Is this your current situation when
0:03
you're out camping and bushcrafting? You
0:04
have a nice little pouch with all your
0:07
essential gear.
0:09
And of course, if you want to get to it,
0:12
you got to dump it out and look for it.
0:17
Well, no more because Maxition just came
0:20
out with these very cool pocket
0:21
organizers called the Platties, and
0:24
we're going to take a look at them
0:25
today. So, stick around.

0:34
Welcome back to the channel, Prepared
0:36
Wanderer, and today we're going to be
0:37
taking a look at the Bush Crafters
0:41
Toolbox
0:43
or EDC survival kit, whatever you want
0:45
to call it. I have two new pouches from
0:48
Expedition that fits this role
0:51
perfectly. And I think these are kind of
0:52
game changers and how you organize and
0:55
store and carry essential gear when
0:59
you're out in the field. So, two brand
1:01
new MaxEdition pouches. These came out
1:03
recently. These are called the Platty
1:06
organizers. There is a 5x7 which is the
1:09
larger one, and then there is the 4x6,
1:11
which is the smaller one. Multicam, OD
1:14
green, and there's also a black and a
1:17
wolf gray. So, lots of different colors
1:19
you can pick from to match your gear if
1:21
that's important to you. I chose the
1:24
multicam and the OD green. And what I
1:27
love about these pouches
1:30
is that they have so much organization
1:33
built into them, but it is very mindful
1:37
and it's very easy to organize the tools
1:40
that I like to carry when I go out into
1:42
the woods, hiking, bushcrafting,
1:45
whatever.
1:47
These two pouches really fill that role
1:49
perfectly. And I'm going to take you
1:51
through the items that I keep in mind
1:53
and how I'm going to be utilizing these
1:55
when I'm out in the woods.
2:19
So, first let's look at this little guy.
2:21
This is the 4x6 in OD green. We have a
2:26
center zip pouch and then we have two
2:28
slip pouches
2:30
on the either side of the zipper.
2:34
On the flip side, there are two more
2:37
slip pouches, but then we also have
2:39
elastic organizers at the top and a
2:43
larger slip pocket behind that that's
2:45
big enough for a notebook. There's also
2:48
a small grab handle.
2:53
And it comes with a cord
2:57
that is removable that can be used for
2:59
neck carry. And I'll show you a couple
3:01
other ways we can utilize this cord.
3:04
So, first thing, let's look at this
3:06
side. The two slip pouches are a perfect
3:09
size for carrying a Swiss Army knife,
3:13
which is something I always like to have
3:14
when I'm out in the woods. A mini
3:17
flashlight,
3:19
and there's a pretty good size pocket
3:22
there that's deep enough so you can
3:23
carry a variety of knives. Now, I like
3:26
to put lanyards on my pocket knives.
3:29
That way I can pull them out easily
3:30
because I don't always carry a pocketk
3:32
knife that has a clip. And what I like
3:34
about keeping my Swiss Army knife in the
3:37
pouch. It keeps it handy but also keeps
3:41
it protected. Keeps it from getting all
3:43
scratched up or lost in my pocket.
3:46
Does a good job of doing that. The
3:49
center zip pouch of course when you open
3:51
this up is basically the full depth and
3:54
length of of the platty. In here, I have
3:59
a mini Bick and some fire starting
4:01
cubes.
4:06
And that's it. But there's plenty of
4:08
room for more stuff. This is also an
4:10
excellent place to put band-aids, duct
4:12
tape, any other little items that are
4:14
floating around in your pockets that you
4:16
want to carry with you. This is a good
4:18
spot for that.
4:20
On this side, I have
4:23
a small notebook by Right in the Rain.
4:27
This is the Essie
4:29
notebook. And what I love about this one
4:31
is it, of course, it has the map reading
4:34
cards and some uh tips and tricks on
4:37
there for you.
4:40
That fits in here very nicely.
