so
1:00
so what's for supper tonight i'm gonna grill some pork chops and
1:14
gonna use some red-eyed hog seasoning this stuff is phenomenal i love it i use it all the time burgers chops steaks chicken i use it and then a little bit of
1:34
salt i'm gonna try these tonight too with the chops i've never had these the uh
1:46
bombay potatoes these already have the moisture in them they're already constituted they're wet so all i have to they're really for microwaving but i'm gonna do is i'm
1:59
just gonna pour them in my pot so as you can boil sealed pouch in water for five minutes but
2:07
my pot's not big enough for that so i'm just gonna go ahead and stick them in the stanley
2:13
cooker and heat them up that way hopefully they'll be good they're vegan gluten-free
2:22
no preservatives no msg kosher and gmo free we don't care about the vegan part but uh everything
2:29
else that's cool and they're good till june 30th of next year so
2:37
i like indian food so this will be a treat i wanted to do a quick rundown on this the new version of the hill people gear kit bag so
2:53
if you check out one of my prior videos there i did a emergency wilderness loadout for my kit bag
3:01
now hill people gear has come out with another version of the original kit bag
3:06
and the original you know that because it has basically three pockets there's the
3:11
the back pocket which is where the your weapon goes you have the middle pocket and then you
3:17
have this front and what they've done is they've taken that original design and they've added a
3:23
couple features to it just to make it even more robust in the way you can carry gear so
3:30
the first thing you're going to notice is that they've covered the bottom with this molly webbing
3:36
and what i've done is i've attached a cat tourniquet to mine that way i can get to it
3:42
really quickly just use some shock cord pull that off and then rip that out
3:52
that way if i need to self-administer a tourniquet i can get to it when it's on my person
3:58
and since i am carrying a firearm and hatchets and knives and all this other good stuff uh it's
4:04
it's a pretty good idea to have a tourniquet you just never know and i've known some people
4:09
have really injured themselves pretty seriously out in the woods with axes so uh a tourniquet
4:15
is a great idea if you're a woodsman and you're carrying axes and hatchets and knives main pocket
4:22
main pocket is pretty much the same as it's always been you got the two stash pockets here
4:29
in the front and then you have these uh slick clips that hang down this allows you to you know
4:36
tether things like compasses or flashlights into it that way you're not going to lose them
4:42
and basically what i have in mind is this kind of a dump pouch i've got some fire starting gear
4:48
some fatwood here's my pocket bellows a couple lighters i've got my headlamp so those are just
4:57
kind of grab and go items the center pocket this thing opens all the way and this is an
5:03
you're going to notice another new feature here what they've done is they've covered this back
5:08
wall with this uh soft kind of fuzzy material and it has cutouts in it that are basically molly
5:19
so if you have a molly pouch you can thread a molly pouch into this or like on here i've got
5:28
a velcro organizer that keeps my flashlight and my spare mag ready to go
5:34
and then there's also additional pouches right in here or pockets i've got my first aid kit
5:44
and some 550 cord these have um webbing as well and you can add more slick clips to these or
5:53
or tie into this so it's it's a great idea because that way if you have things you don't want to lose
5:59
like my keys i don't want to lose those i can clip those in and now they're there and i don't have to worry about them
6:13
and then the final pocket is the one in the back and of course that is where you would store
6:20
a firearm and i've got a smith and wesson m&p in there that's the full size
6:26
that's the full size fits perfectly and since this is such a narrow pocket the gun really
6:36
doesn't move around that much so it's it pretty much stays accessible i don't really don't need
6:42
a holster in here there is velcro on this back wall that you could put a holster into but i
6:46
don't feel the need for it because the weapon sits right down there and now it's accessible
6:54
from this side because that's the side i'm going to draw from when i'm wearing it back of it this is their um
7:09
their mesh panel which is nice because this actually helps breathe a little bit
7:14
and since it has a nice wide strap configuration it doesn't really bind you don't notice it when
7:21
