:06
So stick around. Hey guys, welcome back to the channel
0:34
What we're going to be talking about today is a product from a company called Core
0:41
And Core is a manufacturer of gun belts and it's become really apparent to me with doing
0:54
concealed carry that the belt that you have your rig on is really important
1:00
It is crucial. And what I want to do is I want to show you this product that I got from them
1:06
I want to show you how to set it up, put it together, and then also talk about and show
1:12
how it actually works with a concealed carry weapon and why the stiffness does matter
1:23
And hopefully you guys can really see the quality of this product and I can highlight
1:29
it for you because it's pretty awesome and I'm pretty excited to show it to you
1:34
So let's get right into it. So this is from Core and the link for their company is down below so please check that out
1:45
Now Core makes a variety of gun belts. This is their EDC gun belt
1:52
It is a 1.5 inch belt and it supports up to 8 pounds of weight
1:57
What's interesting about this belt is, and if you're not familiar with Core or these
2:02
types of belts, this is a ratcheting belt system. What that means is it gives you a lot of adjustability, a lot of comfort, and it's just so far superior
2:22
to a traditional leather belt that has the traditional metal buckle with the holes in it
2:31
And I'm going to show you why because it's going to blow you away how cool this thing is
2:36
Now I've done a review of Core belt before, it was quite a while ago, so it was really
2:42
time for an update and show you what they have. This is one of their newest belts and hopefully you guys can see this in the video
2:50
We'll do some close up shots, but this is in Multicam Black
2:55
They now have a variety of colors in this size, but now they've also added Multicam
3:04
so there's Multicam Arid, Tropic, the Black, and there's some other colors, some camo colors
3:11
as well. So really cool stuff. It's a really good looking belt
3:17
So we got the belt. This is what comes with this. You get to pick out the belt color that you want, and there's solid colors as well
3:23
So I picked out Multicam Black. Then I picked out my buckle, and the buckle is, I believe this is the X6, which is a really
3:37
cool black material, or a black coating on it
3:47
And then we have the sizing instructions and setup
3:56
Also came with the optional hanger, so I'm able to hang this on my closet
4:04
Then we've got the hardware and a hex wrench. So what makes this belt so different than a traditional belt
4:15
Well, first thing is, you don't have to order a very specific size, and that is one of the
4:23
huge benefits of these types of belts from Core, is that it is a one size that you fit
4:31
to yourself, and then once you fit it, you still have plenty of adjustments
4:37
So if you lose a little weight, you gain a little weight, maybe you don't want to wear
4:41
the belt so tightly because you're not carrying a weapon at that time, you can do that
4:47
And you can't do that with a traditional leather belt because you're always stuck with just
4:52
a few adjustments, and once you outgrow that belt, well, it's time to go to the store and
4:58
buy a new one. But this has a lot of adjustments. So the belt goes from 24 to 54 inch waist
5:09
There's about 40 plus size increments that you can adjust to within that range, and there
5:16
are quarter inch increments of adjustability within the belt. So what you do is with this, it's pretty simple, and we're just going to follow the directions
5:26
and I'm going to walk you through this just like I was setting this thing up brand new because it's time to pop on the old man reading glasses
5:33
So the first thing we want to do is, on the back of the belt, there are ruler markings
5:37
that you find your pant size. Flip the belt over, and you're going to look for your pant size on here
5:52
So I'm right at about, I'm kind of in between a 40 and a 42, but to be safe, I'm going to
5:58
go with a 42. And then next it says to add four inches to your pant size and cut using sharp scissors
6:10
If you're using an inside the waistband holster, you add six. So if I'm adding four to that 42, it's running at 43, 44, 45, it's continuing up to 46
6:26
That seems like a lot to me, but it says in the directions, for example, if your pant
6:34
size is a 34, cut the belt at the mark at 38
6:37
So to be safe, we're going to follow the directions. I'm going to cut it to 46, and it says to use sharp scissors
6:43
So I'm going to cut the belt. Now I think I should have used my EMT shears
6:52
These are not quite cutting it. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. All right
7:00
Hang on. Try the EMT shears. That's a little bit easier. Boom
7:11
So it says gently loosen the screws with the included hex wrench
7:28
Loosen those just a little bit. Okay. Insert the cut end of the belt into the buckle teeth and clamp down firmly. Okay
7:40
So you see that I've loosened the screws, and there is this little mechanism right here
7:50
And as you can see when you flip that open, there are teeth in there
7:55
So it says to insert the belt, the cut end into this
8:03
So you have to really loosen those like almost completely out for them to get past, because
8:07
the belt has to go underneath and past those screws. So then you flip that down
8:24
Make sure you get the belt firmly pressed into the buckle when you're clamping it down
8:30
because when you clamp it down, it's going to have a tendency to shift back just a little bit
8:35
There we go. And you're going to want the belt to extend about three or four inches beyond your first
8:44
belt loop. That's what they're saying. So, okay, there it is. It's all set up
8:50
Pretty easy. Got to cut to my size. All right. So I've put the belt on, and what I've done is I've put on a white T-shirt so you can
9:02
see the belt and how it looks. Can you hear that
9:13
That is the size adjustment. If I tighten that down, I'm probably about two inches beyond my belt loop, but these
9:29
are work pants. These are my LA police gear pants, and the belt loop, the first belt loop is pretty far out
9:38
Like if I was wearing jeans, the belt loop would be more up here, so it would definitely