4:45
I have my ferro rod
4:48
down this pocket. And that's what I like
4:49
about these elastic keepers. Even if you
4:52
put an item, let's say in the slip
4:55
pocket,
4:57
well, it's going to fall out
5:00
if it's not the right size. These
5:02
elastic organizers allow you to put
5:04
smaller, narrower items down in that
5:07
pocket, but also secure them so they
5:10
don't fall out because that's key. I
5:12
don't want this thing uh when I take it
5:14
out of my pocket or around my neck
5:16
falling all over the place and losing
5:18
all my gear.
5:21
And in here I've got a right in the rain
5:23
pen
5:25
that actually collapses down.
5:31
And once again, that elastic organizer
5:34
does a fantastic job of keeping that
5:36
item and securing it.
5:39
So this little pouch doesn't have a ton
5:41
of stuff in it, but for EDC
5:44
items in it that I can get a fire going,
5:47
I can take notes. I've got a task light.
5:51
Those are all kind of the basic things
5:52
that you need when you're out in the
5:54
woods, when you're camping. And having
5:56
this in a small neck pouch is perfect
5:59
because I'm not going to lose this
6:00
thing. Now, you're saying, "Well, I
6:03
don't know if I want a neck pouch. I'd
6:04
rather carry this in my pocket." That's
6:06
totally possible. You can do that with
6:08
these pouches because
6:10
take off the cord lock, slip that cord
6:13
through. Now the cord comes off and now
6:15
you have a pocket organizer that you can
6:19
put in your BDU pocket, your field
6:21
jacket, or even throw it in your fanny
6:24
pack or your backpack. And that way you
6:26
have all of your essentials in a very
6:28
small compact pouch ready to go.
6:47
Now, let's take a look at the bigger
6:48
pouch. This is the 5x7.
6:51
And the 5x7 uh really has enough space
6:55
to put together a very decent toolbox of
6:58
equipment that you're going to use um on
7:01
a daily basis when you're out camping.
7:04
On this side, we have two large slip
7:07
pockets just like on the smaller one,
7:09
but they're of course much longer. And
7:11
I'm able to fit
7:13
my Lester River Bushcraft Sear saw
7:20
that is a wooden metal blade on there.
7:24
Folds down in this nice little kidex
7:26
handle. And of course, I've got some
7:28
blaze orange cordage on there so I can
7:30
find this. But that slips in there very
7:32
nicely. So now I have a way of
7:34
processing small wood.
7:37
Of course, a task light is something I
7:39
always want on me. And here is a very
7:42
basic flashlight. I believe this is an
7:44
Anova.
7:49
Of course, I got my lanyard on there, so
7:51
I can retrieve that easily.
7:56
The center pouch,
7:58
just like the smaller one, is pretty
8:00
big. We've got
8:04
fire tape.
8:05
Great way of getting a fire started.
8:08
This is a nice little tinder material.
8:10
I have my ACR whistle.
8:15
I've got a mini Bick lighter.
8:21
I've got my Gorilla tape
8:24
ready to go.
8:29
I have my Buck
8:32
knife sharpener
8:36
that has a fine and then a medium grit
8:39
steel on each side sharpening up my
8:42
blades.
8:44
And then back here, I've got a small
8:46
ferro rod
8:53
on this side, just like the smaller
8:55
version of this of the Platty, we have
8:57
the same pocket configuration, but just
8:59
everything a little bit bigger. So, this
9:01
pocket is big enough to actually house a
9:06
pocket knife. And here I have my Cold
9:08
Steel Finwolf, which is a fantastic
9:13
Scandi grind pocket knife. So for
9:15
carving tasks,
9:18
I can take that along with me.
9:23
That fits in down there very nicely.
9:26
And that binding tape that they use on
9:28
the edges of their pockets actually
9:30
helps retain pocket clips so it just
9:34
doesn't slip off. Over here, I have a
9:37
SOG mini
9:40
multi-tool.
9:45
I'm always carrying equipment with me in
9:47
the woods, like camera stuff, drones,
9:50
things like that. So, I like having some
9:52
repair tools.
9:56
Also comes in handy if you have to
9:57
remove a fish hook or something like
9:59
that.
10:01
Over
10:03
here I have my Milwaukee
10:07
Sharpie type pen just for marking stuff.
10:15
Another pen.
10:17
And then of course we've got the big
10:18
pocket in the back which allows me to
10:20
put a right in the rain notebook so I
10:23
can take notes.