you're wearing it because it's not binding into your back so very comfortable even with a lot of
7:27
weight in this thing it's pretty comfortable to wear of course the able to adjust it
7:35
and there's a quick release buckle on this side so you can get out of it quickly if you need to 500d cordura this is in the ranger green which is an awesome color i love it
7:50
but uh yeah if you haven't checked these out uh the time to get one is now because they've come
7:55
out with this new version the version two and you can get these at five call survival supply
8:00
i'll have a link below there's a red-eyed hog put a lot on
8:07
miss this button there we go so
8:48
there's nothing like cooking food over a campfire i feel like i'm living like a king you know
9:01
um try these uh bombay potatoes with chickpeas hmm
9:16
oh that's a really good flavor spicy not too bad though so
9:45
here's the crappy part of camping cooking outside you gotta clean up after yourself
9:53
so if i don't get this cleaned up then i don't have coffee tomorrow morning so that's not gonna happen
10:23
so so
10:49
sitting by the fire chilling out it's getting so dark out here the camera's not picking anything up so
10:57
i'm pointing my headlamp down so i'll actually record fire's gorgeous starting to cool down a little bit
11:08
start seeing my breath it's gonna be a good night i'll sleep well
11:27
well early little early morning fire prep fires all burned out from last night
11:50
get these pine twigs going so
12:10
i slept great last night it was um it really wasn't that cold uh it didn't get cold till
12:17
early this morning i woke up freezing so i put on a couple layers and got back in the sleeping bag and
12:23
i was fine but i didn't hear nothing it was so quiet last night i think the only thing i heard
12:30
was the barred owl that was at um not even the coyotes were calling it was really really
12:36
quiet back here so it's a nice peaceful evening and uh it's almost eight o'clock
12:44
and the sun is just starting to peak up get the fire going get the coffee on here
12:50
and then um probably be hiking out this morning oh yeah i've been saving this for a special occasion pumpkin spice latte
13:20
perfect for october so there were zero issues with the tent last night i mean no condensation whatsoever it was perfect
13:40
um i think the only issue that i have with this style of tent is for me it's really hard to get
13:47
in and out of um because once you get outside of it you have to get down on your knees to stand up
13:54
you can't just stand up outside of it that makes sense so i think next time i camp with it i'm
14:00
going to bring um a little tarp just to throw in the front out here out in the front of the door
14:09
that way when i wake up and i get out i can actually kneel on it put my shoes on stand up
14:16
because the because of the pole and because of this fly right here you can't stand up outside
14:27
of it as soon as you open it up it's it's just way too difficult and i'm just i'm over six foot
14:33
i'm six foot one and a half something like that and it's really hard for me to get it out of this
14:37
thing i have to crawl on my knees and that makes it really difficult so
14:45
just junk everywhere but there's plenty of room for two people i've said that before but it doesn't
14:52
look like it when you see this tent it doesn't look like it's going to fit two people very well
14:56
but it does there's just not a lot of headroom so like you can you know stand up in it i can sit up
15:05
in it but um when i do my head hits the the top so i think i'm going to do is i'm going to
15:15
take 550 cord and make loops and then just um tie those into that so that when i set up my
15:24
tent i can pull those out further with the stake and it'll be a lot easier to set up because there's
15:32
just hardly any room with this type of stake with these loops they're just very narrow but if i
15:40
you know take some 550 cord let's use this as an example here i can take some 550 run it through here like this
15:56
and then have a loop and i'll just pull it out that way and then stake it that way
16:01
i think that'll work a lot better than trying to use what they provided it's just way too small
16:08
and short and that way i can use the longer stakes because these are a lot easier
16:12
short and that way i can use the longer stakes because these are a lot easier
16:17
to pull and if the ground is frozen you can beat them into the ground because they have a
16:26
flat top so i like to use these all right guys i'm gonna get out of here
16:37
got my gear all packed up ready to head out got the fire pit extinguished and uh
16:45
time to get home hike back beautiful day all right thanks for watching as always