9:42
be three inches or better. So I think the fit is fine
9:52
I wouldn't want to go any smaller than that, but I still have plenty of adjustment
10:01
To loosen these kind of belts up, what you do is there is a little switch, and you activate
10:06
that, and that releases, and then it comes loose that way. Then what you do is you just push the belt into the buckle, and now it's clicking against
10:19
the teeth, and it's adjusting. That's how you get all this adjustment in this kind of belt
10:29
At the beginning of the day, typically you haven't eaten, you're just waking up, so you're
10:37
able to get that belt down nice and tight. Of course, if we're going to do this review properly, I want to show you the belt with
10:46
a holster underneath a shirt concealed. This is my normal setup. As you can see, there is no flex
11:00
It is solid, and I've got it tightened down pretty good. I can go about one more click
11:15
That's a good, solid platform. Gun stays where it's supposed to
11:33
It keeps it down close to my side. It's pulled in nicely
11:38
It's not flopping out. That way, the weapon is not printing underneath my shirt terribly
11:45
Definitely, a good belt is a necessity. That is how to set up the Core Belt
11:55
That's how it looks when it's on. That's how it adjusts. All pretty simple stuff, nothing too complex
12:03
Now, why is the Core Belt different than other belts, and why is it good for concealed carry
12:17
When you start carrying, you quickly realize that the belt becomes really critical
12:23
If you've ever started carrying, and then you start off with your normal leather EDC
12:30
belt that you've always worn, you quickly realize that it is not good enough
12:37
The reasoning is because with a holster, of course, there is weight
12:42
Then if you are drawing from that holster, that belt has to be rock solid
12:47
It has to be a rock solid platform that is not going to flex or move in any way
12:53
It needs to become part of you. When you do pull your weapon and then re-holster, that holster stays where it's supposed to
13:02
be, and it's not moving around. With this particular belt, and with all Core Belts, stiffness is a big deal
13:17
They do a really good job with these things. Like I said, this particular model holds up to eight pounds of weight
13:28
That is way more than I'm going to ever carry concealed. There are other belts in their lineup that move up in size and also will hold more weight
13:41
if that is more of a concern. They go all the way up to a gun platform, almost like a duty belt
13:50
It's bigger. It has molly and things like that on it, so you can attach pouches and things
13:56
More of a range belt, I guess I would call it. This particular model, the gun belt, is truly an EDC belt
14:03
This is something you're going to wear every day. Just off the bat, I've got my concealed weapon on here
14:13
This is the Canik Subcompact with the Canik holster. As you can see, just holding it like this, it's not flexing
14:25
It's not drooping. It's not falling down. It's supporting the weight of that pistol in the holster, and as a fully loaded magazine
14:36
so that's full weight. It's holding it perfectly. When I put this on me, it's going to stay where it's supposed to, and that's really
14:44
key, and it's critical. You don't want that thing flopping out from your waist, because that's going to print
14:55
People are going to be able to see it easier on you if it moves away from your body
14:59
You really want it snugged up against you, and you want it to be in the position that
15:04
you put it in, so when you do have to draw, it is there
15:08
You are not guessing. You're not fumbling around, and these core belts are fantastic
15:15
Now you can see there is flexibility with the belt. The belt is not hard in any way
15:23
It's still comfortable. It's still going to conform to my body, but when I put the holster on it, it's rock solid
15:31
It stays where it's supposed to, and that's why I love these belts
15:37
I love the ratcheting system. They are fantastic. They are so far superior to a normal belt that you buy at Walmart or whatever
15:53
Even if you don't carry a weapon every day, if you do carry things like a Leatherman or
16:01
a pocket knife attached to your belt or flashlight or maybe some kind of other tool, these belts
16:09
are fantastic. If you are working in the service industry, they are very comfortable because you can
16:17
adjust them as you need. You don't always have to have them tightened down
16:23
You can loosen them up if you need to. I think this belt runs right around $39.99
16:32
That's a fantastic price, I think, for a belt that's going to last a really long time
16:37
It's a very quality item. I'm really happy with mine. I've been happy with them in the past
16:45
Definitely check them out. Such a cool looking belt. I really dig it
16:55
I'm on the Core website and I just want to show you all the different products they have
17:00
on here. There's a lot of stuff. We've got wallets, there's key rings, there's the belt hanger that I got
17:09
Here's another interesting product that they also sent me. This is the belt protector sleeve
17:15
What that does is if you want to put that in an area where you're putting a holster
17:21
all the time, it will protect the belt. Of course the trucker cap, which I'm wearing today for the video
17:29
T-shirts, there's some knives, there's a pack. All kinds of stuff in the accessory items
17:39
Then going to the gun belt. Here's the EDC gun belt. Here are all the different options for colors
17:54
There's leather, there's tan, gray, there's black, ranger green, of course there's all
18:02
the leather colors there. There's the multicam colors, multicam, multicam arid, black, multicam tropic, and flecktarn
18:10
which is pretty awesome. I kind of wanted that one because I love flecktarn but that was pretty awesome
18:16
Here's your buckle selections. That's the X6, that's the one that's on my belt
18:21
Belt keepers, there's that belt protector again. There's carbon fiber belts. This is all the different accessories and the different types of belts in the EDC line
18:35
of belts. All right guys, I hope you enjoyed the review. Thank you to Core for hooking me up with this gear