10:25
And just like the smaller platty,
10:28
this neck cord is removable
10:32
by untying it and pulling it through. So
10:34
you can make this a pocket carry. Now,
10:36
my opinion on the bigger one is that
10:38
this is almost too big, especially once
10:40
you get it filled with all this gear to
10:42
wear around your neck. It's going to be
10:44
very, very heavy.
10:46
So, for me, I'll probably remove this
10:49
cord and just put use this as a BDU
10:51
pocket organizer. That way, um, I can
10:55
always grab my items, keep them on me,
10:57
but, uh, the a BDU pocket is the perfect
11:01
size for this pouch. I think the best
11:04
way to carry this on your body would be,
11:06
uh, crossbody. So, you're going to put
11:08
your neck through the lanyard and then
11:10
your arm through it. And this is going
11:12
to hang down by your side. There is
11:13
enough cord. They've provided
11:16
enough cord that you can actually do
11:18
that and wear this comfortably. But if
11:20
you don't want it, just remove it and
11:22
you're good to go. So, here's the small
11:25
platty organizer.
11:28
Wearing it as a neck carry kit. Works
11:31
pretty well. There's not enough stuff in
11:33
here to really weigh it down. I think
11:35
this is perfect for neck carry. And then
11:38
here's the big guy, the 5x7.
11:41
That long cord
11:44
adjustable.
11:47
Probably a little too big.
11:52
certainly is heavy. There's a lot of
11:54
weight in here. I've got a lot of tools
11:56
in mine, but
12:01
open that cord lock up
12:04
and then now
12:07
carry it this way crossbody
12:10
and it works perfectly and it takes that
12:12
weight off your neck. Also, each pouch
12:16
has these little grab handles. Now, this
12:19
is another place that's great for dummy
12:21
cording gear, too. You can actually take
12:24
a small carabiner, clip that in, have
12:27
that attached to your knife, your
12:28
flashlight, whatever, if there's if you
12:30
have a concern of losing gear. Of
12:33
course, these are just really great for
12:35
pulling this pocket out of your out of
12:37
your BDU pocket or your jacket pocket.
12:39
It also gives you a place to hang your
12:41
pouch once you're in camp. Uh, put a
12:44
carabiner on there, hang this from your
12:46
ridge line of your hammock or in your
12:48
tent, and you can find all your gear
12:50
instead of opening and emptying all your
12:53
pockets, which is always an issue when
12:56
camping. I always have a ton of stuff in
12:59
my pockets and I don't know what to do
13:01
with it all. So, I usually end up
13:03
throwing it in my ball cap and then
13:05
sticking that in the corner of my tent
13:07
or in the corner of my hammock. But now
13:10
with this, I've got an actual organizer
13:13
that holds it all, and I can keep this
13:15
organized and together and in one spot,
13:18
and I can hang this off my RGEL line and
13:20
always find my stuff. All right, guys. I
13:23
hope you found this video useful. If you
13:24
did, please do me a favor and like and
13:27
subscribe. Hit that bell notification so
13:29
you know when I'm posting new videos. I
13:31
try to do at least one video a week. And
13:34
check out the links down below for these
13:36
organizers if you're interested in them.
13:38
There'll be a link to my Amazon store
13:39
and of course to MaxEdition.
13:42
As always, Maxedition makes fantastic
13:44
gear. I have been carrying Maxed gear
13:47
really since they started. I think I've
13:50
owned a lot of their packs and bags and
13:53
organizers and I still do and I use them
13:56
all the time. Their stuff is very, very
13:59
well made. And these new organizers are
14:00
awesome for the bush crafter,
14:04
uh, the prepper, the survivalist, the
14:06
EDC guy, whoever you are. If you got
14:09
gear that you need to carry with you and
14:11
you want to keep organized, these things
14:14
are perfect for that. I'm very pleased
14:16
with them. Glad I got them. They are
14:18
going to be a great addition to my gear
14:20
this year, and I'm really looking
14:22
forward to using them more. So, thanks
14:24
for watching and we'll see you next time
14:26
on the Prepared Wanderer.
